| Analysis: 5% ROYALS (-115) vs MIAMI So we've certainly cashed a bunch of tickets backing Michael Wacha when he's pitched this season. We've actually have faded him a few times over the last 3 weeks as it was clear the Royals offensively just couldn't score enough when he has pitched. However, after a little time off, Wacha is the perfect pitcher to back in this situation today. The Royals allowed rookie Kyle Stowers to beat them last night after he hit the walk off HR in extra innings. I don't see the Royals allowing that to happen here. Wacha has great numbers against this Marlins team and is the exact kind of pitcher that will frustrate this lineup as he keeps the ball in the ballpark. I believe the Royals bats are more than capable of scoring against Cal Quantrill, who sits at the bottom of just about every important pitching metric and is especially bad against right handed pitching (.371 BA and a 1.063 OPS) Five of the first six hitters he'll see for the Royals will be right handers. We're also starting to see a Royals Rookie really starting to swing the bat in John Rave, who had 2 HR's last night. With Wacha always managing to miss barrels and hard contact, I like the Royals bats to play from in front in this one and look to get one back after falling behind early last night and eventually blowing it in extra innings. It's time to ride the Wacha train again and this is a great spot to do it. |
