Meet the Contenders: Saturday’s Pegasus World Cup Day at GP

    January 19, 2026 | By Jeremy Plonk

The stars will be out Saturday afternoon at Gulfstream Park when the 10th edition of the Pegasus World Cup anchors a 13-race program featuring 8 major stakes. From turf sprinters and routers to high-class distaffers and the cast for the $3 million headline attraction, there’s something for everyone.

Horseplayers take note of the $10,000 Exacta-Thon promotion on Saturday’s Gulfstream Park card when you bet with 1/ST BET and Xpressbet. Also take part in the up to $10 money-back special on win bets for the Pegasus World Cup Filly & Mare Turf, Pegasus World Cup Turf and Pegasus World Cup when playing with 1/ST BET and Xpressbet.

Let’s meet the contenders for the Pegasus World Cup Day:

Race 5: Grade 3 $175,000 Christophe Clement Stakes

#5-FIONN: Grade 1 Belmont Oaks Invitational winner scored 4 stakes during a nearly $2 million campaign in 2025 for trainer Brad Cox. It’s the first of 2 key pairings on the program between Cox and jockey Flavien Prat, culminating with the Pegasus World Cup favorite Disco Time.

Race 7: $175,000 Gulfstream Park Turf Sprint Stakes

#2-KHAADEM: Royal Ascot Group 1 winner and Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint third-place finisher returns to the US after contesting the prestigious Group 1 Hong Kong Sprint. British trainer Charlie Hills looks for a second American score with this 10-year-old who captured Keeneland’s Grade 2 Woodford Stakes in October.

    Race 8: Grade 3 $175,000 Fred W. Hooper Stakes

#1-LIFE AND TIMES: Potential rising star owns a pair of romping victories with big speed figures to open his career. This Todd Pletcher-trained 5-year-old was late to the party, but the son of Triple Crown winner Justify makes his stakes debut.

#6-KNIGHTSBRIDGE: Trainer Bill Mott and jockey Junior Alvarado are back in the Gulfstream spotlight a season after Sovereignty launched an expected Horse of the Year campaign locally. This Nyquist colt won Gulfstream’s Mr. Prospector on Dec. 23 to improve to 5-for-7 lifetime with an average win margin of nearly 7 lengths.

    Race 9: Grade 3 $225,000 Willam L. McKnight Stakes

#3-OHANA HONOR: Last out winner of Aqueduct’s Knickerbocker Stakes is Grade 1-placed for trainer Shug McGaughey. He’s part of a stacked hand jockey Flavien Prat will play on Saturday, and that rider has been aboard in each of this 6-year-olds’s most recent wins.

Race 10: Grade 2 $500,000 Pegasus World Cup Filly & Mare Turf

#7-WHISKEY DECISION: Morning line favorite has won 2 of 3 since coming to trainer Chad Brown, Monmouth’s Eatontown and Aqueduct’s Athenia Stakes. Jockey Flavien Prat has been named to ride all 3 favorites in the Pegasus World Cup series of races Saturday.

#8-PROCTOR STREET: Cardinal Handicap winner at Churchill has scored 3 of her last 4 starts and is 5-for-8 overall. Brendan Walsh-trained daughter of Street Sense makes her graded-stakes debut.

#11-IN OUR TIME: Nearly wired this race last year for trainer Saffie Joseph Jr. and will be expected on the front end looking to snap a length run over second and third-place stakes results.

Race 11: Grade 2 $225,000 Inside Information Stakes

#8-STERLING SILVER: 7-year-old mare won the Rampart Stakes here Dec. 26 in her first Gulfstream start, notching an 11th career victory and upping her bankroll to more than $1.3 million. Javier Castellano riders here in the rematch between the 1-2-3 Rampart finishers.

Race 12: Grade 1 $1 million Pegasus World Cup Turf

#1-TEST SCORE: Grade 1 Belmont Derby Invitational winner has earned just under $1.5 million for trainer Graham Motion. Well-traveled sort makes his second Gulfstream appearance, third in last year’s Kitten’s Joy, and will take on elder horses for the first time.

#2-PROGRAM TRADING: Morning line favorite for Chad Brown and Flavien Prat, this 6-year-old has made only 10 starts. Half of those have been wins, including the Grade1 Hollywood Derby and Grade 1 Turf Classic at Churchill Downs. He looks to bounce back from a troubled trip in the Breeders’ Cup Mile.

