    Brian W. Spencer's Daily Picks

Presque Isle Downs - Race #6
#9 Jaydeevee Think this race is a lot of fun with several horses who bring some reasonable and interesting upside. This guy showed zero last month at Churchill in the debut run, but I'm at least mildly encouraged that he's still back in a special weight spot for this second go, and I'm willing to believe there may be some upside while trying the new footing where Kittens Joys have done really solid work.
#4 Inmate His baseline stuff might be good enough to land this, but he also has the feel of that guy who will keep running into one or two horses who are too good for him on any day. Would want him on the tickets.
#5 Spectacle He didn't stay in the lane at first asking, but he has some room to come forward in an easier spot while trying a new surface. Probably one of the ones.
Race Summary Not totally sold on any of them in here -- it might be as simple as hanging your hat on the reliable Inmate, but I wonder if a horse like Jaydeevee might have room to flip the form after a flat first try.
Presque Isle Downs - Race #7
#6 Chasing the Storm Not sure we're getting the 6/1 ML offering here, but she turned things around in a hurry when getting in with the locals, and she should find another great trip near the top in a race without much serious pace.
#5 Little Martha She's a bit of a reach on top for me, but I like her fairly honest form and think she should be in another good spot turning for home. Lots to like in the gimmicks.
#3 Claramente Reliable finisher has a couple of pretty tough local names on her page from some of those losses, and her better stuff is probably good enough to handle these. Wonder if she might come back just a touch off the last one?
Race Summary Chasing the Storm should trip out near the top again today after spying her way to an easy score in her local debut last out. May not have seen the best of her yet.
Presque Isle Downs - Race #8
#2 Braditude He is a good fit with this kind of crew, and he looks like some of the very limited serious pace signed on today. Guessing he's on the engine or forcing the rail runner the whole way -- I'd take either trip.
#5 Slippin Jimmy His form is all over the place, but it has also come with better company than he's going to find here. Could manage this group with his better stuff.
#1 Cheers for Kitten He's quick enough to get in the mix early from the fence, and he's one of the serious forward players if the top choice doesn't break or doesn't fire.
Race Summary Braditude is a solid lean here -- the race flow flatters his early running style, and he may be able to put this group away off the turn.

      Frank Carulli's Daily Picks

      Horseshoe Indianapolis - Race #1
#8 INSPIRED GLORY (10-1) Recovered from double trouble, ranged up, flattened out in longer sprint.
#5 GOINGSCENTS (8-5) Carried speed farther, finished ahead of recent winner in second 2025 start.
#6 AMAZING MIKE (6-1) Improved try with blinkers two back, troubled fave against ‘Glory’ in latest.
Race Summary INSPIRED GLORY rushed up to stalk the pace-setting winner after a slow start, appeared to drop out of it entering the turn, then re-emerged into contention for the stretch run, only to falter late. It was a good enough debut effort by the 5-year-old to earn a playback on the jump into MSW company in a shorter sprint today. Bet to win and place and play a 5-6-8 exacta box.
      Horseshoe Indianapolis - Race #2
#1 DREAMING BRO (4-1) Back in for a tag, won twice at distance by combined 11-1/4 lengths.
#6 SHIESTY TO CHASE (7-5) Best numbers, gets class relief, could hold tactical edge in pace-less race.
#2 NINE QUESTIONS (9-2) In good form, needs some pace flow to launch late kick.
Race Summary DREAMING BRO romped in his last two starts at today’s distance and met next-out repeaters in both allowance tries, finished third most recently. He is reunited with De La Cruz and draws the rail on his return to the claiming ranks. Bet to win and place and play a 1,6/1, 2, 3, 6/1, 2, 3, 6, 7 trifecta.
      Horseshoe Indianapolis - Race #3
#1 CREATOR OF MAGIC (10-1) Shook hard duel with next-out winner, too good to pass up at a price.
#4 L A WOMAN (6-5) Missed in allowance ‘photos’ at three tracks this year, strictly the one to beat.
#2 ENCHANTING (12-1) Useful sprint off seven-month layoff, stakes-place at one mile in February.
Race Summary CREATOR OF MAGIC impressed in her 6F debut at Mountaineer Park. She broke a step slow, rushed up to engage in a hard duel with the second favorite, then drew away in the stretch after asserting command. The added distance should be well within her reach for a 20-percent ‘repeat’ barn. Bet to win and place and play a 1-2-4 exacta box.

