Al Cimaglia: Hoosier Park Early Pick 4 Analysis

    November 14, 2025 | By Al Cimaglia

Hoosier Park has a 14-race Friday night card. The 0.50 Early Pick 4 starts in Race 6. The sequence has a low 12% takeout, and it will be my focus. Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.

    Race 6 (7:25 PM EDT)

2-Banderas (5-1)-May have been in too deep in some races in Kentucky and should relish this company. Would benefit from a cozy trip and could get one tonight. Beat the one below at CBRN with an efficient trip and should be looking for that same journey when the wings fold.
6-Caviart Seacrest (5/2)-Won 3 straight at Mohawk, then shipped to CBRN and finished 2nd in 3 consecutive races. The short field won't hurt chances and could start a new win streak with the return to a another 7/8's oval.

    Race 7 (7:48 PM EDT)

5-Can'ttouchthese (3-1)-Won its 1st start for the new connections and will look to pick up another nice check. Comes right back for team DeLong and did beat 6 from this field last time. The filly does good work at HoP (25-14-2-5) and is a double up possibility leaving from a choice post.
6-Send It Down Slim (5-1)-Raced well last week and was used a couple of times but fell short to the one above by a length. That was its HoP debut and the 1st race in the Ryan Miiler barn. This time could be even better with a race over the surface.

    Race 8 (8:11 PM EDT)

5-Im Skinnydipin N (4-1)-This is the other entry from the Tyler George stable who came out of the pocket to lose by a nose to the one below last week. Hasn't solved the A-entry so far but could be overlooked late in the season and pick up a trip-out win.
6-Golden Bay N (9/5)-Winner of 4 straight had his way versus this kind all year. Will look to get on the engine again, and knows how to win, (25-13-3-1) this year. The race will likely go through this 6-year-old.

    Race 9 (8:34 PM EDT)

2-Flirtnwiththepilot (8-1)-Comes off a win and takes a big step up. Willing to take a swing, has danced with his kind before and could get an efficient trip with this post draw. Peter Wrenn steers his own and is in a spot to trip out.
7-Seven Sins (5/2)-Won last and now moves up, and this will be a bigger challenge. But did beat this kind back on 9-20 by getting a pocket ride. Trace Tetrick has some gate speed to use and could work that plan again.
9-Famous Father (9/2)-Its last win came at this level but started from post 4 that night. Could be overlooked here, and Luke Plano has enough gate speed to get a close-up seat. Could bring the heat in the back half of the mile and is a threat if in striking range when turning for the wire.

    $1 Early Pick 4

    2,6/5,6/5,6/2,7,9

      Gulfstream Park Pick 3, November 14, 2025

      November 14, 2025 | By Frank Carulli

      GULFSTREAM PARK PICK 3
      Friday, November 14, 2025

Gulfstream Park’s Rainbow Pick 6 wager features a $40,230 carryover pool this Friday, Nov. 14. The 20-cent wager covers races 4 through 9. If you can beat several short-priced favorites in the sequence, you could be the lone Jackpot ticket holder. But the favorites should have another big say as the pool grows. Here’s a look at the Pick 3 for races 6 through 8, with a suggested $2 ticket that costs $24.

GP 6th race (2:47 p.m. EST) -- HE’S A BEAST came back running off an eight-month layoff. He poked his head in front of the 4-to-5 winner at the top of the stretch and finished a clear second at 7F. The siblings of his stakes-winning dam are 38/8-8-5 going a route of ground. WHEELHOUSE broke through the gate in his lone start on conventional dirt three starts back and was headstrong while racing in-hand to the far turn. He made little headway on the dueling leaders in the stretch, but the winner was 2-to-5 odds and the runner-up followed with a one-mile MSW win at Parx with a 72 Beyer.

GP 7th race (3:16 p.m. EST) -- Catch her if you can, something none of REZASROLEX’S opponents have been able to do in her last six starts on Gulfstream’s synthetic track. She was dismissed at odds-on in all but one of the victories. BEIJING BOSS pressed and passed one 2-to-1 co-fave through blazing fractions, the held off the late charge of another 2-to-1 shot to break her maiden on turf. She showed marked improvement for her new barn and breezed 4F in :48.2 on the dirt track since then.

GP 8th race (3:46 p.m. EST) -- Leading trainer Saffie Joseph Jr. has a double threat in the featured $62,000 optional claiming race—and both can enhance his 16-for-78 streak with long layoff types. MISH is 10-for-35, a model of ultra-consistency, and earned half of his $599k bankroll at 6F. But don’t sleep on PRACTICALLY DARK, a six-figure earner at age 3 who breezed 4F in a blistering :45.4 from a series of workouts for his seasonal debut. The five rivals he defeated when he last won at Gulfstream are a combined 111/21-17-18 with more than $1 million in earnings. SPEAK EASY tries to recapture the promise of his 2024 debut when he posted a 100 Beyer speed figure. He showed some signs of a breakthrough last out, ranging up alongside pace-setting favorite PURE CLASS for the stretch run despite spotting the field several lengths with an awkward start. He stayed on willingly to finish third and can turn the tables on race winner PURE CLASS on the cutback to 6F.

