Al Cimaglia: Yonkers Raceway Late Pick 4 Analysis

Yonkers Raceway has a 9-race card. The $2.00 Late Pick 4 starts in Race 6, and the sequence will be my focus. Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.

Race 6 (8:25 PM EDT)

1-Wisteria Blue Chip (9/5)-Not loving the short price but the post draw helps the cause. Should be racing on the point or close to it and the post edge could be the winning difference.
7-Bo Silas (8-1)-Will swing for a price with a 4-year-old who makes the 2nd start for the Watson barn. Is 0-10 at YR but has hit the board 4 times and has been better in the last 2 races. Brent Holland should work a staking trip and could roll by with some honest fractions.

Race 7 (8:45 PM EDT)

1-Manclane (3-1)-This is an amateur driver contest which doesn't make things easier. The Riedel trainee will have a chance to go gate to wire. Could be tough to tackle if left alone on the lead.
3-Draco S (5-1)-Cashed small checks versus the $40k claimers at Yonkers in the winter. Made a rare break at the start of the last race. Otherwise, recent form at MR has been good and should fit with this crew.
7-Fanatic (20-1)-Andrew Adamczyk steers, he is the best driver in the race and that may offset the outside draw. Likes to come off cover and should be in striking range turning for the wire.

Race 8 (9:05 PM EDT)

3-Curbside Pickup (5/2)-Beat the $50k claimers 2 back and now back in against $40k claimers who it beat 3 back. George Brennan will get on the point and play catch me if you can.
5-Scribblers (3-1)-Gets a little class relief and has the gate speed to get a close-up seat going into the 1st turn. Has been the beaten chalk in the last 2 starts and won't offer any value here, but best to not overlook.

Race 9 (9:25 PM EDT)

5-Gamblingterror (9/2)-Didn't have any pop in the last race and has skipped a start. Could be overlooked and maybe the week off will help. This isn't a strong group and will look for some value and usual pilot Brent Holland, should have the veteran in play.

Has been racing strongly and has among the most favorable speed in the race for today's distance.

I think CANELA FINA is a quite good choice. Overall, has one of the top earnings per start in dirt sprint races in this bunch. Change in Lasix (now going off Lasix) may be the key to a turnaround. Ought to come out solid - I have liked the way this mare has moved promptly to the front end recently. WATCH ME DADDY - Very strong chance today with second time Lasix. Smith has a sharp winning percentage with horses racing in dirt sprint races. PIRINOLA - Looks formidable against this group of horses in this race and will probably be one of the front-runners.

ROSE PRICK (IRE) - Although this mare has limited experience around here, she has showed her class by running well at a major foreign venue. CHESHIRE DANCER (IRE) - Generally, I don't like to see a filly run against the boys like she did May 26th. Good to see she's back with her own sex today. This filly is in nice condition. Ended up first on May 26th. This filly has run well at major foreign tracks, and ships in for today's race. Could be tough to beat. Getting a weight break of 17 lbs from last race at LEI on May 26th. Should make the difference right here. Palmer moves this thoroughbred here to Royal Ascot from LEI. Looking at the horse's past performance lines, she has shown the ability to win at different tracks. AROLLA (GB) - Have to give this filly a good shot. Ran a solid contest in the last race within the last 30 days. Even though she isn't from around here, when a thoroughbred has hit the board at a major foreign venue she will usually give a good account of herself soon after shipping.
