    Brian W. Spencer's Daily Picks

Presque Isle Downs - Race #2
#2 Not Right Now He showed a brief bit of chasing pace when last seen here in October, and I wonder if that kind of forward speed will keep him up near the top in a race without any committed front-end pace. Fires fresh?
#3 Warrior's Mission Tactical type looks like the one to beat after a solid run on the rise, but he's already making a habit of settling for minor shares and has done so against some cheaper crews. Obvious player, but I worry the price will get short.
#7 Justice Is Sweet Debuter isn't meeting the deepest field for this local level, so take a look at him on the tote and track ahead of this with a top rider signing on.
Race Summary Not Right Now might have some fresh pace to offer here, and I'm hoping he'll be a fair price if Warrior's Mission commands a bunch of cash off a good run last out.
Presque Isle Downs - Race #3
#3 Starship Legacy She woke up a bit last out when getting around two turns, and something similar probably makes her tough right back with these.
#1 Bluesup Greensdown Nothing to write home about on the page, but she gets around two turns again with what might be a little bit of inside tactical pace. Could see her grinding along for a piece.
#2 Cheerful Trout She's a pretty reliable type, but she's not really known for being a big threat to winners in her races, and I could see her going one-paced again late for a piece today.
Race Summary Starship Legacy turned in an improved run when getting two turns for the first time, and that kind of baseline form should be enough to handle these if she can hold it.
Presque Isle Downs - Race #8
#9 She's Got Rhythm Honest finisher has had her share of chances at this level, but her typical effort fits well with these while meeting a group without a whole lot of serious late punch. Plugs past late?
#3 Spanish Cara Nothing wrong with her local form with claiming company as she goes in search of a third straight, and she's right back again at another reasonable level off the last two. Enough to like.
#7 Keep In Touch Worried that she's going to find some company on the turn here, but she typically bounces back pretty well from dull runs, so I'd expect something better here today.
Race Summary She's Got Rhythm might get an OK race flow in a spot without much finishing punch. She's honest enough and figures to get moving late to try to pick these up.

      Frank Carulli's Daily Picks

      Horseshoe Indianapolis - Race #1
#4 ROCK STAR PARKING (2-1) Form dulled against good company, can beat these on memory alone.
#5 POUNDS IN TOWN (5-1) Won for $12,500 two back, likely sender in race that lacks pace.
#7 BOTOX KATIE (6-1) 8yo gets class relief, barn on 0-for-11 run with long layoff types.
Race Summary ROCK STAR PARKING, a seven-race winner against mostly nw/3 types, is not in good form. But the class drop and company lines should push her over the top as today’s Best Bet. She ran second to next-out allowance winner Tell Me When (3-7, $79k) at Oaklawn Park four starts back and got beat 5 lengths by Campaign Promises, who won 5 of her last 6 races, at Ellis Park. Bet to win and place and play a 4-5-ALL trifecta.
      Horseshoe Indianapolis - Race #3
#2 KISSIN CASH (6-1) Some interest in ‘key’ race, returns for 20-percent ‘layoff’ barn, gets Lasix.
#7 STYLET (7-2) Cox-trained returnee has solid foundation of morning preps for her seasonal debut.
#5 VEKOMANCER (5-1) Faded chasing wire-to-wire winner, bullet workout could be ‘send’ sign.
Race Summary KISSIN CASH showed a pulse after a bumpy start in her debut seven months ago. She ‘moved up’ while racing wide but was no match for the likes of runner-up Verity (3-4, $361k), who later won the Grade 2 Beaumont Stakes at Keeneland, and follow-up Maiden Special Weight winner Trouble in Love. She gets Lasix for a barn that does well with second-out starters. Bet to win and place and play a 2-5-7 exacta box.
      Horseshoe Indianapolis - Race #5
#4 NO MANCHES (2-1) Should sit dream trip in bid to end bout with seconditis, solid play.
#7 PAIGE PERFECT (15-1) In decent form, cooked in fast pace last out, price attached.
      # 6 EASE MY MIND (8-5) Class drops, stretches out, but top barn is 4-for-54 on sprint-to-route angle.
Race Summary With several stretch-out sprinters likely to ensure a solid pace, NO MANCHES will have every chance to upstage three consecutive runner-up finishes at his maiden-breaking distance. He met repeat winners in four of his last five route races. Bet to win and place and play a 4/6, 7/ALL trifecta.