      Suggested $2 Ticket
      GP 6th Race: 1, 4
      GP 7th Race: 5, 8
      GP 8th Race: 2, 3, 7
      Cost: $24

        Brian W. Spencer's Daily Picks

        Del Mar - Race #2
#1 Keep the Pavels Wonder if there might be a little bit of upside while getting around two turns, as her one-paced style going short suggests a route tempo might be just what she needs. Ready for better?
#7 Druliner She's probably supposed to win in this modest spot, but that also seemed like the case last time out, and I'm not excited to trust her again at a short price.
#2 Cecilia Street She showed a little bit of life last out when getting this trip for the first time, but she has to turn the tables on the likely chalk out of that last run. In the mix.
Race Summary Keep the Pavels might have some room to come forward while getting around two turns, as she might be able to rattle off some consistent quarters and stay in touch throughout.
        Del Mar - Race #4
#8 Cheever Would want every bit of the 5/1 morning-line price to jump in here, as he tends to be a bit of a grinder late, but I wonder if he might work out an OK trip while spying a couple quicker players early.
#5 Latitude He finished ahead of the top choice when they met last time out, and he probably brings some upside while going second time out. Looks like one of the ones in a fun race.
#2 Simple Song Think the top two are coming out of a bit better race, but this guy showed some solid pace at first asking and could stick around better with that race under his belt.
Race Summary Cheever should get a decent tracking trip here, and he has already run into a couple of tough customers along the way. Think he's in with a chance.
        Del Mar - Race #6
#1 Conquistadora She finished up OK in the debut try on the turf, and she has enough upside to be tough today if she likes the main track.
#8 Consequent Take a look at her and #5 Luckiest ahead of this one, as both go first time out for Baffert while racing long.
#3 Bank Shot She was no threat when a distant third last time out, but the winner was back to win the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies, so I wouldn't want to leave her off the plays.
Race Summary Lots of tough company lines in this spot, including from #7 Banzai Betty who isn't even listed in the top plays despite dropping out of a Grade II run. Take your pick in a fun race.

          Frank Carulli's Daily Picks

          Gulfstream Park - Race #1
#6 FINAL PAYMENT (5-2) Earned competitive debut speed fig against solid MSW rivals, day’s Best Bet.
#5 COFFEE AT K.J.’S (2-1 Gained late on MSW-dropping winner after seven months away.
#1 MORE THERAPY (12-1) Met seven next-out winners in his last five starts, use in gimmicks.
Race Summary FINAL PAYMENT worked forwardly for his MSW debut, but he broke slowly, raced wide and was no threat to the odds-on winner and 3-1 runner-up. He gets class relief, shortens up in distance and should be heard from in this field. Bet to win and place and play 6-1 and 6-5 exactas.
          Gulfstream Park - Race #2
#12 PLUM IRISH (5-1) Plenty to like if she doesn’t get caught wide from post 12.
#3 VUELA PALOMA (9-5) D’Angelo claim broke in air, recovered, but was denied by 15-1 winner.
#9 STUBOLD (9-2) Drops off claim for hot barn, hit board in 11 of 15 on synthetic track.
Race Summary PLUM IRISH spotted the field several lengths and didn’t recover from an awkward start last out. But she broke her maiden for $25,000, then chased another fast pace and finished third – between two follow-up winners with 67 and 62 Beyers – two starts ago. She draws post 12 today, but sheds 5 pounds on the class drop and can win if she doesn’t get caught too wide. Bet to win and place and play a 3-9-12 exacta box.
          Gulfstream Park - Race #3
#2 KAZOOZA (5-2) Chased and tired while debut fave and next-out MSW winner grabbed top spots.
#4 MY BOY STAN (9-2) Posted fastest of 37 workouts in final prep for his debut last Saturday.
#1 BLUEBERRYHILLKEKE (3-1) Barn merits utmost respect, but sire’s offspring are 0-for-75 in debut.
Race Summary KAZOOZA chased the 4-1 pace setter despite ‘racing a bit greenly’ in a field of all first-time starters, but he faded to finish sixth after the two favorites passed by to finish 1-2. He takes a magnified class drop in this field and removes the blinkers. Bet to win and place.

I think WARRIOR'S JUSTICE is a very good choice. Overall the Speed Figures of this pony look strong in this outing. Win percentage under similar conditions may be the key for this filly. Must be carefully examined based on the very good Equibase Speed Figure posted in the last race. ISLAND GOLD - Has longshot potential and could prove victorious at a big price. Has respectable Equibase Class Figures relative to this group - worth a look. GROUND CONTROL - Is a solid contender based on numbers put up lately under today's conditions. Competitive selection to take this race going in a dirt route.

