Turfway Park - Race #5

#6 Melody Maker	She has been finishing with a little bit of enthusiasm in the turf races, and I wonder if she might like the local footing while racing fresh. May not have seen her best yet.
#4 Miss Milky Way	Think she's dangerous here after a couple of nice runner-up efforts, and she has the tactical pace to get another first-jump run. One of the ones.
#8 Flower River	She finished well going short in the debut and will try to transfer that run around two turns, but the price gets a lot shorter this time around. Could see it.
Race Summary	Think you can make a case for a few of them in here, and Melody Maker has honest enough form to think that she's competitive with any slight move forward over the new footing.

Turfway Park - Race #6

#9 I Lucked Out	Price won't be much, but it's tough for me to argue with his recent form, and he turned in a little maintenance work since the last romp. Think he handles these.
#8 Faster	Wouldn't argue too hard with anyone landing here while bringing a couple of really nice local wins in the last couple starts, but I think she has at least a little bit of proving to do on class today.
#6 Gucci Man	He should be in line for another great trip while tracking the splits, and he's bringing a similar kind of class-rising profile as Faster.
Race Summary	I Lucked Out has dangerous pace and a trio of easy wins from as many tries on his page this season. Guessing he handles these if he comes close to holding form.

Turfway Park - Race #10

#4 T' ray	Get a look at him on the tote and track ahead of this, but I'm not sure there's anyone to really be afraid of in this spot, so it wouldn't be any shock to see a fresh face make some noise.
#12 My Milestone	Think something like the last one will fit well while cutting the tag in half, and a bit better break today might leave him in a decent spot to spy the speed from out here.
#5 Gotta Jet	He has to prove he's a good fit at this local level, but he at least has a little bit of OK form on the page from those first two starts. Wouldn't surprise.
Race Summary	Think My Milestone is the clear one from those with experience, but I'm still not totally convinced about any of them in here, so I'll try a rookie at an OK price.

Race Summary	LIST rode the rail and finished with good energy in her 5-1/2F debut and galloped out well despite finishing out of the money. Her dam was a second-out Maiden Special Weight winner going a route of ground. Like her chances in this field, so bet to win and place and play 1-7 and 1-8 daily doubles.

Gulfstream Park - Race #8

#8 MIA FAMILIA (9-2)	Pair of thirds on lawn to start career, projects ideal stalking trip in here.
#10 PARADISE STREET (5-1)	Second in 6F ‘photos’ in quality fields; lots of turf pedigree on dam’s side.
#9 EAST JABIP (7-2)	High-percentage sire with turf firsters, work tab started with :34.4-/5 bullet.
Race Summary	MIA FAMILIA finished third from posts 10 and 11 to start her career. She met a well-meant first-time starter in her debut who came back to win a $75,000 optional claimer at odds-on, then she rallied to lead at the stretch call in a slow-paced 7-1/2F turf race last out. Bet to win and place and play and 8-9-10 exacta box.

Gulfstream Park - Race #9

#3 WINPLACEANDSHOW (4-1)	Eye-popping sweep on the turn was offset by erratic behavior.
#6 SAMARATIN’S JOY (6-1)	Lone two-time winner awakened with Lasix, gets pace to rally into.
#2 SWEET EMBER (2-1)	Blazed to 81 Beyer in maiden victory, has to carry her speed farther.
Race Summary	WINPLACEANDSHOW, a dominant, second-out maiden breaker at 6-1/2F, had an eventful follow-up at 7F. She spotted the field several lengths at the break, lugged out from the rail on the backstretch and lugged out again after she swept past the field and 4-to-5 winner on the turn. She flattened out in the stretch, but if she minds her manners and makes the same move on the cutback to 6F, look out. Bet to win and place and play a 3-ALL exacta.

2^nd race [Clm 30000B, 6F] – (1) Free Dance (D) was third in the early going after getting bet down from 12-1 to 8-1, finished fourth, and comes back from a three-month layoff. (4) Golden Plate will cut back from four tries at a mile where was a winner in October at Aqueduct in his first race for Linda Rice. Recent speed figures top this field. (6) Platform ships up from Laurel Park where was a winner for a $40,000 tag two races back and tried an allowance last time. (5) Typhoon Fury moved from turf to dirt and finished fourth last time in a $50,000 claimer.

