Mahoning Valley - Race #6

#2 Ruby River	She hasn't always been quick enough to find the front, but a couple of her best races came when she was able to secure the lead, so I'm hoping she can break well and control this one from the start in a race without a ton of serious early burn.
#1 Trish	She makes a lot of sense here with decent and reliable Finger Lakes form on her page, but she's getting short on excuses and figures to take some cash here. Capable, but I'm indifferent.
#8 Night Birdie	She occasionally gets past some horses and owns a couple of efforts that might do the trick here, but she's another who might take a bit of cash with the out-of-town form.
Race Summary	Ruby River ran well last out when she found the front, and I'm hoping it's that simple for her today. Mildly playable as maybe the second choice?

Mahoning Valley - Race #9

#10 S'mor Crafty	Not totally sold here, but I do think the cutback should help the cause today, and this is a softer group than she has seen in those recent starts. She obviously needs a big bounce-back effort, but that wouldn't be a shock with this crew.
#9 Credit Check	Her form is tactical enough to keep her in a good spot turning for home, and but I also think she's likely to find one or two of these a bit too good today. Tough call.
#6 Siofra	She might be tough here if she can attack the other committed pace player early on, and this is an easier spot than she has seen in some of the recent tries.
Race Summary	S'mor Crafty is bringing really flat form, but there are a couple of built-in excuses you can use if the price is appealing enough.

Mahoning Valley - Race #10

#3 El Canelo One	Hoping there is just enough pace lined up to here to set the table for his late run if he can hold the decent form from the last try behind the 3/2 chalk winner. I'll take it at face value.
#12 Dream Boy	Think his better stuff makes him an obvious player, especially while dropping back in with friends today, but he was flat at this level two starts back and will be making his sixth start in about 10 weeks. A rebound run wouldn't surprise, but I have a couple reservations. Price will influence the final opinion, too.
#11 Rogues A Plotting	Went back and forth, because part of this feels like a trap, but he showed a little speed and grit in the good debut run, and any reasonable move forward off that would handle this crew from a draw that gives him the ability to hassle anyone else who wants to flash pace.
Race Summary	A lot of these local statebred special weights can feel underwhelming, but this one actually seems pretty fun. Didn't even list #8 Dragon Hunter, who has a similar speed-with-upside profile to Rogues a Plotting, so I think you can make a good case for several of them. Let the tote guide you, but I'm going to lean to El Canelo One if the race shape holds after scratches.

Race Summary	WELCOMETOMYHOLIDAY, ambitiously placed in a comeback allowance against Louisiana breds, is well-placed in this $20,000 claimer at 5F. She gets in light-weighted and can be on or near the lead a long way for a barn in the midst of a 3-for-11 run (with a $3.96 ROI) with second-off-the-layoff types. Bet to win and place at a tempting price and play a 4,6/2-4-6/ALL trifecta.

Delta Downs - Race #2

#4 WICKED PUNCHES (3-1)	Won at 1M, slowed by pace in latest, met several next-out winners.
#9 LOUISIANA LUCA (5-1)	Pressed pace at this level two back before rallying trio passed by.
#8 DUE WE DARE (6-1)	Edged ‘Luca,’ led and held second in last two 1M runs on Delta main track.
Race Summary	WICKED PUNCHES rallied into a slooow pace while wide on the final turn and got beat 2-3/4 lengths by the winning favorite, who got the jump on the closers. He gets an extra half-furlong and, presumably, a livelier pace flow to run down his first win in 10 starts at Delta. Bet to win and place and play a 4,9/4, 8, 9 exacta.

Delta Downs - Race #6

#7 VENICE VIBE (6-1)	Can carry speed farther in second try at this level, sheds blinkers.
#8 ANSLIE’S GUMDROP (5-1	Rallied for third off layoff in first start for high-percentage barn.
#6 FLOATING (7-2)	Landed minor awards in three consecutive starts at this level.
Race Summary	In a field that was a combined 6-for-86 last year, VENICE VIBE appears a good all-or-nothing type option at 6-1 on the morning line. The lightly-raced 4-year-old faded on an ‘off’ track, but she raced close-up to the stretch in her two previous starts for twice this price. She fired a bullet 3F workout in :36 from the gate since then. Bet to win and place and play 7-6 and 7-8 exactas.

LOOKS LUCKY TO ME - Appears to be the type to be helped on Lasix here. This mare with Forde in the saddle makes her a definite contender. LADY HAMILTON - Has a solid shot in here if you like back class. Ought to come out very strong - I have liked the way this mare has moved promptly to the front end recently.

HOPE SHE FIRES - Earned a somewhat easily forgotten rating in the last race in a $10,000 Maiden Claiming race on December 31st. Not likely to see an improved performance off of that figure. UNTOUCHABLE - 4/1 is just too low of a reward to take on most any animal that has run poorly in back to back efforts. This pony ran a substandard speed fig last time around the track. She shouldn't run better and will likely suffer defeat today running that figure. ALICE FANTASTIC - 5/1 odds isn't enough for this participant when scrutinizing the most recent efforts. Not probable that the speed fig she notched on December 8th will be enough in this race.

She has the highest earnings per start. Take a long look at this thoroughbred. JASSAI - Just see her most recent speed fig, 73. That one looks good in this field. This mare is in good condition, having run a good race on December 20th, finishing second. 48-53-73 are last 3 speed figures. Improving each time out is something she should do again in this field.

When the trainer Burke puts Wrenn up for the drive very good things happen. All you need to do is look at the 26 win percent. MYSTIC BELL - A competitive win percentage has been earned by solid standardbreds starting from the 5 position.
