Jeremy Plonk: Thursday Bet $100, Get $10 Aqueduct Plays

    November 5, 2025 | By Jeremy Plonk

We kick off November’s Cornucopia of Cash promotion with a Bet $100, Get $10 offer on Thursday’s action at Aqueduct. Each Tuesday and Thursday throughout the rest of the month, a different track will be spotlighted.
Let’s get to work on the Thursday action at The Big A.

    Aqueduct: Race 7

#10 Absolute Smoke (7-2 morning line odds) comes off a solid third-place run over the track in which the winner since has returned to win the Maid of the Mist Stakes. She was a well-bet 5-2 price in her Saratoga debut fourth, tipping her hand of perceived ability. Horses with last starts at Aqueduct have a strong statistical edge in November 2-year-old sprints at this meeting over those making debuts or coming off layoffs since Saratoga.

Win bet #10. Daily Double 10-1 to next pick. Pick 3 to next 2 picks using 10 with 1 with 10.

    Aqueduct: Race 8

#1 Nonna Lynne (7-2 morning line odds) makes the natural rise in class off her last allowance win over this course and distance. Chad Brown’s barn is winning 28% locally since the start of October and nearly 50% in the exacta. He’s 18: 6-3-1 during that time on turf with Manny Franco in the saddle. Morning line favorite #3 Gallant Greta has a big edge on speed figures, but failed at 3-5 against one of the runners in here that’s 10-1 morning line and doesn’t have to tower over the competition.

Win bet #1. Daily Double 1-10 to next play. Work backwards in the pick 3 to Race 6 with Brown’s favorite #3 Deep Learning, playing 3 with 10 with 1.

    Aqueduct: Race 9

#10 Lotus Petal (9-2 morning line odds) has an open-company $50,000 maiden claiming win on her ledger in a field loaded with state-bred graduates. She comes off back-to-back seconds at this class level and finds the right field to punch out after flattening in the lane twice.

    Win bet #10.

      Brian W. Spencer's Daily Picks

      Mahoning Valley - Race #5
#9 Mr. Riffle He has some tactical pace and solid recent form, and that might be all it takes in a modest group. Think you can hang your hat here unless one of the debuters thrives today.
#6 Pure Grinding He's not landing in a particularly difficult spot at first asking, so it'd be no surprise to see him score right out of the box. Take a look at him on the tote and track.
#3 Spark One Up He's the other fresh face in here, so get a look ahead of this, too.
Race Summary Mr. Riffle has some experience and reliable recent form in a race that otherwise seems to lack anything standout today.
      Mahoning Valley - Race #7
#5 Mia's Go She might appreciate the softer spot here, and something like her debut run might work in her favor to find a good spying run.
#4 Lil Red Beaudette Speed has not done much wrong through two starts, but I worry that a couple other forward players could keep him honest enough to soften him up.
#1 Mr. Sensei He has been facing some better groups than he's going to see here, and his baseline form might be good enough to compete at the local level. I'm uninspired, but I wouldn't argue too hard with you for landing here.
Race Summary Mia's Go has been flat in both tries with winners, but those groups were deeper than he's going to find today, and he might get a great run of things from just behind the speed players.
      Mahoning Valley - Race #8
#5 Jilly Runs Deep Hate to take too short a price on a runner going long for the first time, but I think her baseline form makes her tough, and she might find a perfect route rhythm while up close throughout.
#3 Ebony's Secret She makes some sense if the top choice can't stay, but she has been no serious threat when landing underneath shares with similar in a couple of those recent tries.
#10 Chardu She has a little bit of stretchout pace that could potentially make her at least a little dangerous, but she has a lot of tables to turn out of her recent starts.
Race Summary Jilly Runs Deep should be a handful here if she gets the sprint form around two turns, and I think she will.

