Even though the contrarian plan has not been working so far this year, we are confident that we will turn this brutal start around. Truthfully this would have been a 5% play in normal circumstances as we had this line at 3 for the Roughriders at home. Yes, we are quite happy with the Roughriders quick start as we do have them for a Best Bet over 9 1 /2 games won but we believe this is going to be much closer than the oddsmakers have this listed. Calgary looked great after their bye as they manhandled what maybe the best team in the CFL in the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Now Saskatchewan plays after the bye week and so far the bye has been ok for teams. We have always felt that teams on a roll like the Roughriders, the bye will hurt them. We are counting on that here as we believe the Stampeders will carry that momentum from last week. Calgary has turned that entire defense around considering hardly anybody from last years D is playing. We are actually shocked about this. They have allowed the fewest points in the league. That is because their pass D has been really good. There is no doubt this Roughriders club is for real and playing at Mosaic is a problem for road clubs. QB Harris looks good to go this week but that may help us in this one as he will not be 100%. Saskatchewan however will be missing DB Tevaughn Campbell and that will be a big loss on that D. The fact that the Stampeders are 10-2 in their last 12 games in Saskatchewan which goes back further than Mosaic, just solidifies our selection. We would not be surprised to see this at 4 or even 3 1 /2 come gametime. They had 2 solid wins in that series and I would say that they deserved a better fate in their 2 losses both by a run. We have really liked what we have seen from today’s starter for Arizona Ryne Nelson. He will face the Angels Tyler Anderson and we have never been a fan of the 35 yr old lefty. We love this matchup so much for the Diamondbacks and Nelson early, that we will make it a 5% release for the first half ML of the game. Nelson had a great May with a 1.88 ERA and a WHIP of 0.88. Now when June came around he had one brutal start and that skewed his numbers for the month. He actually has had 5 quality stats in a row including only giving up 2 runs in his last two road starts. We are expected another quality start from Ryne for 5 innings in this one. Now Anderson has really struggled in the month of June sporting a 6.93 ERA with a WHIP of 1.74. In his two starts in July he has been much better but his WHIP is still at 1.45 for those starts. That will catch up to him here against a very good hitting Arizona club. We play the first 5 for the obvious reason as the Arizona BP has been terrible all season. This bet is all about Nelson beating Anderson for us. After that tough loss yesterday in SD we like the Diamondbacks to bounce back early in this one. So lets get the job done with the Arizona Diamondbacks for the first half on the ML
