Jeremy Plonk: Parx Bet $100, Get $10 Picks | Tuesday, March 17, 2026

    by Jeremy Plonk

The “Lucky Strides” promotion this March at 1/ST BET and Xpressbet offers a $10 bonus when you bet $100 or more at select tracks each Tuesday and Thursday. Parx will be the track spotlighted for this Tuesday. Here’s how I’ll approach that card with the help of the Betmix Angler database.

    Parx: Race 4

#2 Fuhgeddaboudit (4-1 morning line odds) makes a notable jockey change to Ruben Silvera. Note that 17% trainer Elliott Soto-Martinez is 8-for-12 (67%) at Parx when teaming with Silvera – and the rider comes off a 3-win Monday with just 4 mounts on this card. Mare has had slow breaks in her last 4 starts and if the new pilot gets her away quicker, look out. Win bet #2.

    Parx: Race 6

#8 Capital Conquest (8-1 morning line odds) goes for that same lethal Ruben Silvera / Elliott Soto-Martinez jockey-trainer combo that’s 8-for-12 at Parx since the start of 2025. Makes a jockey change from previous starts and it’s the second start after a claim for the new barn. Certainly looks more effective on a fast track than wet, so eye the conditions to measure confidence, but I’d take a shot on any surface given their tandem success. Win-place bet #8.

          Turf Paradise - Race #5 - Post: 3:12pm - Claiming - 8.0 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $11,500 Class Rating: 78

          Rating:

          #3 INXPRESS (ML=4/1)
          #2 MRAZEK'S OLD DREAM (ML=5/2)
          #8 CANTPUTAPRICEONFUN (ML=10/1)

INXPRESS - This filly is in good physical condition, having run a nice race on March 2nd, finishing third. MRAZEK'S OLD DREAM - After the race aboard this horse on March 3rd, the jockey is going to be in tune with the filly much better. Have to give this filly a chance. Ran a sharp race in the last race within the last month or so. Last time around the track was at Turf Paradise in a race with a class rating of 83. Dropping considerably in class figure this time out puts her in a solid position in today's race. This animal has increased her speed ratings from a fig of 57 to 68 to 77 in succession. CANTPUTAPRICEONFUN - Looks like the lone speed of the race. Should be tough on the front-end. Faced tougher last time around the track at Turf Paradise. Based on Equibase class ratings, this is a weaker field, so I will put this horse on my list of contenders.

          Vulnerable Contenders: #7 BIG A'S LITTLE ONE (ML=7/2), #4 KINKY MOON (ML=5/1), #6 BARBIES FURY (ML=6/1),

BIG A'S LITTLE ONE - 7/2 is too short of a price to take on most any mount that has run poorly in back to back efforts. KINKY MOON - This mount will probably need at least one more start after the lackluster showing following the extended vacation. BARBIES FURY - It's a big jump to win in a Maiden Claiming event and then step up and beat winners.
STRAIGHT WAGERS: Go with #3 INXPRESS on top if we're getting at least 7/2 odds
          EXACTA WAGERS: Box [2,3,8]

            Race 2 - Claiming - 6.0f on the Dirt. Purse: $28000 Class Rating: 95

FOR FOUR YEAR OLDS AND UPWARD. WEIGHT, 125 LBS. NON-WINNERS OF A RACE SINCE MARCH 17 ALLOWED 3 LBS. CLAIMING PRICE $16,000, FOR EACH $2,000 TO $12,000 2 LBS.
            RECOMMENDED CHOICES
            # 3 EASY ACTION 2/1
            # 7 MAC DADDY TOO 4/1
            # 4 NANCY MADE MY DAY 6/1
I've got to go with EASY ACTION. Is difficult not to examine based on Equibase Speed Figures which have been very good - 89 avg - of late. Has respectable front speed and will almost certainly fare solidly versus this field. The speed rating of 92 from his latest affair looks formidable in here. MAC DADDY TOO - This racer has some longshot handicapping angles going for him. Has quite good speed figures and has to be considered for a wager in this race. NANCY MADE MY DAY - Ought to come out solid - I have liked the way this gelding has moved speedily to the front end recently.

              # 4 GUIDE MY STEPS 8/1
              # 1 GI GIS MAP 5/2
SING A HAPPY SONG is my choice. Her 84 average has this mare with among the best speed figures in this event. Will almost certainly compete solidly in the early pace contest which bodes well with this group of horses. Is a contender - given the 83 speed rating from her most recent race. GUIDE MY STEPS - Trainers don't bring racers back this quickly just for fun. GI GIS MAP - Looks very good against this group of animals and should be one of the leaders. Could best this field based on the speed figure - 89 - of her last effort.

                Parx Racing - Race #3 - Post: 1:34pm - Maiden Claiming - 6.5 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $32,000 Class Rating: 64

                Rating:

#5 KING OF THE CROSS (ML=5/1)

KING OF THE CROSS - A wise man taught me to wager on the lone speed horse. Take a look at this horse. Trainer Rodriguez moves this thoroughbred to a lower class level to face much lower class horses. Look for a sharp performance given the class advantage. This entrant ran out of the money at Parx Racing in the last race on a muddy track. He should improve in this race without the off-track conditions. The improved Equibase speed figures over the last 3 races is strong. Rodriguez drops him in this event in shape and ready to win.