        Frank Carulli's Daily Picks

        Woodbine - Race #3
#5 STERLING HEIGHTS Good spot, good trip projected for today’s Best Bet.
#6 MCGILL Can be excused for troubled break in latest, fits well of prior two starts.
#1 LIAM’S AWESOME Draws rail, needs some pace flow at proven distance.
Race Summary STERLING HEIGHTS rallied for a win and two thirds in her last four sprints and exited a ‘key’ race in between. She breezed 4F in :46.2 before her last start and can use her speed wisely in today’s long sprint. Bet to win and place and play 5-1 and 5-6 exactas.
        Woodbine - Race #4
#3 STRIKE A NOTE Appears rounding to winning race, stalked pace under rating in her last 7F try.
#11 CRUMLIN BEACH 3yo took money but flopped on the class drop, use in gimmicks at inflated price.
#2 FROGINAPOND Been facing several next-out winners, adds blinkers, reunited with Munger.
Race Summary STRIKE A NOTE changed tactics and raced up close for a half-mile against a follow-up winner in her first long sprint try, but she was under a snug hold on the backstretch in traffic in her latest start, gained steadily and got up to finish second. Bet to win and place and play a 2-3-11 exacta box.
        Woodbine - Race #5
#7 MORAL TURPITUDE Forged clear lead at 1/8th pole in Fort Erie stakes and got caught late.
#1 CANDID CANDICE Rallied into slow pace and ‘kept trying’ while adding another check to bankroll.
#2 P. S. RISING STAR Failed to sustain ‘premature’ middle move at same distance last out.
Race Summary Fort Erie invader MORAL TURPITUDE had an easy win and a near miss in a minor stakes race in her last two starts on a fast track at this distance. On her prior Woodbine visit, she saved ground throughout, tracked a slow pace on the all-weather track and was out-kicked by a deep closer for the win. Bet to win and place and play a 1-2-7 exacta box.

SOCIAL CHIC looks to be a very strong contender. Could provide positive dividends based on competitive recent speed figs with an average of 89. Horses who have been prepared to race at this distance and surface by Runco have shown strong results recently. Have to wager on this gelding with the formidable earnings per start in dirt sprint events. ROCKET APPEAL - Quite good choice to take this race going in a dirt sprint. I'M THE MONEY MAN - The class rating of today's contest is much lower than his last contest. Is a sharp contender based on figures posted as of late under today's conditions.

                #2 FAVORITE OUTLAW (ML=8/1)

CLASSIC MOMENT - Diaz comes to ride after getting to know the gelding in the last event. FAVORITE OUTLAW - Ran a lackluster race at Remington Park last time around the track. Racing on a fast track puts this gelding at the top of my contenders list.

                Vulnerable Contenders: #5 WIND OF CHANGE (BRZ) (ML=2/1), #3 MALIBU S S (ML=9/2), #1 DRINKS AT THE CLUB (ML=5/1),

WIND OF CHANGE (BRZ) - This horse hasn't been on the track since October 3rd. Not even any works. Finished first in his most recent effort with a most unsatisfactory speed rating. When I look at today's Equibase class figure, it would take an improved performance to triumph after that in this bunch. MALIBU S S - This gelding hasn't had any strong victories in short distance affairs in the last sixty days. Recorded a pedestrian speed rating in the last race in the Gold Cup on September 16th. Not probable to see an improved performance off of that fig. DRINKS AT THE CLUB - I find it hard to wager on any runner in a short distance affair if he hasn't finished in the money in a sprint in the last sixty days.

Top HatGUEST COMMENTARY: Winston - FAVORITE OUTLAW - This gelding is at the top in the bunch in earnings per start. I'm making a wager on this one.

TAM TAM is my choice. Players have been noting speed boosts from entries changing equipment (blinkers on today). Should go to the lead and might never look back. Is a key contender - given the 83 speed fig from her most recent race. MEASURE - She has been running soundly and the Equibase Speed Figures are among the best in this field. With better than average trips to the winner's circle, Ortiz will almost certainly have this filly in excellent position to win the race. ROCKIN ROBIN - Concepcion has very strong numbers that point to this filly to be a strong contender. Has to be carefully examined based on the very good speed rating posted in the last race.

                    #4 EMERALD LAKE (ML=5/1)

MORAL TURPITUDE - She keeps getting closer at the finish with each and every start. PP data show this horse with 3 improving speed figs. Alderson should be on a live one in this event. CANDID CANDACE - Smith drops her down to this class. You don't need too much more handicapping information to think this horse has a good chance at this level. Have to give this filly a good chance. Ran a good effort last time out within the last month or so. EMERALD LAKE - This mare is tops in earnings per race entered. Check out this horse in the saddling ring.

Vulnerable Contenders: #3 THAT GIRL ARTEMUS (ML=4/1), #6 SARATOGA EMPRESS (GB) (ML=6/1), #5 LAUGHING OUT LOUD (ML=8/1),

THAT GIRL ARTEMUS - Tough to play at 4/1 odds after the last two showings. Don't think this entrant will make an impact in today's race. That last speed figure was common when compared with today's Equibase class figure. SARATOGA EMPRESS (GB) - Garnered a substandard speed rating last time out in a $4,000 Claiming race on October 21st. Not probable to see an improved performance off of that fig.
