    Al Cimaglia:

    November 3, 2025 | By Al Cimaglia

    XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Yonkers Raceway has a 10-race card with the $1.00 Pick 5 rolling in Race 5. The sequence has $10,000 guaranteed pool. The $2.00 Late Pick 4 starts in Race 7, and it will be my focus. Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.

    Race 7 (8:45 PM EDT)

1-Dancin Sancho (7/2)-Took a good step up in class after winning 3 and 4 back and wasn’t able to connect in the last 2 starts. This is the 3rd straight leaving from post 1, did come close losing by a neck and a nose and those winners are not in this field. May have met a beatable field and the 3rd time might be the charm.
7-Typhoon Banner N (5/2)-Hasn’t raced at Yonkers since 8-18, returns from Kentucky and fits despite the post draw. Bartlett steers for the Joe Bongiorno barn and this duo wins at a 40% clip. The veteran faces a suspect group and is a main player with a top try. Jason Bartlett should be aggressive from the word "go. Could get the top and be tough to tackle.

    Race 8 (9:05 PM EDT)

2-Redwood Hanover (2-1)-Raced on Breeders Crown night at Wbsb and was used hard into a 26.1 opening quarter leaving from post 7 and the trip took its toll. The 5-yr-old set a 151.1 mark here in September and Bartlett should be leaving and looking to make every call a winning one.

    Race 9 (9:25 PM EDT)

1-Seasideescape (3-1)-Makes the 3rd start in the Per Engblom barn after shipping in from Scioto. Has raced conservatively from post 6 in both races and they were no-move miles. Interestingly, Bartlett lands here after winning with #9 a Job Bongiorno trainee in its last start. My guess is the wrapper comes off, and this is go-time.
5-Himself N (9/2)-Looking for a solid price in what could be a chalky sequence and will use the Lance Hudson entry. The veteran has good gate speed and Austin Siegelman should have in play when the wings fold. If it lands in a close-up seat good things could follow. The 8-yr-old has won 23% of its Yonkers starts.

    Race 10 (9:45 P EDT)

2-Euphoria N (8-1)-Gets a new set of hands in Jordan Stratton and that could make a difference, it might help in a needed wake-up call. Should be a player against this bunch if engaged as soon as the wings fold.
5-Rocknroll Gold (5-1)-Ships in from M1 and was cashing smaller checks there. Has half-mile track experience at Stga and should have enough gate speed to be forwardly placed. That would give the 6-year-old a shot to come off cover late in the mile. Has only 3 wins this year but that's the 2nd most in the field and does cash a lot of checks.

    $2 Late Pick 4

    1,7/2/1,5/2,5
    Total Bet =$16

      Brian W. Spencer's Daily Picks

      Mahoning Valley - Race #6
#1 A Van on the Run Nothing to write home about from his last, but he has a decent route run on his page that might play well here if he can reproduce it with another good spying trip behind some more committed early players.
#3 Runaway Power He's meeting a lot of stretchout pace types who aren't sure things at this kind of trip, and he turned in a solid score going long a few starts back.
#4 Finally Friday Hoping for something a bit better from him here than he showed last time around, but I worry that he's meeting a couple other forward players and could find the front end a bit inhospitable.
Race Summary A Van on the Run might get a great run of things from just behind some speedier stretchout types, and I'd be willing to take him on an even kind of tote board.
      Mahoning Valley - Race #7
#6 Ruffin He's meeting a little bit of other pace, but he draws well to force the issue with the inside speed, and he was game when scoring in that only previous local try.
#7 Thunderian The Ohio form is pretty solid, and he has some fairly reliable finishing lines. Might be plugging along too late, though.
#4 Excitement He's honest enough but might be just a little light for top honors, though I think his style gives him a chance to share again today.
Race Summary Ruffin has some pace and a good draw to utilize it, and I think he could be in for a bit better run of things today to turn the tables on the guy who beat him last out.
      Mahoning Valley - Race #8
#5 Miss Lora Ann Not totally sold on her here, but she should be a decent price while bringing a couple of the only mild finishing lines in this whole crew. Would love to see an early battle set things up for her to plug past late.
#8 Forever Flowing She took a nice step forward last time out and fits right back here if she can bring anything similar, and she should be in a good spot for a first-jump kind of trip.
#6 Castle Queen She took a little bit of cash but didn't run much in the debut try, though I would expect to see something a little bit better this time around. Would want a better number.
Race Summary Miss Lora Ann gets out of stakes company and may be in the frame today if she can run back to the late September try at Belterra.

        Frank Carulli's Daily Picks

        Parx - Race #1
#4 DELICATE (5-2) Can carry her speed to third wire-to-wire victory at Parx in the last five months.
#3 CHARM OF THE SONG (5-1) Fired blank in return, price goes up, gets in light-weighted.
#6 ALYVIA’S GIRL (6-1) Good Parx record, claimed again, draws plenty of betting attention.
Race Summary DELICATE continues to back-pedal through the stretch, but the 3-year-old can make maximum use of her speed on the class drop and cutback to a shorter sprint. She won back-to-back races at Parx midway through the year. Bet to win and place and play a 3-4-6 exacta box.
        Parx - Race #2
#7 DESERT AIRE (6-5) Should ‘air’ in a field that is a combined 22/0-1-2 at distance if he fires off layoff.
#2 CARRY GRANT (7-2) Finished in the money in his last four dirt route races on a fast track.
#1 CHANGING THE KARMA (10-1) Exits MSW company, 21 of 34 losses were on the turf.
Race Summary DESERT AIRE hasn’t raced since a voided claim five months ago at Churchill Downs. But he returns in a new barn and should have no trouble graduating if he duplicates his last two route races. He dueled and held second against favorite Onlythegood, a four-time runner-up since that one-mile race at Turfway Park, then was overtaken in the closing yards by eventual allowance winner Catalina Cat at Churchill. Bet to win and place and play 7-1 and 7-2 exactas.
        Parx - Race #3
#3 KEEPING THE FAITH (4-1) No match for odds-on winner, should be in prime striking spot today.
#1 IT’S AUTHENTIC (6-1) Denied victory by next-out repeater in longer route race, moves inside.
#2 SUNNY MAGIC (5-2) ‘Faith’ stablemate tries to upstage five consecutive in-the-money placings.
Race Summary KEEPING THE FAITH should sit an ideal stalking trip behind a couple other stretch-out sprinters. He was put to a drive on the turn at 6-1/2F last out but couldn’t gain on the 1-to-9 winner. Bet to win and place and play 3-1 and 3-2 exactas.

