A couple of very interesting Betmix Angler plays appeared when looking at Wednesday's racing from Tampa Bay Downs.

Tampa Bay Downs | Race 7 | 3:24 pm ET

#12 Princess Honor (15-1 morning line odds) gets a longshot look after cutting back from a Gulfstream 1-turn mile to this 7-furlong maiden claimer at Tampa. Such moves produced a remarkable 5 wins in the last 6 Tampa MCL attempts going back to April of 2022. Princess Harbor faced slightly better competition in 2 prior dirt losses at Tampa last winter, including an attempt vs. the boys. She showed some pace interest vs. fellow fillies. Win-place bet #12.

Tampa Bay Downs | Race 9 | 4:28 pm ET

#4 La Frost (9-2 morning line odds) won his debut race August 31 at Monmouth and has been sidelined since. Note that trainer Terri Pompay isn't known for winning first time out, so this debut score gets extra credit for that fact. Then consider that Pompay's 10 debut winners since 2015 have produced 4 next-out winners who made it 2-for-2 like La Frost attempts ($2.49 ROI for every $1 bet). Win bet #4.

Mahoning Valley - Race #4

#3 Supersonic Agenda	Don't think she's the most likely winner in here by any stretch, but she took a lot of heat up top in the last one and isn't meeting a whole lot of super-serious early burn today. Won't be a pace cakewalk, but I think she can control this one.
#2 Springhawk	Think he's dangerous on a couple fronts -- he's dropping out of a chasing try in stakes company, and he's quick enough to mix it up with the top choice early. Wouldn't argue with you.
#4 Unchained Spirit	Not totally sure what he beat in the debut score, but she looked pretty good doing it with a sharp move from off the pace. In the picture if she moves forward off that one.
Race Summary	Supersonic Agenda is one of a couple interesting fillies lined up with the boys in here, and I think her pace may be sharp enough to force the issue today in a spot without much committed speed.

Mahoning Valley - Race #7

#6 Big Lucky	Not sure you're getting the 5/1 ML offering out here, but he has super-reliable form and the right kind of style to score today with a perfect spying trip. Suppose the classier runners listed below could command enough cash to keep the number interesting.
#3 Just Be Quiet	She's lined up with the guys today, but she's a good fit after rolling a crew at Thistledown in her first start on the Ohio circuit. There are some pretty tough names in her company lines from those stakes tries, and her baseline makes her a threat right back with this bunch.
#2 Extradition	He's another with some pretty classy names on his page, and he at least showed a bit of life last time out after a really flat two-back run. In the mix, but I wouldn't be interested in a short price if that's what he's offering.
Race Summary	Big Lucky has been really sharp since bringing his game to Ohio, and I think he'll get a great run of things in this small group.

Mahoning Valley - Race #8

#1 Ernie's Martini	Tactical pace turned in a good one last time out and might get a decent run while settled in just behind the quicker players early.
#5 Thirsty John	Torn here -- think his recent Mountaineer form is pretty compelling, but he has typically needed straight claiming company for his best stuff and might be meeting just enough pace to make things dicey late. Really not sure. Trust your gut.
#7 The Doorman	There are a couple of decent finishing efforts in those route races on his page, and maybe a decent pace gives him a chance to close well at this sharper trip for the new team?
Race Summary	Ernie's Martini has some appeal in here while likely tucking in just behind the pace on the fence. Tips out or comes through off the turn?

Race Summary	I’M HUNGOVER, slowed by the pace in a MSW turf-to-dirt route race, returns to the lawn and for a claiming tag. She closed with a flourish to just miss in a shorter grass route three starts ago and wears blinkers for the first time today. Bet to win and place and play 9-4 and 9-8 exactas.

Tampa Bay Downs - Race #7

#10 STEADY FLO (9-5)	Met better in latest at this level, gets Camacho, strictly the one to beat.
#1 LADY LYLA (8-1)	Much improved main-track effort off three-month layoff, price attached.
#3 JENN SWEET JENN (3-1)	Ran to fast local workout with wide rally for another runner-up finish.
Race Summary	In a field of unproven long sprinters, STEADY FLOW stands out. She picks up 10 pounds and draws outside, but she can control the pace, nonetheless. She tracked the two favorites to the quarter pole while 3-wide but lacked stretch kick at 6F last out. Bet to win and place and play a 10/1, 3, 7/ALL trifecta. Use the also-eligibles on the trifecta ticket if they draw into the race.

Tampa Bay Downs - Race #8

#7 BATI KING (4-1)	Earned solid speed figures against quality rivals in prior two starts at 7F.
#3 ELUSIVE D’ORO (7-2)	Chance to upgrade in-the-money finishes off claim, projects good stalking trip.
#1 DANZA TAXI (9-2)	Lightly-raced 5-year-old has speed and the rail and knows how to win.
Race Summary	BATI KING earned three low-70 Beyer speed figures in his last seven starts on the main track, not counting his victory two back in a three-horse field. He met the likes of Impacto (5-11, $141k) and Santos to Wilson (35/6-7-5, $204k) in his last two races at today’s 7F distance. Make a win and place wager on today’s Best Bet.