            # 1 DIAMOND EMPRESS 5/2
            # 2 TENSAS LUCY 9/5
I think WANNAWHOLELOTTALUV is a decent choice. She looks quite good in this spot and I expect will be on the lead or close at the halfway point. Has performed soundly as of late in sprint races, posting a nifty 73 avg speed figure. Could beat this field given the 73 speed figure posted in her last outing. DIAMOND EMPRESS - Could best this group of horses based on the Equibase Speed Figure - 73 - of her last race. Has a sharp shot for this event if you like back class. TENSAS LUCY - Has recorded solid Equibase Speed Figures in turf sprint races in the past. She must be considered given the very strong speed figs.

              Mountaineer Park - Race #3 - Post: 7:50pm - Maiden Claiming - 7.5 furlongs on the Turf. Purse: $10,500 Class Rating: 62

              Rating:

              #3 SISTER SOLA (ML=9/5)

SISTER SOLA - Have to give this horse a good look. In recent races, has posted the best speed ratings on the turf at this distance. I really like that most recent contest on August 12th at Mountaineer Park where she ran second. Earned a nice turf fig on Aug 12th at Mountaineer Park. A repeat in today's race, and this one has a great shot to win. Strong average class rating on this horse. Should have the ability to run well on the turf.

              Vulnerable Contenders: #1 SLAINTE MHATH (ML=2/1), #4 MI GITANITA (ML=9/2), #5 STRAWBERRY SKY (ML=9/2),

SLAINTE MHATH - Recent dropping speed figs of 65/58/52 give a sign that this animal may be going off form. MI GITANITA - This equine hasn't been in the money in either of her last two efforts. No accomplishments for this horse in a sprint race over the last two months tells me that this filly is in a tough situation STRAWBERRY SKY - This filly hasn't had any in the money results in sprint races in the last couple of months.

GUEST COMMENTARY: The Brain - SISTER SOLA - I've checked and double checked my historical performance database. This horse is the only solid stalker in this field. Should make a big move turning for home on her way to the winner's circle.

STRAIGHT WAGERS: Bet on #3 SISTER SOLA to win if we can get at least 1/1 odds

CV B DYNAMIC looks to be a competitive contender. Looks competitive to be up near the lead at the first call. Could provide positive gains based on competitive recent Equibase Speed Figures with an average of 63. Must be considered given the class of races run recently. SHEZA BEACH GIRL - Don't let this filly slip past you. Could win at big odds. Recent figures for the jock - 19 win percent - make this filly stand out in this group of animals.

                  Rating:

                  #1 CATTIN (ML=5/1)

CATTIN - Last time, was entered in a race at Tampa Bay Downs in a race with a class number of 90. Dropping a significant amount in Equibase class figure in today's event puts him in a solid position right here.

                  Vulnerable Contenders: #6 ZAP MOTION (ML=2/1), #2 SAILOR'S RETURN (ML=5/2), #4 HE'S A GOOD DANCER (ML=7/2),

ZAP MOTION - You should normally wager against morning-line choices that haven't raced or show no activity in the morning over the last 3 weeks. SAILOR'S RETURN - This was a hot horse, but now this one hasn't been doing anything in the morning. Have to think this one is suspect. HE'S A GOOD DANCER - Tough to put your dough on the win end of any mount that finishes second and third as often as this participant does.

GUEST COMMENTARY: Winston - CATTIN - Romero is making good money with this horse. Tops in earnings per start.

STRAIGHT WAGERS: #1 CATTIN to win at post-time odds of 1/1 or better

DESIGNATED FREAK looks very nice to best this race. Some drivers just ride better with certain horses. That seems to be the case here with Jenson. A competitive play. Outstanding in the money clip for Jenson and this horse. A respectable probability to get the win. A MAJOR OMEN - This entrant has been making trips to the winner's circle on a routine basis, look for him to make another appearance soon. Top players at Running Aces will notice this standardbred's pace figures are among the finest in the field. MARC IN THE BOX - Jenson is racking up the wins most recently. Excellent win stat makes this race horse our choice. Can't ignore based on speed ratings which have been outstanding (78 avg) of late.

Really keen on the probability of WAIMAC ATTACK N taking down the winner's share in this race. Many harness players will recognize the outstanding speed rating in the last competition. Stacks up against any horse in this grouping. Nice driver-trainer, winning 26 percent of the time. Could be a tremendous wager. With one of the top drivers in terms of crossing the wire first, don't count this gelding out of the affair. YANKEE ON THE MOVE - This fine animal looks tough considering the high class ratings. Don't throw out of any exotics. Has one of the most solid win percents in the pack and may be able to add to those numbers in this race. PARKLANE ODDS - Has to be given a look based on the very nice speed rating recorded in the last race.