              Race 2 - SA - 300y on the Dirt. Purse: $14000 Class Rating: 65

QUARTER HORSE 300Y, FOR TWO YEAR OLDS WHICH HAVE STARTED FOR A CLAIMING PRICE OF $10,000 OR LESS. WEIGHT, 124 LBS.
              RECOMMENDED CHOICES

              # 5 FAMOUS KOOL ROCKET 5/1
              # 1 FAMOUSLY FLIRTIN 5/2
My choice in this contest is EURO SPECIAL LADY. Handler has very strong win rate (18 percent) at this distance and surface. Will make a good showing versus this field. The speed figure of 58 from her last contest looks respectable in here. FAMOUS KOOL ROCKET - Looks very strong to be close to the front end at the first call. Ran a sharp last race. FAMOUSLY FLIRTIN - Has been travelling solidly and has among the most respectable speed in the race for today's distance. This gelding has a very good winning percentage in short races.

                # 1 C V RONIN LEGACY 4/1
                # 7 CATCH A NITE TRAIN 7/2
                # 6 SLINK 5/1
C V RONIN LEGACY looks to be a decent contender. Will most likely compete soundly in the pace contest which bodes well with this group. Could best this group of horses based on the Equibase Speed Figure - 69 - of his last outing. In fine fettle, and coming back almost immediately again this time out. CATCH A NITE TRAIN - This gelding with Murrill in the irons makes him a contender. The average class rating of 56 makes this one tough to beat. SLINK - With a nice Equibase class figure average of 80, has one of the strongest class advantages in this group. Is worth looking at and may be a wager - strong speed figures (65 average) at today's distance and surface lately.

                  Mountaineer Park - Race #2 - Post: 7:25pm - Claiming - 8.0 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $12,200 Class Rating: 86

                  Rating:

                  #4 COURTHOUSE COVE (ML=5/1)
                  #6 STING MUSIC (ML=7/2)
                  #3 MIDNIGHT CHANNEL (ML=9/2)
                  #2 GROUP EIGHTEEN (ML=12/1)

COURTHOUSE COVE - This gelding is in nice condition. Ended up second on October 14th. This gelding's last speed figure registered on October 14th is utmost in last race speed ratings. STING MUSIC - Cordero-Lopez has this gelding placed in the ideal event. MIDNIGHT CHANNEL - Van Berg drops him down to this level. You don't need too much more handicapping knowledge to figure that this thoroughbred should run well at this level. Last time out, ran the last quarter in less than 25 ticks. To me, that's a good indication he can close well, and should be right there at the finish in this race. GROUP EIGHTEEN - You always have to be on the patrol for bankroll building jock/trainer combos; we have one right here.

                  Vulnerable Contenders: #7 RUNNINGFORCASH (ML=9/5), #5 BEACHWALKER (ML=8/1),

RUNNINGFORCASH - The speed figure last time out doesn't fit very well in this contest when I look at the class rating of today's event. Mark this racer as a likely underlay. BEACHWALKER - This gelding hasn't been showing me anything positive in the last couple of races.

GUEST COMMENTARY: Hal - COURTHOUSE COVE - This gelding improved his speed rating two races back on October 1st and improved again in the last race.

STRAIGHT WAGERS: #4 COURTHOUSE COVE to win at post-time odds of 9/2 or better

                    Parx Racing - Race #10 - Post: 4:08pm - Claiming - 6.0 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $21,000 Class Rating: 60

                    Rating:

                    #12 YO LEVEN (ML=3/1)
                    #2 RAMA BAMA LANA (ML=5/1)

YO LEVEN - Looking over this filly's PPs I see that the last time she tried this distance she got a speed fig that would be good enough to win today's race. I think this filly is very fit right now. I like the fact that Nevin brings her back to a race so quickly. Ranked numero uno in earnings per start. Another sign that this animal outclasses this field. RAMA BAMA LANA - On October 21st this filly shipped in to win and looks good right back. The rider and trainer combination have a profitable return on investment when they are put together. This filly's last speed fig is strong enough to score here, I'll play her right back today. I like that recent outing on October 21st at Parx Racing where she ended up first.

                    Vulnerable Contenders: #5 SHUDABEENACOWGIRL (ML=7/2), #8 TREASURE PEACE (ML=8/1), #10 SHE CAN SCAT (ML=8/1),

SHUDABEENACOWGIRL - You think this equine is going to finish first just because she's always close. Just doesn't win often. TREASURE PEACE - Nice race on October 13th at Parx Racing, but the fact that there are no workouts since has to make one a little worried. Difficult to put your dough on the win end of any mount that finishes second and third as frequently as this horse does. SHE CAN SCAT - This equine doesn't have a winning temperament. Very often finishes in the place and show hole. If she hasn't found the winning state of mind by now, it will be tough for her to get it today.