#4-ONE STRIPE: Star South African jockey Gavin Lerena makes a notable appearance on this multiple Group 1-winning export. Dec. 26 allowance winner over the course at Gulfstream Park readies him after dueling and tiring in the Breeders’ Cup Mile. Graham Motion trains.

Race 13: Grade 1 $3 million Pegasus World Cup

#1-DISCO TIME: Undefeated 8-5 morning line favorite looks to run his perfect record to 6-for-6. Brad Cox and Flavien Prat team up with the Lecomte, St. Louis Derby and Dwyer winner who makes his first Grade 1 and longest career attempt.

#3-FULL SERRANO: The 2024 Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile winner exits a fifth-place finish in his title defense at Del Mar. Trainer John Sadler has seen the Argentine export bag more than $900,000 since arriving in the US. Joel Rosario rides.

#7-TAPPAN STREET: The 2025 Florida Derby winner has made all 4 career starts at Gulfstream Park, winning 3, including a memorable defeat of Sovereignty over this same 1-1/8 miles trip. The $1 million yearling buy by Into Mischief won his local return prep Dec. 19 and will partner with Luis Saez for Brad Cox.

#11-WHITE ABARRIO: Legendary, 8-for-10 Gulfstream Park resume includes wins in the 2022 Holy Bull and Florida Derby as well as the 2025 Pegasus World Cup. He’ll try to become this race’s first 2-time winner. Trainer Saffie Joseph Jr. teams with Irad Ortiz Jr., who has ridden 3 Pegasus World Cup winners in the past 6 years. White Abarrio's 2024 Breeders’ Cup Classic score has helped him rack up more than $7 million lifetime.

Race of the Week: Gulfstream's Pegasus Day Inside Information | Saturday, January 24, 2026

      by Jeremy Plonk

      The Lead:
Pegasus World Cup Day at Gulfstream Park is stacked to the rafters with important stakes action. Get full coverage of the Pegasus World Cup, Pegasus World Cup Turf and Pegasus World Cup Filly & Mare Turf inside the free 1/ST Pegasus World Cup Wager Guide. I'll look to a great betting race on the undercard in this space, as the Race 11 Inside Information is sandwiched between the big, featured trio. After a nice $451 return in last week's Race of the Week at GP, let's keep the waves building in South Florida.

Horseplayers at Xpressbet and 1/ST BET be sure to opt in and take part in the $10,000 Pegasus World Cup Day Exacta-Thon for Gulfstream Park. Also, players on those platforms can take advantage of up to a $10 money-back special on win bets in the Pegasus World Cup, PWC Turf and PWC Filly & Mare Turf.

      Field Depth:
Grade 2 winners here include INDY BAY, JODY'S PRIDE and VERITY. JODY'S PRIDE and DAZZLING MOVE arguably have kept the strongest company lines in the field.

      Pace:
Several want to be pressing the tempo, but the most committed front-runners could be GRFAND JOB and DAZZLING MOVE, the latter coming out of a route. The pace should be solid, but not certain to overheat.

      Our Eyes:
      Here are my horse-by-horse notes.

#1-INDY BAY: Charles Town Oaks winner is 1 of 3 entrants here for trainer Saffie Joseph Jr. Consistent work pattern since being eased in September, but obviously a difficult read. Jockey Irad Ortiz Jr. aims for a 3-peat in the Inside Information, winning with Olivia Darling and Mystic Lake (the latter also for Saffie Joseph Jr.) the past 2 years. Seven furlongs taking pressure from rail is a difficult assignment having never run fresh prior.

#2-NECESSITY: Rampart runner-up may be hard-pressed to get there going 7 furlongs, but fired a bullet workout of that race and seemingly holding form. Trainer Riley Mott makes rare pairing with Manny Franco.

#3-JODY’S PRIDE: Classy mare ran at the Grade 1 level at ages 2, 3 and 4. She’s proven better on dirt than turf and should appreciate the return to favored surface. Narrowly missed in this race last year when third by a neck and gets stakes ace Flavien Prat in the saddle. Contends.

#4-HER LAUGH: Second Riley Mott charge in the lineup, she returns off a dull fifth in the La Brea at Santa Anita. Lot of travel to and from, leaving spot for only 1 workout since and not much to glean from it. Jose Ortiz rides. Prefer others.