2^nd race [Moc 75000C, 6F] – (3) Game For It is a first-time starter for Chad Summers who shows a couple of very fast workouts. (7) Sixer was fifth in his debut last month after a troubled start that put him far behind. (4) First Blessing gets blinkers on after a pair of fourth-place finishes. (6) Slay Sadie Slay is another firster that began his training at Churchill Downs and starts for Rick Dutrow.

3^rd race [Clm 17500 N2L, 6F] – (3) Casilda drops down to the lowest level in her career after two starts against horses that were way too good. She has early speed which should put her on the lead against this field. (8) Tammy’s Cruiser comes back from an April layoff when she was claimed for $20,000 by Linda Rice after running third. (2) Timia was claimed from a third-place finish in a similar spot last month. (1) Mia Nipotina has 14 top three finishes and should be considered for wagering underneath in the trifecta.

5^th race [NY, Md 30000, 6 ? F] – (6) Island Charlie returned from a seven-month layoff in a turf route where he set the pace and will try a claimer for the first time. (9) Hello Newman switched from turf to dirt for the first time and ran third. (7) Army Proud has recent second and third-place finishes. (5) Monte Avi has been off since March and hit the board three times in maiden claimers.

8^th race [Clm 17500 N2L, 6F] – (5) Shoot the Nickel drops down to the lowest level of his career and contended against much tougher in starter allowances. (2) Leading Role was third last month in a similar spot after racing eight-wide. (7) Wajda came back from a seven-month layoff to set the pace and finish second. (4) Cousin Ed moves from turf to dirt but did break her maiden on the main track for a $50,000 tag which was her only start on the dirt.

Best bets: Game For It (2^nd); Island Charlie (5^th). Best value: Casilda (3^rd); Shoot the Nickel (8^th).

I've got to go with NATIVE STAR particularly if the morning line of 10/1 holds. THROWIN' SHADE - Should expect a reliable attempt with the class drop. Must be given a chance given the class of races run recently. PITCH AND RUN - Dunn has this gelding travelling well and is a strong pick based on the solid speed figs recorded in route races as of late. Win percentage under similar conditions may be the key for this gelding.

BOX OFFICE - Looking at today's class figure, this racer is meeting an easier field than last time out at Charles Town. Have to make this colt a serious competitor; he comes off a nice effort on December 4th. A win percent like 34 is good for any jockey/conditioner twosome. A repeat of that recent race on December 4th where he registered a rating of 71 looks good enough to triumph in this race. This animal is utmost in earnings per race. He looks sharp in today's clash. JUST FOR GIGGLES - Really have to figure this horse is going to be right there at the wire. IL MARCHESSE - Farrior has an 'uncoupled' entry here. Best to watch out for the longer priced half.

ELECTIONEERING - Didn't meet expectations as the favorite back to back. EMIRATES HONOR - This gelding is always around, but just doesn't get the job done. Difficult to wager on him on the top end. Mediocre speed rating last out at Penn National at 1 mile 70 yards. Don't believe this mount will improve too much in today's race. FABELMAN - I cannot play this continual non-winner. Gets the job finished once in a while.

FREAKIN PATRIOT DASH - Has a very strong shot in this race if you like back class. JESS CATCH THIS - Should best this group of animals here, showing very strong numbers of late. Has been moving admirably and has among the top speed in the race for today's distance.

BEYONDEXPECTATIONS - This gelding is very reliable, frequently finishing in the money. This jockey and trainer have a beneficial return on investment when they team up. MARVELOUS MO - Numerous positive 'vibes' connected with this horse and his barn.

Vulnerable Contenders: #2 TROTSKY (ML=5/1), #4 REAL MEN VIOLIN (ML=6/1), #8 PILOTE COMETE (ML=8/1),

TROTSKY - Didn't come through as the favorite the last two times. Probably won't gain a score today either. REAL MEN VIOLIN - This gelding hasn't had any in the money results in short distance affairs in the last couple months. PILOTE COMETE - Placed much too far in the rear on June 13th for me to wager on at the probable odds in today's sprint affair. The speed rating in the last race doesn't fit very well in this event when I look at the Equibase class figure of today's race. Mark this racer as a vulnerable competitor.

Always excellent driver-conditioner tandem. 29 percent winners when they combine to do work. OLAF DU LAC - Has the makings of a profitable play, averaging a rather good 69 speed figure. He has formidable class ratings, averaging 69. Worth considering for a bet in here. DANCELIKE EHSKIPPR - Could very well provide us a win based on really good recent TrackMaster Speed Ratings - earning an avg of 71. This gelding has been squaring off against some of the most competitive horses in this group of animals lately.
