    Brian W. Spencer's Daily Picks

    Hawthorne - Race #2
#1 Money Agent Cutback player ran pretty well on the lawn going short a couple starts back, and the winner that day has been pretty solid since. Lots to like at an OK price.
#3 Aladante He was in the frame with the top choice when they met in that common race, but the price is likely to be shorter here than on that guy. Still, that's the only good try on his page, so I don't trust him a whole lot.
#5 San Anton Nothing much to write home about on his page, but he has faced much better company than he's going to find here. Something like the last one might do the trick.
Race Summary Money Agent looked good when competitive with similar a couple starts back, and he may still offer an OK price at that trip today.
    Hawthorne - Race #7
#2 General Issue The recent dirt form is pretty solid, and he has the pace to find another good spot near the top. Seems like the right one today.
#6 Little Steven He has been a handful since getting back over the local footing a few starts back, and he'll rise into this tougher spot while looking for a fourth win in a row.
#7 Coni's Coup Forward player only showed brief tracking pace in the comeback run, but he's generally a good fit here and has some room to improve with that comeback run under his belt.
Race Summary General Issue can be tough here with another good trip waiting for him near the top, and I think he can bring something a touch better than last out to turn the tables on Shake Up.
    Hawthorne - Race #8
#1 Skip to Bali She's had her share of chances already, but she ran OK enough off the bench last out and brings some upside to this second start back. Price should be OK.
#8 Chela She has pace from the outside, but that was a really flat run last out at 9/5 against some of these. She makes sense here, but I'm not too thrilled about signing on after that last one.
#5 Sadie's Sweet Ride Not much from her through two starts, but this is not a deep spot at all, so it wouldn't be any shock to see her turn in a good run today. I suppose she's in the mix.
Race Summary Skip to Bali has some midrange price appeal while likely in line for another good rail trip. Could see her making an impact here with some reasonable upside off the last one.

      Frank Carulli's Daily Picks

      Delaware Park - Race #1
#3 GUAIO (7-2) Floated 9-wide as the beaten odds-on favorite, nearly beat tiger in race prior.
#6 WHERE’S MY CHEW (Even Rallied to win both 6F tries by a head, well-spotted but offers no value.
#5 BOYD’S BAND (5-1) Steady check-getter just missed at 5-1/2F, but he benefitted from drifting rivals.
Race Summary GUAIO piled up the checks with consistent inside runs at Tampa this year. He was disqualified from his lone win but ran a scare into winning machine He’s In Charge (14-48, $374k) at this level two starts back. He’s worth a win and place bet.
      Delaware Park - Race #3
#5 ALRASIKH (7-5) Went down fighting on soft turf in seasonal debut, has tactical edge, figures tough.
#4 ZEVON (6-1) Six thirds in last 11 route races, runs for cheapest claiming price yet.
#7 BASIC MILES (8-1) Late foot in shorter grass route to finish third and earn his top speed figure.
Race Summary ALRASIKH just missed after a stretch-long duel with the favorite in his first start for this barn and first as a 4-year-old. He holds a tactical advantage in a field that lacks speed and should live up to favoritism with a duplicate performance. Bet to win and place and play 5-4 and 5-7 exactas.
      Delaware Park - Race #8
#8 MAGGIE’S GIRL (8-1) Can’t fault her Charles Town form, might like 6F, price attached.
#4 IN THEORY (6-5) Six-figure earner in four starts as 2yo for Baffert, returns a year later in new barn.
#1 I’M A CUTIE PIE (12-1 Hit board in last six non-stakes, worked :47-2/5 bullet at Laurel.
Race Summary MAGGIE’S GIRL arrives from Charles Town with a 12-21 record, two stakes victories and a $290k bankroll. She has wire-to-wire wins at 4-1/2F and around two turns at 6-1/2F and 7F. She tries 6F for the first time today and has a chance if the favorite doesn’t fire her best shot. Bet to win and place.

            Belterra Park - Race #2 - Post: 1:05pm - Maiden Claiming - 6.5 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $10,000 Class Rating: 58

            Rating:

            #3 TUFF HEART (ML=2/1)

TUFF HEART - Looking at today's Equibase class figure, this racer is up against an easier bunch than in the last race at FanDuel Horse Racing.