#5-CLARET BERET: Inconsistent mare fits well at the 7-furlong distance but you just never know which version will show up. Second of 3 Saffie Joseph Jr. charges in the lineup would require double-digit win odds to get interested. Her best could contend.

#6-BEYOND BELIEF: Back-to-back local 7-furlong allowance wins for Kelly Breen, who saddled 2016 Inside Information winner Stonetastic. Had been a cut below this level in prior stakes bids, but is in career form now and should be near the pace throughout.

#7-DAZZLING MOVE: Jockey John Velazquez seeks a record-padding seventh win in the Inside Information. Mare disappointed in the Rampart and has won just 1 of her last 11. The 0-5 record at 7 furlongs takes this third Saffie Joseph Jr. trainee in the lineup off my radar.

#8-STERLING SILVER: At age 7 would be the oldest winner of the Inside Information, which dates back to 1976 when run as the Shirley Jones. Rallied to win the Rampart over a mile here Dec. 26, but has won 4 times at the 7-furlong trip in her career. Jockey Javier Castellano is a 3-time winner of this stakes. Legit threat.

#9-PATRICIA ANN: Winless in 4 stakes while getting 3 minor checks, we’ll see if the barn change from Carlos Martin to Jose D’Angelo changes her fate. Has run well over 7 furlongs and should be part of the pressing brigade under Luis Saez.

#10-ONE MAGIC PHILLY: Looked like a future star in the second half of 2024, but plateaued and has lost 7 straight stakes (a Keeneland allowance win in October breaking up the skid). Brendan Walsh has gotten similar results to previous conditioner Phil D’Amato. Beaten favorite in the Rampart isn’t overmatched, but likely finds a few better.

#11-GRAND JOB: Speedster has made the front in all 5 starts since coming stateside from Ireland. She’s won 3 of those, narrowly missed in the 1-1/16 miles Royal Delta over this track and the caved late in November when last seen. That poor performance inflates her price (favored in 4 straight). She’s freshened, working fast, but sporadic. Trainer Bill Mott won this race in 2006 and 2007.

#12-VERITY: Solid 3-year-old sprint stakes filly last spring for Eoin Harty but the Godolphin charge has raced only once since May. Decent return second in a November allowance sprint at Churchill should set her up in terms of form cycle, but she’s unproven against elder stakes foes and over the GP main.

      Most Likely Exotics Contender:
JODY'S PRIDE is 6-6 in the superfecta in 1-turn dirt races in her career, including a photo-finish third in this race last year.

      Best Longshot Contender:
GRAND JOB should be much bigger price than her previous tries, and his proven over the track and distance with a chance to get bold on the lead.

      Sending it in ($100 bankroll):
$50 win GRAND JOB. $10 exacta key-box GRAND JOB with JODY'S PRIDE and STERLING SILVER ($40). $.50 trifecta part-wheel GRAND JOB with JODY'S PRIDE, STERLING SILVER with ALL ($10).

Scott Shapiro: Pegasus Saturday $10,000 Exacta-Thon Promo Plays

        by Scott Shapiro

For one of the biggest days of the year at Gulfstream Park, you knew 1/ST BET and Xpressbet would roll out something special. Not to disappoint, the marketing team has not only offered horseplayers a Money Back Offer on the Pegasus World Cup's trio of features, but also a $10,000 Exacta-Thon. Based on the popularity of past Exacta-Thon promotions, most of you know how these work, but for those who do not the goal is to connect on as many $2 exactas as possible during the 13-race card. Those who hit them on 6 different races will split $7500. The customer(s) who hit the most, split the other $2500. As always, just remember to register on the promotional landing page.

Free 1/ST Pegasus World Cup Wager Guide | Access Here

Here are a few of my favorite exacta plays on the monster card in Hallandale Beach on Saturday afternoon.