4^th race [Md 50000, 1 mi] – (4) Gulfywas second last time in a $75,000 claimer which was the first time he ran for a tag. (1) First Blessing gets first-time Lasix after a pair of thirds in the $75,000 maiden races. (3) Ima Big Bad Wolf will drop in for a tag for the first time for Brad Cox which is a 23% move. (4) Crowbar Artist will make her debut for Rick Dutrow with a series of workouts at Belmont Park showing.

5^th race [Clm 10000, 6F] – (7) Miss Lao (C) hit the board in her last three starts at this level and was bet down from 11-1 to 6-1. (3) Maggie T was a front-end winner at this lowest claiming level. (6) Jackie the Jokerwon a starter allowance in January with a stalking trip and then was sixth after showing speed. (4) My First Love was claimed for $12,500 when she was third and then tried for $16,000 which was too tough.

6^th race [Alw 50000s, 5 ? F] – (1) Thirteen G’s (A) stumbled badly at the start and lost all chance when the rider lost his irons. (3) Shoot the Nickel was claimed from a win for $12,500 and was stepped up to run third in a starter allowance and then miss by a nose in another. (4) Social Hour used speed to run second and fourth in a pair of starter allowances and was a winner for $40,000 in December. (2) Spirit Dragon was claimed from his last three starts for $30,000 where he won twice and was second once.

Best bets: Free Dance (2^nd); Gulfy (4^th). Best value: Miss Lao (5^th); Thirteen G’s (6^th).

1st race – (1) List had a useful debut in a sprint. Should enjoy the stretchout to two turns. (4) Hope Diamond is 0-for-9 and may not like the added ground. (8) It’s Just a Game is 0-for-11 but has been third four times. (5) Starlight Luna could pose a late threat. Betting strategy: 1 to win, place. Exacta box: 1-4-5-8.

3rd race – (1) Beautiful Crazy takes a big class drop and seems best here. (7) Maerdama could be tough to catch in this field. (2) Stubold belongs in the exotics. (4) Slender Slipper might wake up for Sweezey. Betting strategy: 1 to win, place. Exacta box: 1-2-4-7.

5th race – (4) Two Beers by Ten was second in a photo finish the last two times. Seems overdue for a win. (9) Replevin has speed and looks like the one to fear. (11) War Officer fits in with this group but has a tough post. (1) The Brigade will be helped by a rail trip. Betting strategy: 4 to win, place. Exacta box: 1-4-9-11. Doubles: 1-4-9-11 with 4-5-6.

6th race – (4) Step Slow was second the last time he raced at this level. (6) Skyrush should be better suited by turf. (5) Commendatore drops in search of a winning level. Betting strategy: 7 to win, place. Exacta box: 4-5-6.

9th race – (7) Drama was an easy winner in her last start on dirt. (1) Muffin Music should welcome a switch to dirt. (2) Sweet Ember was a sharp winner on Tapeta but has nice dirt breeding. (4) Jestina cannot be ignored in this field. Betting strategy: 7 to win, place. Exacta box: 1-2-4-7.

MIDNIGHT MAJESTY - I really like sprinters that make a fast turnaround. Racing at a similar level as last race on February 15th at Oaklawn Park. I think Hewitt has found a good spot for him, and I like his chances in this race. Sub-par effort last time around the track at Oaklawn Park was due to the off-going (he ended up ninth). Will do better in this event on a non-sloppy track. LIGHTNING STRUCK - This gelding should give a strong account of himself in today's event.

Vulnerable Contenders: #6 BOAT SONG (ML=5/2), #1 KUNSHAN BRIDGE (ML=3/1), #5 UNLOAD (ML=7/2),

BOAT SONG - This gelding finished out of the top three on September 14th and wasn't close to winning last time around the track either. VERI COLLECTED - Tough for this closer equine to get up today. Without a hot pace to stir things up, the lone early speed is going to make it awfully hard to get the job done. Finished fifth in her most recent effort with a quite unimpressive rating. When I look at today's class figure, it would take an improved performance to score after that in this field. QUOTIENT - 4/1 odds isn't enough for this participant when looking at the most recent showings. SPERRY CHALET - 5/1 is not offering enough value for any entrant in a sprint of 6 1/2 furlongs that hasn't hit the board in a short distance race recently. 5/1 is just too low of a reward to take on most any racer that has run poorly in back to back races around the track.