            Vulnerable Contenders: #5 CAN'T YOU SEE (ML=7/5), #1 LYLA'S LUCKY BOY (ML=3/1), #4 KING HAZELTON (ML=5/1),

CAN'T YOU SEE - Just can't play any entrant right back after he doesn't hit the board after any long layoff. This horse hasn't been close in either of his last two races. LYLA'S LUCKY BOY - This animal hasn't been hitting the board in either of his last two efforts. KING HAZELTON - This horse hasn't been close in either of his last couple of efforts. No accomplishments for this questionable contender in a short distance race over the last sixty days tells me that this gelding is in a thorny situation This less than sharp equine ran a somewhat easily forgotten speed rating in the last race. He shouldn't show signs of improvement and will likely suffer defeat in today's race running that rating.
STRAIGHT WAGERS: Have to go with #3 TUFF HEART on the win end if we get at least 1/1 odds
            EXACTA WAGERS: Pass
            TRIFECTA WAGERS: None

Race 4 - Maiden Special Weight - 5.5f on the Dirt. Purse: $36000 Class Rating: 64

IND - R7 - FOR REGISTERED INDIANA BREDS MAIDENS, FILLIES AND MARES THREE YEARS OLD AND UPWARD. THREE YEAR OLDS, 120 LBS.; OLDER, 124 LBS.
              RECOMMENDED CHOICES
              # 9 ROCKIN ROCIO 7/2
              # 12 KIPPY TOO 8/1
              # 7 MICTLAN 15/1
ROCKIN ROCIO is my choice. Is difficult not to look at based on speed figures which have been very good - 64 avg - of late. Had one of the most favorable Equibase speed figs of this group of animals in her last race. The average Equibase class rating alone makes this entrant a definite contender. KIPPY TOO - Should be carefully examined here on the basis of the figures in the speed realm alone. Always good to invest in a conditioner with this kind of very strong win percentage - 15 percent - at this distance & surface. MICTLAN - Has been running well lately and should be on the lead early on. With a strong 52 average speed rating at the distance, seems well suited for today's race.

                Race 10 - Allowance - 330y on the Dirt. Purse: $17100 Class Rating: 79

QUARTER HORSE 330Y, FOR THREE YEAR OLDS AND UPWARD WHICH HAVE NEVER WON TWO RACES. THREE YEAR OLDS, 125 LBS.; OLDER, 128 LBS.
                RECOMMENDED CHOICES
                # 5 FAVORITE PRINCESS 5/1
                # 7 CORONA MARYS 6/1
                # 2 DRAGONES 12/1
I think about FAVORITE PRINCESS here. Could beat this group given the 78 speed figure garnered in her last outing. CORONA MARYS - With a nice Equibase class figure average of 87, has one of the best class advantages in this field. Should best this group of horses in this race here, showing respectable numbers of late. DRAGONES - Is hard not to consider based on Speed Figures which have been respectable - 65 avg - of late.

                  Colonial Downs - Race #2 - Post: 11:20am - Handicap - 18.0 furlongs on the Turf. Purse: $35,000 Class Rating: 97

                  Rating:

                  #7 PAVONI (ML=4/1)
                  #9 SELASSIE (ML=8/1)

PAVONI - This jock and handler have a wonderful winning pct when they are put together. Jockey jumped on this gelding's back for the first attempt on May 10th. Should be in tune with the animal even better today. I look for this horse to sit chilly and make a big move on the turn, cruising straight on to the finish line. Forgive the out of the money finish on the off track in the last race. On a fast track, has a shot in this field. Could be a potential overlay in this field at morning odds of 4/1. Finished fourth in last race at Willowdale Steeplechase but was close at the end. SELASSIE - This horse didn't run well on the soft turf in his last start at Malvern. You may want to toss out that effort.

Vulnerable Contenders: #2 ROJA REDEMPTION (ML=5/2), #5 KICKING MYSELF (IRE) (ML=9/2), #6 BENJIS BENEFIT (IRE) (ML=8/1),

ROJA REDEMPTION - The probable favorite is vulnerable here with the lack of works. When checking today's Equibase class figure, he will have to notch a better speed figure than last race out to battle in this dirt route. KICKING MYSELF (IRE) - If she goes off near the M/L odds of 9/2, I'll have to pass. BENJIS BENEFIT (IRE) - This horse hasn't been in the mix in either of his last couple of outings.
STRAIGHT WAGERS: #7 PAVONI to win at post-time odds of 7/5 or better