        Race 8: Fred Hooper (G3)

This year’s Fred Hooper field is led by a pair of talented lightly-raced 5YOs for Hall of Fame conditioners, but both could have their chances compromised in the early stages. #1 Life and Times enters his first start in Florida off a pair of dominant wins at Aqueduct for Todd Pletcher. The son of Justify got off to a very late start to his career, but has done nothing wrong thus far. The rail draw presents a challenge, as does all of the early speed to his outside. If he can sit just off, he will be tough, but that is a big if. #7 Knightsbridge has raced three times as much as Life and Times for Bill Mott, but also had a bumpy early start to his career. That said, he has rattled off two consecutive easy wins and has already shown an affinity for this surface. Both have talent, but I expect one of them to give way late due a brisk first half-mile. I am hopeful #5 Tour Player takes advantage of the probable race shape. The son of American Pharoah took a while to figure things out, but rattled off three straight off the pace victories in elongated sprints in 2025. Then, he sold for $350k and winds up in the Whit Beckman barn. Tour Player should get a great trip at a big price, so I will use him as a key horse with the two favorites in this one-turn mile event over the Gulfstream main track.

Play: Exacta Key Box 5 with 1+6

        Race 9: William L McKnight (G3)

Trainer Mike Maker has won the McKnight a record 5 times and has a big shot to do so once again on Saturday with #1 Zverev. Maker claimed the Oscar Performance gelding from Cherie DeVaux at Saratoga for $40k this summer. The newly turned 5YO has rattled off three consecutive victories since then over three different surfaces. He has never competed over the Gulfstream grass, but has the right pilot jumping aboard for the big day. Irad Ortiz was aboard three-back at Saratoga and will reunite with the Kentucky bred on Saturday. The inside draw is a huge edge for a horse that would be up against in this same spot if drawn to the far outside. I like his chances at 6-1 and will key him on top of a pair of logicals #3 Ohana Honor and #11 Divin Propos. Both have elite turf riders aboard and have shown an affinity for these types of long- distance turf races. Not creative, but both likely to run their races.

        Play: Exacta 1 with 3+11

Race 12: Pegasus World Cup Turf Invitational (G1)

This 9-furlong affair for a cool $1M purse goes through 5-2-ML favorite Program Trading. The 6YO was not going to win the Breeders’ Cup Mile (G1), but was also completely stopped in the lane making the race an easy toss. Prior to that, he rattled off a pair of runner-up efforts, including a three-quarter length defeat in the Turf Mile (G1) at Keeneland. He is going to be tough to beat with a move forward off the freshening and his likely trip along the inside under regular rider Flavien Prat. I will key Program Trading on top over a pair of horses that are double-digits on the morning line. The first is #4 One Stripe. The Graham Motion trainee is a bit tough to figure out because his last was against lesser with the addition of Lasix, but he kept outstanding company prior to his Gulfstream Park debut on December 26. If he runs similar on Saturday without the anti-bleeding medication, he has a big chance to be a factor late. I will use him underneath, as well as late running #12 Fort Washington. The son of War Front was not done any favors at the draw, but should be able to angle over early to save ground and come with one big run late. If the pace is contentious, it should be good enough for a minor share.

        Play: Exacta 2 with 4+12

Scott Shapiro: Pegasus Saturday All-Stakes Mandatory Payout Rainbow Pick 6 Analysis

          by Scott Shapiro

The Rainbow 6 was left unsolved by a single ticket holder on Thursday afternoon at Gulfstream Park meaning there is a chance for a huge pool tomorrow if similar occurs later today in Hallandale Beach. Heading into Friday’s 10-race slate, the carryover amount sits at over $267k and regardless of result it must go on Pegasus Day during the extremely challenging All-Stakes sequence. Full fields, high-quality racing, and big pools are just what horseplayers covet. Let’s take advantage!

Grade Descriptions: Grade A=Highest degree of confidence; Grade B=Solid Play. Grade C=Least preferred or pass; Grade X=probable winner but likely at odds too short to play.

          Race 8: Fred W. Hooper (G3)
          Grade: B-
Main Ticket: 1 Life and Times
Backups: 6 Knightsbridge; 5 Tour Player

Forecast: Lots of players will probably take the “easy” way out to kick things off by using the two favorites #1 Life and Times and #6 Knightsbridge. If you are creative elsewhere that is a fine approach if you believe they are stand outs, but overall taking a stand is the right play long term. I will take mine with lightly-raced #1 Life and Times. The Justify gelding has been awesome through 2 starts, but does have to overcome an inside draw with plenty of early zip to his outside. I am hopeful he breaks well and Jose Lezcano is able to relax him in the pocket. If so, he should be tough to beat in the lane. Knightsbridge’s resume speaks for itself, but the price horse that intrigues is #5 Tour Player. It took a while for the son of American Pharoah to figure things out, but he has found his home in these elongated dirt sprints. He could get the perfect off the pace trip under Javier Castellano.

