Fair Grounds - Race #5

#1 Aurora Sky	She ran on well in the debut at Churchill, and I think any step forward off that would make her a hard hitter if this one stays on the lawn.
#6 Twolatebabydoll	Turnback player has been finishing up OK but just flattening out late, so this move around one turn might help her kick home with a bit more enthusiasm today. In the mix.
#2 Chardan	There is some OK turf form on the page, but the main appeal here for me would be if this race comes over to the main, where her Laurel form from earlier this year would look compelling.
Race Summary	Aurora Sky gets the call if this stays on the turf, as her debut at Churchill was solid enough to think there might be more here.

Fair Grounds - Race #6

#3 Byword	Pace scenario is a bit murky in here, and I like that this one has pretty reliable tracking form that suggests he'll find a trip one way or another. Could be playable enough.
#7 Dick Best	Not all that enthusiastic about him, but he's got some on-again/off-again form that hints to better today after the turf clunker here last month, and he has a little bit of pace that could at least keep him in the right spot into the far turn. I don't know...
#2 Skip the Line	He wouldn't be any surprise with some back dirt form that fits off the dull turf run, and he's quick enough to be right up on the splits. Price may not be quite what I'd want?
Race Summary	Byword should get a good run of things while spying the slightly quicker players as they sort things out early. Not sure we get the 15/1 ML price, but I don't need all of that.

Fair Grounds - Race #8

#9 Huck's Agenda	Get a look at her on the tote and track ahead of this, but I don't find the existing form very interesting in this race, so I'm looking for a fresh face.
#1 Maddie's Garden	Tough to split the top pair for me on paper, so add her to the list of those to check out before the race. Guessing one of these top two will be ready enough to land this.
#4 Gus's Gal	She goes for the same team as the rail runner, so it wouldn't be a shock to see her in the mix, especially with Ortiz landing here.
Race Summary	Huck's Agenda is one of a few interesting new faces in what feels like a pretty modest race for the level. Get a look at all of them and trust your gut.

2^nd race [NY, Md 50000, 6F] – (3) Sociably Johnny (B) climbed going into the turn in his debut and finished second two weeks ago. (1) The Toy Cannon dropped in for a tag in his second start, went right to the lead, and missed the win by a neck. (7) Whiskey Runner was claimed from his first start for $30,000 when he pressed the pace and ended up third. (8) My Munny Talks will move from turf to dirt for Brad Cox after running in a maiden special weight at 3-1 and was second in the early going.

3^rd race [NY, Alw 81000 N1X, 6F] – (4) Three B’s (B) raced wide and missed by a neck in his return to state-bred competition. (3) Long Pour was fourth and second twice in similar NY-bred allowances since his maiden breaker at Saratoga. (2) Beary Funny returns from a February layoff when he was third in a similar spot and was the winner of three open-company claiming races in a row. (8) Roofer had the lead last month and finished third less than a length behind the Hot List horse.

4^th race [NY, Md 50000, 6F] – (1) Grit N Glitter was second in her first start beaten by less than a length in a sprint against open company. He stepped up in class and tried a mile to no avail. This will be her first try against state-breds as she drops down and cuts back in distance. (4) My Devine One ran in a claimer for the first time, moved from turf to dirt, and got a second behind the winner who came back to win again. (3) Ty Ty Rose will drop in for a tag in her third start for a trainer with good numbers when runners go into their first maiden claimer. (9) She’s Bankable is a daughter of a top New York sire Central Banker for a trainer that has good win stats with first-time starters.

7^th race [Comely (G3), 1 1/8 mi] – (6) Fully Subscribed won the Mother Goose (G2) by more than four lengths in her first start in a stakes race. (5) Kappa Kappa won 3 out of 4 career starts with victories in the Ravens Run (G2) at Keeneland in October and a state-bred allowance at Parx Racing before that. (3) Ourdaydreaminggirl was fifth in the Mother Goose and missed by a neck in a blanket finish in the Cotillion (G1) at Parx. (7) Yes It Tiz won a pair of allowances in her recent races at Kentucky tracks which were her only races on the dirt.

Best bets: Three B’s (3^rd); Fully Subscribed (7^th). Best value: Sociably Johnny (2^nd); Grit N Glitter (4^th).

1st race – (4) The Last Page had a wide trip in his debut. Should fare better here with a class drop. (2) Science Rockets should appreciate the added distance. (7) David Pepperman fits in with this group. (11) Rules of the Road is an interesting newcomer. Betting strategy: 4 to win, place. Exacta box: 2-4-7-11.

3rd race – (6) Mully’s Moon should respond to a return to Tapeta. (7) Time for Restraint shapes up as the main rival. (1) Jaker deserves attention off the Joseph claim. (2) Hillbilly Bob should be in the mix here. Betting strategy: 6 to win, place. Exacta box: 1-2-6-7.

5th race – (3) Skipping Stars comes off a second in a stakes and looks best here. (5) Teleport has speed and can be a presence throughout. (8) Alpyland looked sharp in a maiden win. (2) Strategic Reserve may take a liking to turf. Betting strategy: 3 to win, place. Exacta box: 2-3-5-8.

7th race – (6) R Tun Who is working swiftly for Joseph and can win at first asking. (1) Turkish Pistachio drops into a claimer and is the one to fear. (2) My Girl Nina will be a main threat back in a claimer. (7) Uni Merla is another interesting firster. Betting strategy: 6 to win, place. Exacta box: 1-2-6-7.

9th race – (10) Nemo has been racing in stakes and gets some class relief here. (2) Quereme Pass comes off a nice win and looms the top threat. (3) Bay of Bengal has sharp speed and cannot be ignored. (6) Lachaise will be helped by a fast pace. Betting strategy: 10 to win, place. Exacta box: 2-3-6-10.

I like to bet on this handicapping theory, a thoroughbred coming back off a solid effort within the last thirty days. Went a route in a $30,000 Claiming race at Horseshoe Indianapolis last race out from an outside post position. Moving to the inside at a similar distance should help this mare.
