Jeremy Plonk: Horseshoe Indy Bet $100, Get $10 Best Bets for Thu.

    November 12, 2025 | By Jeremy Plonk

The 123-day racing season at Horseshoe Indianapolis wraps Thursday with a 13-race program that includes 11 for the Thoroughbreds and 2 for the AQHA set. To mark the closing-day card, 1/ST BET and Xpressbet roll out the Cornucopia of Cash promotion. Bet $100 on the Thursday card at Horseshoe Indy, get $10.

Here are my key plays on the card.

Horseshoe Indianapolis: Race 3 (1:46 pm ET)

#9 Sweet Saint (15-1 morning line odds) has won 4 of 5 and while routing recently, should adapt back to the sprint ranks fine with Joe Ramos in the saddle. He’s been on fire since Oct. 1 with a 50% rate in the exacta in local sprint starts with 33% wins from 46 starters. Win-place bet #9. Daily Double 9-11 to the next race and the same Randy Klopp-Ramos tandem.

Horseshoe Indianapolis: Race 4 (2:16 pm ET)

#11 Sleepy (4-1 morning line) steps up in class while riding a 3-race win streak, trying to add some offseason earnings at the close of the meet. Jockey Joe Ramos has been a dynamo in sprints the past month-plus (33% wins, 50% in exacta from 46 starters) and has paired perfectly with this gelding all 3 starts in tandem. Win bet #11.

Horseshoe Indianapolis: Race 10 (5:17 pm ET)

#4 Smokinghot Justice (6-1 morning line) missed the break from the rail in the Indiana Stallion when sprinting and should have more leeway now stretching out around 2 turns for the first time after 3 straight sprints from the inside post. Jockey Fernando de la Cruz is the A-pilot for trainer Aaron West, who is closing the meet on a strong training run. It’s notable the rider switches seats on West trainees this time vs. the last outing. Win bet #4.

      Brian W. Spencer's Daily Picks

      Mahoning Valley - Race #1
#6 Twerk Think she's going to get a really good run of things while tracking a couple of forward players drawn inside, and the last pair keep her in the mix right back today.
#5 City Signs Think she draws pretty well to attack some other speed, but she doesn't always back up her better runs, so I don't totally trust her today.
#2 Diamonds Dew Speed has a super-reliable page outside of the one run in stakes company, and she has some ability to sit and finish from close range, too. Price might be short, but she's the one to beat.
Race Summary Twerk should get a good trip from off the pace today, and I'm hoping she'll be a mildly playable number on the board based on her affinity for finishing underneath.
      Mahoning Valley - Race #7
#8 Miz Keeta Think there are a couple of forward players and a couple stretchout types who should ensure an honest tempo if this field stays intact, and this one has some occasional ability to get past horses. Maybe at a price.
#9 Countess Colette She's another who would benefit if all the potential pace and pressing types showed up, but she has found this level just a touch tough. One of the ones.
#4 Parlay She looks like the one to beat with some pretty honest form and a long string of stakes starts to her name, but I have a mild worry that she's caught up near an honest set of splits and just gets outkicked late.
Race Summary Miz Keeta could get overlooked here while getting an interesting race flow if she can bring one of her better efforts today.
      Mahoning Valley - Race #8
#3 Don't Stop Might be just enough pace in here to think he can get past this group late, and his local form has typically been pretty honest.
#6 Blazing Burroughs His better stuff does the job today, and he has the right style to prompt the pace from the start. That said, he does toss a dud every now and then, and the price is probably not very interesting.
#4 Streets of War Tougher test waits for him today, but he has looked good landing the last two. Worry the chalk is going to make a tough trip for him here.
Race Summary Don't Stop might be able to find a decent spying spot while never too far off the pace in a race with what I'm hoping is enough tempo to keep Blazing Burroughs honest.

        Frank Carulli's Daily Picks

        Delta Downs - Race #1
#9 BENT HALO (7-2) Drops below claim level off layoff, dirt form not as good as turf, still like chances.
#6 SELECTIVELY SWEET (5-2) Rallied for back-to-back seconds at 6-1/2F, takes on older rivals.
#8 DINAH’S GIRL (5-1) Awakened with blinkers, seeks third consecutive win for this barn.
Race Summary BENT HALO gets class relief, ran well off a shorter layoff in a turf route and can get the jump on the morning-line favorite SELECTIVELY SWEET, who unwound too late on the final turn two back at this level, trying to reel in the leader. Bet to win and place and play 9-6 and 9-8 exactas.
        Delta Downs - Race #2
#9 EASY BET (4-1) Good tightener, good bet with ideal set-up starting from the outside.
#3 DEBBIE’S PASSAGE (2-1 Speed in state-bred allowance ranks, adds blinks, one to beat.
#4 NOW SHOWING (12-1) Must show more, could do so for barn in midst of 12-for-50 run with claims.
Race Summary EASY BET dueled a long way on the inside in a long sprint, giving way in mid-stretch after four months away. She draws outside tonight but should sit a perfect stalking trip off a lively pace if she doesn’t get caught too wide. Bet to win and place and play a 3-4-9 exacta box.
        Delta Downs - Race #3
#10 NOT FREE (6-1) Lost backstretch momentum, finished behind pace-setting runner-up who won back.
#4 OUR NUGGET (5-2) Heavily bet again off 10-month layoff, didn’t factor from post 11.
#9 KNIGHT’S VALOR (20-1) Sheds weight, sheds blinkers, meets LA-breds after improved try.
Race Summary NOT FREE steadied briefly on the inside of a 3-way duel, recovered and took 3-wide aim for the stretch drive and finished evenly late for third as the favorite swept past all of them. She met next-out winners in her first three starts and can work out an ideal stalking trip from the outside in this field. Bet to win and place and play a 4-9-10 exacta box.