          Race 9: William L. McKnight (G3)
          Grade: B-
          Main Ticket: 1 Zverev
Backups: 11 Divin Propos 3 Ohana Honor;2 Act a Fool

Forecast: Trainer Mike Maker has won the McKnight a record five times and has a big chance once again this year with #1 Zverev. The Oscar Performance gelding underperformed for the Cherie DeVaux barn, but has taken a step forward since Maker claimed him for $40k at Saratoga this summer. That should be no surprise since the former Lukas assistant is known for these types of improvements with horses he purchases well into their career and gets the most out of in these “marathon” type turf races. The 5YO has rattled off three consecutive wins, draws the rail, and gets Irad Ortiz Jr. I like his chances.

Race 10: Pegasus World Cup Filly & Mare Turf (G2)
          Grade: C+
Main Ticket: 10 And One More Time; 2 Heredia; 4 Breath Away; 5 Classic Q; 11 In Our Time; 8 Proctor Street; 12 Movin’ On Up
          Backups: None

Forecast: I found this year’s Pegasus World Cup Filly and Mare Turf to be as challenging as it gets where I am expecting the pace to a bit more moderate than it may appear on paper. The Ortiz brothers riding the two fastest runners means it is unlikely to be a cutthroat battle in the early stages. This could make things difficult for off the pace runners, including lukewarm 9-2-ML favorite #7 Whiskey Decision. I will leave her off and use a couple of speeds that otherwise I would toss. I landed on #10 And One More Time in the end. The daughter of Omaha Beach is lightly-raced and draws to the outside, but should be able to tuck in just off the two speeds if it plays to how it appears on paper. If she can avoid early ground loss, she has upset potential in just her sixth career start.

          Race 11: Inside Information (G2)
          Grade: B-
Main Ticket: 1 Indy Bay; 11 Grand Job
Backups: 8 Sterling Silver; 3 Jody’s Pride; 6 Beyond Belief

Forecast: I am not overly creative in this 7-furlong dash for fillies and mares over the main track where once again I think being forward could prove advantageous. #11 Grand Job is the likely pacesetter, but is hard to trust. The Justify mare battled early along the inside and tired late at Churchill Downs in a high-level allowance event when we saw her last, but has run some big races since arriving in the States. She is definitely capable of taking them gate-to-wire with her best. If not, #1 Indy Bay should be in the best position to take advantage. The Take Charge Indy filly has been given time since being eased in the Cotillion (G1) in late September. The cutback and inside post should lead to a coveted pocket trip under Irad Ortiz.

Race 12: Pegasus World Cup Turf (G1)
          Grade: B
          Main Ticket: 2 Program Trading
Backups: 12 Fort Washington; 4 One Stripe; 3 Beach Gold; 9 Chasing the Crown

Forecast: Trainer Chad Brown won this race a year ago with Spirit of St Louis and has a big chance once again with 5-2-ML favorite #2 Program Trading. The 6YO has been given time since running into a ton of trouble in the Breeders’ Cup Mile (G1). The son of Lope De Vega was not going to win that afternoon, but certainly was ready to perform a lot better than the running line suggests. Prior to that he put in a pair of strong runner-up efforts and should get a dream run along the inside under regular rider Flavien Prat. Brown had Spirit of St Louis ready for his best in this race in 2025 and appears to have this Klaravich Stables ridgling prepared for similar at 4:54 PM local time on Saturday.

Race 13: Pegasus World Cup (G1)
          Grade: B-
Main Ticket: 7 Tappan Street; 1 Disco Time
          Backups: 4 Banishing

Forecast: Trainer Brad Cox won this race in 2021 with Knicks Go and holds a strong hand five years later with #1 Disco Time and #7 Tappan Street. Disco Time comes into the race off a pair of dominant efforts against lesser and is likely to take a lot of public support given his 5 for 5-record, but do not underestimate 2025 Florida Derby (G1) winner #7 Tappan Street just because his return race was on the slow side. There is no way he was close to cranked and the fact it was at one-turn also likely played into the workmanlike performance. If they go quick early, Luis Saez should be in the perfect spot to take advantage on the far turn. I will use most of my budget leaning on the Cox duo, but have come around to #4 Banishing as the week has gone along. He has kept great company, gets a highly capable rider, and is likely to get overlooked on the tote board.