            Race 4 - Claiming - 6.0f on the Dirt. Purse: $24300 Class Rating: 73

FOR REGISTERED OHIO BRED THREE YEAR OLDS AND UPWARD. THREE YEAR OLDS, 123 LBS.; OLDER, 126 LBS. NON-WINNERS OF A RACE SINCE SEPTEMBER 21 ALLOWED 2 LBS. CLAIMING PRICE $10,000 ES).

            # 5 NEED TO KNOW BASIS 5/2
            # 6 INTO GOLD 7/2
            # 3 TURNING PAGES 10/1
I have to consider NEED TO KNOW BASIS here. He has very good class ratings, averaging 84, and has to be considered in here. With a strong 81 average speed figure at the distance, seems well suited for today's contest. Win percentage under similar conditions may be the key for this gelding. INTO GOLD - He has to be given a chance given the respectable speed figs. With better than average trips to the winner's circle, Batista ought to have this gelding in excellent position to win the race. TURNING PAGES - Exhibits the look of a money-making play, averaging a solid 69 Equibase Speed Figure which is one of the best in this group of horses. Has a sharp shot in this race if you like back class.

              # 3 SILENT TRIBUTE 8/1
              # 1 NIGHTSABER (GB) 6/1
SKY DIVINE is the top bet in this race. Has run well when racing a dirt sprint race. Might best this group here, showing formidable figures of late. Johnson has one of the strongest jock ROI's on the grounds, returning to bettors +20 percent. SILENT TRIBUTE - Has a strong shot for this event if you like back class. This mare looks good here since Davis has a strong win percentage with horses going this distance. NIGHTSABER (GB) - Has run soundly when racing a dirt sprint race.

                Mountaineer Park - Race #4 - Post: 8:15pm - Maiden Claiming - 8.0 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $15,000 Class Rating: 62

                Rating:

                #6 MY ANGEL DOES (ML=4/1)
                #1 JAMMERSNEXTATTACK (ML=9/2)

MY ANGEL DOES - This filly likes to lay just off the pace and the way things shape up here, she should get an ideal trip. Gomez moves this filly to the dirt today. Look for a chance at a big improvement from the most recent race on the turf. JAMMERSNEXTATTACK - Weatherly comes to saddle up after getting to know the filly in the last contest. This filly is the longer price of the 'split' entry from the barn of Reed. The improved speed figs over the last 3 races is solid. Reed drops her in this event conditioned properly and ready to go.

                Vulnerable Contenders: #2 SURF HAPPY (ML=2/1), #3 SUMMER FOREVER (ML=3/1), #4 SHOPPINGATBLOOMIES (ML=8/1),

SURF HAPPY - This chalk horse hasn't visited the track in awhile. No drills since last race. SUMMER FOREVER - Hard to put any dough on this filly on the front end. Likes to hit the board though. This racer ran a common rating last time out. She shouldn't run much better and will probably suffer defeat in today's race running that number. SHOPPINGATBLOOMIES - Tough to like the downward flow (69/38/30) of speed ratings. This horse doesn't have a conquering spirit. Repeatedly finishes second or third.

GUEST COMMENTARY: The Turf Man - JAMMERSNEXTATTACK - Changing surface from the turf, at Mountaineer Park, to the dirt today, this steed has a good chance to get her first victory.

                  Presque Isle Downs - Race #3 - Post: 4:24pm - Claiming - 8.3 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $16,000 Class Rating: 80

                  Rating:

                  #6 LA PANDA (ML=5/2)
                  #7 HIGHLAND HOLIDAY (ML=8/1)

LA PANDA - Taking a trip to a lower level; has the ability to make her presence felt. This horse absolutely loves this surface. All her wins have been here at Presque Isle Downs. HIGHLAND HOLIDAY - The rider and conditioner combination have a profitable ROI when they team up. Looking at today's Equibase class figure, this thoroughbred is meeting an easier field than last out at Presque Isle Downs.

Vulnerable Contenders: #3 THINK IT THRU (ML=7/2), #2 NEXT EPISODE (ML=7/2), #1 LIZZIE BABY (ML=9/2),

THINK IT THRU - This mare registered a speed figure in her last affair which likely isn't good enough today. NEXT EPISODE - Registered a most unsatisfactory speed fig last time around the track in an $8,500 Claiming race on Oct 6th. Improbable to see an improved performance off of that fig. LIZZIE BABY - Based on the pace scenario in this event, this horse doesn't fit in here. With a single front-runner and this horse having to race from behind, she sure has a tough assignment.