              Charles Town - Race #8 - Post: 10:17pm - Claiming - 8.5 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $15,100 Class Rating: 84

              Rating:

              #1 SOUPER WATSON (ML=8/1)
              #3 SWIFT TAP (ML=3/1)
              #5 MIDNIGHT AMBITION (ML=5/1)

SOUPER WATSON - Sophisticated analyzers will tell you that this entrant has strong speed. Has the inside track on the bullring coming out of the 1 post. Could corner the sharp turns and win going wire to wire. Lower weight assigned of -8. In my opinion, a movement of 5 is important, so this gelding falls into this category. This horse is in the top spot in earnings per race. He looks strong in today's event. SWIFT TAP - This thoroughbred coming off a solid try in the last thirty days is a serious competitor in my humble opinion. Santaella was aboard this gelding last time out and was impressed enough to take the horse right back. MIDNIGHT AMBITION - Have to make this gelding a strong challenger; he comes off a strong race on October 23rd. You have to like that last race speed figure, 84, which is the best last race speed figure of this group. Lets try to beat the morning-line choices with this gelding. Just missed last out, but ran a decent race.

              Vulnerable Contenders: #9 LAWYER UP RILEY (ML=7/2), #4 RIDICULOUS (ML=9/2), #7 ICETECA (ML=8/1),

LAWYER UP RILEY - Nice race on Oct 15th at Charles Town, but the fact that there are no workouts since has to make one a little worried. Earned a most unsatisfactory speed rating in the last race in a $5,000 Claiming race on October 15th. Not likely to see an improved performance off of that figure. RIDICULOUS - When you keep looking back through the TrackMaster past performances and don't see a victory recently, you have to say to yourself, 'Not worth it on this animal'. Tough to support any animal that runs as well as he did and then lays up and doesn't workout at all. ICETECA - This runner didn't do too much last time finishing fifth. Don't see any chance of any improvement today. Difficult to keep chasing this kind of 'hanger' horse. Doubtful that the speed figure he earned on Oct 24th will be enough in this clash.
STRAIGHT WAGERS: Play #1 SOUPER WATSON to win if you can get odds of 2/1 or more
              EXACTA WAGERS: 1 with [3,5]
TRIFECTA WAGERS: Box [1,3,5] Total Cost: $6
              SUPERFECTA WAGERS: [1,3,5] with [1,3,5] with [1,3,5,6,7] with [1,3,5,6,7] Total Cost: $36

OLLIE'S FOLLY gets the edge as the bet in here especially at 10/1. Has competed very well in dirt sprint races. PROSECUTOR - Could provide positive gains based on strong recent speed figures with an average of 67. He has a good opportunity in this competition as trainer, Guciardo, has sharp win rate with horses going this distance. EAGLE NEST - Always good to invest in a conditioner with this kind of very good win percentage - 28 percent - at this distance & surface. The average Equibase class rating alone makes this entrant a contender.

                  # 4 ZEEBEAR 4/1
                  # 2 HE HAS IT ALL 10/1
RUNAWAY JOKE is the most respectable bet in this race. Reliable average Equibase Speed Figures in dirt sprint races make this racer a key contender. With a solid jockey who has won at a competitive 22 percent clip over the last 30 days. This has to be one of the top selections. Dalessandro has him trained soundly to break quickly out of the starting gate. ZEEBEAR - Like the finish positions in the last few races. Appears to be the type to be helped on Lasix here. HE HAS IT ALL - This gelding has a strong winning percentage in dirt sprint races. Will probably go to the front end and may never look back.

                    Penn National - Race #3 - Post: 6:43pm - Claiming - 8.3 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $12,000 Class Rating: 85

                    Rating:

                    #5 STATELY ORDER (ML=8/1)
                    #4 FERRARI KID (ML=6/1)
                    #1 ARTISTIC REASON (ML=5/1)

STATELY ORDER - Has found a soft spot this time. FERRARI KID - This gelding is the longer price of the 'split' entry from the barn of Rojas. Changes tracks from last out at Presque Isle Downs to here. Multiple wins at different racing venues tell me this thoroughbred likes to switch it up, so that's a good sign. ARTISTIC REASON - Winless in his last three starts, this gelding did win on June 16th at Parx Racing versus tougher competition. This mount picks up a lot of dough per start. I believe he can increase that total in this field.

                    Vulnerable Contenders: #7 SPINNING MUSICIAN (ML=7/2), #2 TONY SMALL (ML=4/1), #3 CHECKITUP (ML=9/2),

SPINNING MUSICIAN - Pace makes the race. Tough for this early speedster to be able to manage the early pressure from the rest of this bunch. The fig last out doesn't fit very well in this contest when I look at the Equibase class figure of today's contest. Mark this mount as a likely underpriced equine. TONY SMALL - This gelding recorded a speed fig in his last clash which likely isn't good enough in today's race. CHECKITUP - Didn't close any ground whatsoever on October 29th. Hard to wager on this time at the expected odds. Equibase speed figs of 72/55/38 are going the wrong way.