            #6
Gulfstream Park FULLCARD Hotlist - January 24

By Bob Ehalt and Matt Shifman

            Hot List Key:
            A:
A preferred horse to watch B: Secondary horse to watch
*C: Went down 2 or more betting notches and finished 1st through 3rd
*D: Went down 2 or more betting notches and finished 4th or worst
            * - 4 or more betting notches if 11-1 or more.

1st race – (10) Siyouni Flash gets back on turf and should turn in a big effort. (4) Maggie Go has been racing in graded turf stakes and figures to be formidable here. (12) Jalila gets a nice jockey switch to Irad. (9) Pretty Lavish fits in nicely with this group.

2nd race – (3) Benficence looks like a promising firster from Pletcher. (2) Swing Vote was a good third in her debut and should be the one to fear. (5) Paradise Street belongs in the exotics. (8) Exquisite could be a threat in her first start.

3rd race - (2) Battle of Normandy is classy but hasn’t raced in a year. If there’s no rust, he’ll be tough to beat. (3) Risk Tolerance comes off a sharp win at Tampa. (1) Belouni will appreciate the shorter distance here. (4) Walley World should be closing quickly at the end.

4th race – (2) Miss Mary Nell was an easy winner in her last try on Tapeta. Gets the nod here. (3) Fantastic Flame looked great in her first start on Tapeta. (5) Leo Toro will welcome a return to Tapeta. (6) Growth Trajectory may like Tapeta.

5th race – The Christophe Clement Stakes (G3) – (5) Fionn is a Grade 1 winner who should thrive at this distance. (4) No Show Sammy Jo seems a natural for this distance. (2) Alluring Angel could rebound with a better effort. (1) Speed Shopper will benefit from a rail trip.

6th race – (4) Jokestar ships in from Canada and seems primed for a top effort. (6) Horsepower looks like the main rival. (11) Classic Mo Town will be helped by a fast pace. (12) He’s Not Joking should be taken seriously here.

7th race - (11) – Coppola has plenty of speed and could lead throughout. (10) My Boy Prince makes a favorable turnback in distance and has been working sharply for this. (2) Khaadem should be closing fast in the final furlong. (12) Asher’s Edge should be helped by adding Irad.

8th race – The Fred Hooper Stakes (G3) - (6) Knightsbridge is in career-best form and looks like the one to beat. (1) Life and Times won his two starts easily. Will get tested for class here. (9) Nelson Avenue cannot be ignored in this spot. (2) Steal Sunshine can sneak into the picture at the end.

9th race – The William L. McKnight Stakes (G3) - (1) Zverev gets back on turf and should benefit from a rail trip. (3) Ohana Honor has the credentials to be a main threat. (12) Hammerhead gets back on turf and is worth a long look. (6) Missed the Cut is in good form and can turn in a solid try.

10th race – The Pegasus World Cup Filly and Mare Turf (G2) - (11) In Our Time has a lot of speed and could be tough to catch here. (9) Crevalle d’Oro has a nice ;late kick and will be a top contender. (12) Movin’ On Up missed by a neck in a stakes here and merits consideration. (2) Heredia has been running in Grade 1 stakes and can make her presence felt.

11th race – The Inside Information Stakes (G2) - (1) Indy Bay has been working quickly and gets top billing here. (8) Sterling Silver seeks a third straight win and should not be discounted. (10) One Magic Philly can bounce back with a better performance here. (12) Verity was second in her comeback race and can take a step forward here.

12th race – The Pegasus World Cup Turf (G1) - (2) Program Trading had a rough trip in the Breeders’ Cup but can make amends here. (8) Cabo Spirit has sharp early speed and seems like the one to reel in. (10) Cugino is razor sharp and cannot be ignored. (4) One Stripe is capable of being in the picture

13th race – The Pegasus World (G1) - (1) Disco Time speed and the rail on a speed-favoring track. Can control the pace and the race. (11) WhIte Abarrio loves this track but drew a rough post. (7) Tappan Street looked good in his comeback race and should be a force here. (6) Madaket Road ships in for Baffert and deserves respect.