                Vulnerable Contenders: #2 NOMOWINEFORYOU (ML=2/1), #6 DISCO RHODES (ML=5/2), #1 BUFF GARY (ML=4/1),

NOMOWINEFORYOU - This gelding hasn't had any positive outcomes in sprint races in the last sixty days. DISCO RHODES - Doesn't appear to be worth 5/2 this time out. Pass on him this time. BUFF GARY - 4/1 is not worth it for any thoroughbred in a sprint of 6 1/2 furlongs that hasn't hit the board in a sprint event of late. Common speed rating last out at Parx Racing at 6 furlongs. Don't believe this pony will improve too much in today's event.
STRAIGHT WAGERS: Go with #5 KING OF THE CROSS on top if we're getting at least 1/1 odds
                EXACTA WAGERS: 5 with [4,6]

More wins than is normal have been achieved by contenders lining up behind the 4 post at Pocono Downs.VANNA BY THE RIVER - Worth considering for this race if only for the great TrackMaster Speed Rating achieved in the last race. SEA BLAZE - More wins than normal have been recorded by fine animals lining up behind the 5 slot at Pocono Downs. Could very well be the top in the race here, showing really strong numbers of late. Avg speed is a solid 79.

The pick in this contest is PHANTOM TOM. This gelding getting the victory wouldn't be impossible, a chance. The number crunching team knows that speed is very important in harness racing. This standardbred will unlock our way to a nice score. Top notch win statistic combined with recent good performances. We think he can handle this group. REEL EM IN - The handicapping team knows that speed is King in harness racing. This harness racer will unlock our way to a nice victory. The 82 average class statistic may give this gelding a distinct edge in the field. COMMUNION MONEY - Post 1 has been winning at a better than expected percentage, suggesting very good probability of success in this event. It's a bit chancy to consider solely based on class, but this mare has among the most solid class statistics of the group of animals.

#4 Prince Rama He's another stepping up in class here, but he does so off a really sharp score with cheaper, and he should also find a decent spot tracking the pace.
#1 That's Something Think his better stuff fits OK here, but I worry about the trip he's going to get from down here with some potential pace lined up outside.
Race Summary Shadowless might get a nice run of things while sitting a perfect press, and he may be an OK price for the new connections.
Will Rogers Downs - Race #8
#6 Yougotthisjr He has a few lengths to turn on the next guy, but I think he's going to get a get trip forcing the issue from out here, and the price is sure to be solid.
#2 Washita Valley He can be tough here, but he's likely to take some cash and also has settled underneath in a lot of the races on his page. Capable, but he doesn't have to win this.
#4 Big Kitty He's a good fit right back after the solid run last time out, but he figures to take some cash again in a race that feels competitive. Same scenario as the one listed just above him -- no surprises if he lands it, but I'll try to beat him.
Race Summary Yougotthisjr is not close to the most likely winner in here -- and the price will reflect that -- but I think he might get the run of the race from the outside, and that might allow him to outrun his odds.
Will Rogers Downs - Race #9
#8 Sandthefloor Nothing but a couple of speed-and-fade runs on the page so far, but he's back fresh for his local debut while getting Lasix for the first time, and he draws outside of the other proven forward players. Could see him taking a little cash -- could also see him running these off.
#1 Get Dreamy On form, he's a big danger here with tactical pace and some reliable running lines, but he's also short on excuses at this point and might be vulnerable to getting outkicked again late.
#2 Cool Okie Tactical speed might be one of the obvious ones in here after improving in the second career start -- think any more reasonable upside today would make him a handful.
Race Summary Sandthefloor has room to come forward today while making his first start of the season and racing with Lasix for the first time, and I don't think there is anyone you're supposed to be afraid of in here.

                            Parx - Race #1
#3 FAZARO (6-1) Has speed and can use it well as the lightweight in a field that is 2-for-28 at 6-1/2F.
#2 BOURBON AFICIONADO (5-1) Improved second for new barn but winner was 3-for-47 going in.
#6 CISCO KID (3-1) Useful seasonal debut at this level, likes Parx, has pair of 77 Beyers at distance.
Race Summary FAZARO disappeared in his first try under these conditions, but he can’t be discounted off his prior two starts. He ran second to 2-1 winner Soar Richard at 6F, then romped at 5-1/2F with the top speed figure of his career. He could take some catching and is worth a win and place bet at a tempting price.
                            Parx - Race #3
#2 NOMOWINEFORYOU (2-1) Good try with blinks versus multiple stakes victor, good work for return.
#6 DISCO RHODES (5-2) Reid-trained firster stepped it up a notch for recent :47-4/5 gate move.
#1 BUFF GARY (4-1) Got Lasix, bid 4-wide on turn, stopped in stretch on muddy track in MSW ranks.
Race Summary NOMOWINEFORYOU starts fresh off a one-minute 5F workout in his first start for a claiming price. He was last seen in October, racing close-up and holding third in a one-mile race won by Mailata, who came back to win the Parx Nursery and Future Stars stakes races. Bet to win and place and play 2-1 and 2-6 exactas.
                            Parx - Race #6
#6 AUTHENTIC KINGDOM (9-2) Consistent, versatile, profitable claim, wheels back on short rest.
#1 ADIOS JERSEY (3-1) Beat 14 rivals total in three wire-to-wire romps, tries long sprint for second time.
#8 CAPITAL CONQUEST (8-1) Hit board in 8 of 11 at this distance, good for nearly $100k in earnings.
Race Summary AUTHENTIC KINGDOM is 8/3-2-1 at various distances since he was claimed for $10,000 in September. He returns on a shorter rest than usual but gets an ideal pace to launch another contending rally. Bet to win and place and play 6-1, 6-8 and 1-6 exactas.
