Fair Grounds - Race #4

#2 Hear Thunder	He's bred to be a decent one, and getting Ortiz up at first asking isn't a bad thing, either. Get a look at him on the tote and track.
#7 Dickie T	He ran well in the debut try and would be a handful here with any reasonable upside, and he draws well to spy the action from out here. Dangerous.
#4 A G's Charlie	He's another with a big pedigree for this kind of crew, and the barn has done some good work with fresh faces locally in past seasons. In the mix.
Race Summary	Hear Thunder goes first time out in a race that feels like it has a decent bit of established form -- so demand a fair price for the debuter here.

Fair Grounds - Race #5

#3 Pencil Bluff	He made only a mild move at first asking before flattening a bit late, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him sustain that kind of run a little bit better here with that race under his belt.
#4 Zun Reyder	He showed some life when getting in for a tag last time out while finishing in front of the top choice, and he has some reasonable upside in the second start off the bench.
#11 Just Bernie	He's quick enough to work out a trip from out here, but I worry about how he gives away ground late in all his races and think he could be vulnerable to getting picked up again late here.
Race Summary	The top three all exit the same spot, and I think they might be trading decisions today. Pencil Bluff is not exposed after only the one start, and a logical move forward today would make him tough.

Fair Grounds - Race #7

#10 Starina	Her form leaves a bit to be desired, but she has a decent finishing kick and tries the turf for the first time here. She gets a spot with what feels like a decent bit of pace, so I'm hoping this sharper trip wakes her up a little bit while racing fresh today.
#9 I'm Mo Joke	She's the more logical finisher here with some proven turf form, and she owns a couple of solid races over the local course. In the mix.
#6 Biles	Don't love the race flow on paper for her, but she has some dangerous pace and gets class relief here while dropping out of that Grade III try at Woodbine.
Race Summary	Starina has been finishing on the main track in the races on her page, and I wonder if this kind of trip and new footing give her some room to move forward at an OK price.

(4) Sweet Lazarus is worth a look off a maiden win. (1) Proud American could be a threat from the rail. Betting strategy: 3 to win, place. Exacta box: 1-3-4-7.

3rd race – (7) Mithril switches to Irad after a pair of seconds and looks best. (1) Dear Scarlett may like Tapeta. (3) Ballycurrin should be effective at this level. (5) Game Changer Jolie fits in nicely here. Betting strategy: 7 to win, place. Exacta box: 1-3-5-7.

4th race – (6) Lady O’Brien gets the nod in a weak field. (5) Awesomely Wild should be closing nicely at the end. (4) Worth Considering gets back on dirt here. Betting strategy: 6 to win, place. Exacta box: 4-5-6.

7th race – (1) Demar’s Legacy has a lot of speed and should be hard to catch from the rail. (3) Musical Design won his last start and should be the main threat. (4) Heir to the Roar should be a factor in the final furlong. (5) Baby Blocks could be a threat in this field. Betting strategy: 1 to win, place. Exacta box: 1-3-4-5.

9th race – (6) Only in America should perk up on a wet track. (2) Beastly Speed was second last time and should be in the exotics. (8) Accelerize was a good third last time and could be formidable here. (7) Philharmonic ships in from Finger Lakes and seeks a third straight win. Betting strategy: 6 to win, place. Exacta box: 2-6-7-8.

1^st race [Md 35000, 6 ? F] – (5) Marajoline (A) went wide all race and rallied for third in a blanket finish in her return to the dirt. (1) Asking will drop down and cut back in distance for Bill Mott. (6) Doppio Espresso gets the services of leading rider Flavien Prat as she switches to dirt after three turf tries. (7) Lucky Lucky Me will make her debut with a fast workout showing.

2^nd race [NY, Md Sp Wt, 1 mi] – (1) Morgana’s Moment (B) showed early speed in her November debut at 4-1 but kept bearing out while racing greenly. Blinkers on now. (3) Lady Delilah moved from turf to dirt, set the pace, and finished second clear of the rest. (7) Bodegas finds an easier field than in her prior starts in maiden special weights. (2) On a Summer Day moves from turf to dirt after getting the lead and missing by a neck going long on the grass.

3^rd race [OC 50k/N1X, 1 1/8 mi] – (5) Noted (B) lunged at the break, got six lengths behind, prefers to set the pace, and got claimed for $40,000. (1) Whittington Park was third in the Empire Classic for NY-breds in October and the winner of a second-level allowance in September. (6) Double Your Money won his last two races in starter allowances at Aqueduct and Churchill Downs. (7) Dreamlike hit the board in a pair of first-level allowances at the Big A.

6^th race [NY, Md 30000, 6 ? F] – (1) Makealittlelove (B) had a slow start in her first race on the dirt, went four wide, and finished second well clear of the others. (3) Island Charm set the pace and finished third for a $50,000 tag against open company. (6) Baseball Lady pressed the pace in a few starts for a bigger claiming price and cuts back from running the one-turn mile. (4) Sassy Sats moves from turf to dirt and drops in for a tag for the first time and has shown some early speed.

HIGH VIEW - I like a racer that manages to be in the money as often as this filly. Almost always in the money so don't leave her out of your exotic bets. This jockey and trainer's equines have been generating a profitable return on investment. I like this filly. Has the top EPS (earnings per start) in here. Last out, ran the last quarter in less than 25 ticks. To me, that's a good indication she can close well, and should be right there at the finish in today's contest. MY DEAR ANTONIA - Came home fast in the last race at Laurel. That type of move bodes well for her chances in today's race. Last raced at Laurel with a poor post position. I swiped some data from The Brain, and his computer says the inside should be a big help to this one today. NOBODY'S GIRL - Using this rider/trainer combination is a good choice. I like to wager on this handicapping angle, a horse coming back off a good contest within the last month. The outside draw didn't help this horse's chances last time around the track at Laurel. Today's inside post should be just fine.