Keeneland Select Pick of the Day | January 24, 2026

Race 12 at Gulfstream Park | Saturday, January 24 | Post Time 4:54 PM Eastern

Pegasus World Cup Turf Invitational – Grade 1 | Purse $1 Million | One Mile and One-Eighth | Four Year Olds and Upward

Top win contenders are Call Sign Seven (6), Program Trading (2), Cabo Spirit (8)

Other contenders are One Stripe (4), Fort Washington (12)

              Analysis and Contenders:

Call Sign Seven (6) just won the Grade 2 Seabiscuit Handicap in November 2025 at 68 to one odds, his first stakes win. His only other stakes resulted in a sixth place finish in the Grade 2 Mathis Mile Stakes in November 2024, which was his third career race and off a maiden win, quite a big class raise. He ran one race after the Mathis and finished seventh, then he took nearly eight months off. Coming back, he won the Seabiscuit where he started seventh and was still seventh until the eighth pole, when he surged 110 yards at the sixteenth to a head behind the winner, who then edged for winning by half a length. The Seabiscuit earned Call Sign Seven a 114 Equibase Speed Figure, which is among the last top figures in the field. Despite his powerful effort and his speed figure, Call Sign Seven opens at 15 to 1. In this, his second start off a nearly nine-month layoff, he is able to run even faster.

Program Trading (2) has won five races with three seconds in over 10 races. However, I only looked at nine because I did not consider his last race, the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Mile (in November), since he had no chance due to being blocked and then stumbling at the eighth mile pole, which at that point had no shot. His races in 2025 include a second, off a 16-month layoff, and another second place finish in the Grade 1 Turf Mile at Keeneland in October, where he earned a career-best 118 Equibase Speed Figure. In 2024, he won the Turf Classic Stakes in May and captured the Grade 1 Hollywood Derby in December. Overall, he has three wins and a second in four races after a layoff, and now he is also off a layoff, although a shorter one, so Program Trading has a big shot to win or place second.

The rest of the field will have to beat Cabo Spirit (8) to the start. He won the Grade 3 San Gabriel Stakes on December 26, where he earned a career-best 116 figure. He also nearly won the Grade 1 Shoemaker Stakes in May, stalking in second and missing third by a nose and neck at the finish. Smith rides today and rode Cabo Spirit in the San Gabriel and won the Grade 3 American Stakes in April. He should get an easy lead and could be a tough customer to win his second straight stakes.

One Stripe (4) won his last race, a classified allowance at Gulfstream Park; he was in to get him familiar with the track. He won seven of nine races in South Africa, including the tough Group 1 Cape Guineas Stakes in December 2024. His two U.S. races were in last year’s Grade 1 Woodbine Mile and the Breeders’ Cup Mile, where he finished fifth and 13th. However, his win in the recent race was a good one, and his jockey, Gavin Lerena, has more than 2,600 wins. Based on One Stripe being in good form, he can pull off an upset and be in the top three.

Fort Washington (12) won three out of six races last year. His best race was the Grade 1 Arlington Million in August, where he earned a career-best 118 figure. He also won the Grade 3 Dinner Party Stakes in May, earning a 116 figure. When he is at his best, Fort Washington has a good shot to be a contender.

              Bets:

Since Program Trading (2) is the favorite (at 5 to 2), I feel the other two offer value for win bets - Call Sign Seven (6), Cabo Spirit (8) at fair odds of 5 and 2 or better.

              Exactas:

Call Sign Seven (6), Program Trading (2), Cabo Spirit (8) over Call Sign Seven (6), Program Trading (2), Cabo Spirit (8), One Stripe (4), Fort Washington (12)

One Stripe (4), Fort Washington (12), Call Sign Seven (6), Program Trading (2), Cabo Spirit (8) over Call Sign Seven (6), Program Trading (2), Cabo Spirit (8)

By placing both wagers, if Call Sign Seven (6), Program Trading (2), and Cabo Spirit (8) finish first and second among the three of them, we win twice.

COMMENTS: FIONN has shown electrifying late speed at times while winning seven of ten turf races. GALLANT GRETA hit the board in nine of nine races on turf and ran a little quicker fractions last out. NO SHOW SAMMY JO recorded the highest last race speed figure that was four points higher than the next. SPEED SHOPPER should be coming with the most energy at the end and should not give up too much ground early versus these.