                  Del Mar - Race #6 - Post: 3:04pm - Maiden Special - 8.0 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $60,000 Class Rating: 86

                  Rating:

                  #1 CONQUISTADORA (ML=4/1)
                  #7 BANZAI BETTY (ML=4/1)
                  #8 CONSEQUENT (ML=7/2)

CONQUISTADORA - Got some betting action in maiden race on October 3rd at Santa Anita, but finished third. Has a shot in this event. She may be way off the pace, but Kimura should be whipping her at the top of the stretch on the way to the wire. Maiden is moving over to the main track, and may not have liked the turf last out. Has a good chance to break maiden. BANZAI BETTY - Rode this horse on Oct 4th and Rispoli is right back in the irons in today's contest. Taking a class drop in class rating points from her Oct 4th race at Santa Anita. Based on that info, I will give this horse the advantage. This equine wins a lot of cash per race around the track. At the top in this affair. CONSEQUENT - Hernandez's agent must enjoy anytime Baffert gives them a mount; win percentage together is fantastic. It don't take a university education like someone like my buddy Brain has to figure this one out. We have a first time starter with a trainer (Baffert) who is wonderful taking horses out for the 1st time.

                  Vulnerable Contenders: #5 LUCKIEST (ML=6/1), #2 SHANE'S THE BRAINS (ML=6/1), #3 BANK SHOT (ML=8/1),

LUCKIEST - M/L odds of 6/1 make this horse a pass by my standards. BANK SHOT - This pony ran a run-of-the-mill speed figure last out. She shouldn't run better and will probably suffer defeat today running that fig.

GUEST COMMENTARY: Winston - CONQUISTADORA - The addition of the 'shades' should keep this filly's mind on business. Take stock in this beautiful animal today.

                    Woodbine - Race #3 - Post: 5:28pm - Claiming - 7.0 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $26,200 Class Rating: 78

                    Rating:

                    #3 THE NEW MAYBE (ML=8/1)
                    #8 MAGIC SLIPS (ML=9/2)
                    #10 ACTION POINT (ML=15/1)

THE NEW MAYBE - Tiller has this gelding signed up for the right event. MAGIC SLIPS - The rider/trainer duo of Munger and Douglas has a strong return on investment together. Trainer, Douglas, has been deliberate with this gelding off the layoff. Look for a solid effort today. This racer collects a lot of cash per start. I believe he can add to that total right here in this race. ACTION POINT - This thoroughbred could be tough today, especially since Johnson rode in the last race and now should be familiar with this one. It looks like the race should set up for a late runner. This gelding's running style fits the bill nicely.

                    Vulnerable Contenders: #1 SPARKLET (ML=3/1), #7 COHERENCE (ML=4/1), #5 COMPUTER HACKER (ML=6/1),

SPARKLET - Tough to wager on any horse in a sprint race at 3/1 when he hasn't shown any on the board results in sprints in the last couple of months. The speed fig last time around the track doesn't fit very well in this event when I look at the class figure of today's event. Mark this racer as a vulnerable contender. COHERENCE - The Brain cautions me to stay away from ponies in short distance contests that haven't finished in the money in short distance races recently. This entrant just hasn't looked fit recently. COMPUTER HACKER - In the last event this steed finished eighth. Doesn't look good for his chances today. Won't be easy for this thoroughbred to beat this group off of that last speed fig. Unlikely to improve enough to run a figure close enough to today's class figure, so put him on the possibly overvalued equines list.
STRAIGHT WAGERS: #3 THE NEW MAYBE is the play if we get odds of 4/1 or better

Race 4 - Maiden Claiming - 8.3f on the Dirt. Purse: $34000 Class Rating: 70

FOR MAIDENS, FILLIES TWO YEARS OLD. WEIGHT, 118 LBS. CLAIMING PRICE $25,000.
                      RECOMMENDED CHOICES
                      # 2 WHY 3/1
                      # 5 NOCHE DE DAMAS 5/2
                      # 6 COME ON POPPI 8/1
WHY should be supported as the bet in here. Zayas ought to be able to get this filly to break out early in here. Is difficult not to examine based on Equibase Speed Figures which have been decent - 59 avg - of late. She has recorded quite good figs under today's conditions and ought to fare well against this field. NOCHE DE DAMAS - Could beat this group of horses given the 59 speed figure garnered in her last outing. Has to be carefully examined against this group displaying quite good figures lately and an average Equibase Speed Figure of 59 under similar conditions. COME ON POPPI - With one of the most competitive jockeys in terms of profits at the window, don't count this filly out. Gil's ROI over the last month automatically makes this racer a solid contender.