COMMENTS: UNCONQUERABLE KEEN should get an excellent trip according to Smart Sheets analysis. LITIGATION is a horse for short turf sprints winning three of five with a second. COPPOLA would be graded higher with an early tempo edge but the outside post hurts. MY BOY PRINCE is another with more than enough ability to win her but will be challenged by the outside draw.

COMMENTS: KNIGHTSBRIDGE has four dominating wins out of six races. His recent bullet works suggests we may see another here. LIFE AND TIMES could be sitting on a big pop in just his third career races after minor regression in the second start. TOUR PLAYER is absolutely in peak form and should sit right off the pace and close to the wire. BACK EM UP makes his first try at a route but do not be fooled as it is still just one turn.

COMMENTS: LAYABOUT is a price that is the top value according to Smart Sheets and could be involved from start to finish. OHANA HONOR has some of the best late speed in the field and can flash some early run too. OFFLEE NAUGHTY has the most turf back class and enough works to be fit for an interesting race to return after more than a year off. ZVEREV has an excellent chance to get a great set up for his running style.

COMMENTS: You can make a case for just about every horse in this race. PROCTOR STREET gets the first call as she has won all three races with Tyler Gaffalione as her pilot. WHISKEY DECISION has the flexibility to win from close up or from the back which could be handy here. CAITLINHERGRTNESS is probably the steadiest performer in the race and has tremendous late speed at times. AND ONE MORE TIME has not run a bad race since her debut and is poised to run her career best today.

COMMENTS: INDY BAY might be a heavy favorite minus a weird race at Parx in her last. Otherwise she hit the board in all her other races. ONE MAGIC PHILLY has triple digit speed figure ability and just rolls from the middle out at times. STERLING SILVER won two in a row and has a decent chance of being as good or maybe a little better in the second up. GRAND JOB has been the betting favorite in five straight races with a pair of wins.

COMMENTS: CUGINO had better pace and fractions last out and should add to it in the second off the sidelines. PROGRAM TRADING could be the class of the race and has run well after some rest but has not won since returning from an extended break. TEST SCORE has not had many clean races but still managed to run nine quality starts in the last ten outings. CHASING THE CROWN makes the classic third start after a layoff with a pair of maintenance works between races.

COMMENTS: WHITE ABARRIO hit triple digit speed figures in four of his last five starts and the winner here will need to a race at or above that milestone number. DISCO TIME is undefeated in five and you just do not know how good a horse is until it loses. TAPPAN STREET could have the most untapped potential in just his fifth start and popped in his career best in his only other second up outing. MIKA went two turns on the dirt once and won by fourteen against lighter company.

SO THERE SHE WAS got off to a slow start and should do better a little today. NAFISA won two in a row going towards the front and should be there today too. OOTY ran the highest last race speed figure despite getting off to a slow start.

                            #4 SOCIAL CHIC (ML=2/1)

SOCIAL CHIC - Farrior has an 'uncoupled' entry here. Best to beware of the longer priced half. The jock and trainer combination here have a high win percentage when they join forces. This gelding is in good physical condition, having run a good race on January 3rd, finishing third.

                            Vulnerable Contenders: #3 BROTHER CONWAY (ML=6/5), #1 YANKEE DOODLE KID (ML=9/2), #6 MACRON (ML=5/1),

BROTHER CONWAY - Tough to put your cash on this oft beaten public's choice. Not much value. YANKEE DOODLE KID - Run-of-the-mill speed rating last time out at Charles Town at 7 furlongs. Don't think this mount will improve too much in today's race. MACRON - This entrant ran a most unsatisfactory fig last time around the track. He shouldn't run better and will probably get beat in today's event running that number.

                              # 8 SUNDAY TIFF 10/1
                              # 9 WIDERTHANAMILE 5/1
BLUE FASHION has a solid shot to take this race. Could provide positive gains based on solid recent speed figures with an average of 75. Has a strong shot for this race if you like back class. With a sound 73 average Equibase Speed Figure at the distance, seems well suited for today's race. SUNDAY TIFF - Could best this field based on the Equibase speed fig - 72 - of her last effort. Seems to have a decent class edge based on the latest company kept. WIDERTHANAMILE - Must be given consideration - I like the figs from the last contest.
