    BRIAN W. SPENCER'S DAILY PICKS

Will Rogers Downs - Race #3
#1 Twisted Steel He at least showed he stacked up well at this level with the good sprint run last time out, and that effort suggests he's right up top on the move around two turns, and he's probably the one to catch turning for home if he can put away the other pace.
#4 Empire Ranch He's probably supposed to be the right one in here while bringing form against much tougher at Oaklawn and Churchill, but I don't love the way his form has been sliding since the OK September run at the $50,000 level. Circuit class might prevail, but you can have him.
#5 Lil Slappy Stretchout player only showed a little mild late interest in the sprint debut, but there is probably some reasonable upside with that race out of the way, and the pedigree says a mile is in his scope.
Race Summary Twisted Steel should have a go for it from the fence, and I'm hoping he'll find something more in the tank while going long against this soft kind of crew -- his previous route runs admittedly weren't too pretty late.
Will Rogers Downs - Race #4
#5 Beau Day Think he's a handful here with some committed pace in a race without a ton of other competition for the top, and he just handled the runner who appears to be one of his biggest dangers today.
#3 Knicks Story He ran a good one on the hike for the new team last time out when finishing behind the top choice, but something similar keeps him in the picture again today. Wouldn't blame you for landing here.
#2 Bobwhite Bobby He has some pretty honest finishing form and wasn't embarrassed in a couple of starter spots in the past, but I worry he's going to take a lot of cash off the score last time out and may not be a real standout here. In the mix.
Race Summary Beau Day and Knicks Story get a chance to battle again after the former easily held sway up top last time out, and I think we are likely to see a similar run of things today.
Will Rogers Downs - Race #9
#11 Reason to Believe Hear me out. The form is pretty dreadful, but this race is full of about seven or eight forward players who all want to the same kind of tracking/pressing trip, and that can lead to an occasional pace battle and/or early middle moves as everyone sorts things out. That sent me looking for an absolute clunk-up closer who could accidentally get the last laugh, and I wonder if it's this guy at a big price.
#10 Mighty Message He has some front-end pace that a handful of his other forward fellows lack, so there's a chance he catches a good break and never lets this crew hang with him.
#9 Mcmusic He's got honest form and seems likely enough to stick around after tracking the pace, and he has already finished in front of a handful of today's threats in recent tries.
Race Summary Reason to Believe is a big reach, but I think a race with this kind of shape either becomes a boring merry-go-round or a slightly chaotic affair into and on the turn while the tiring tracking types try to keep up -- if it's the latter, it could come apart late, and maybe this guy can plug along to pick them up.

      FRANK CARULLI'S DAILY PICKS

      Parx - Race #2
#1 CALISA (9-2) Returns to winning distance, been keeping good company, draws inside off wide trip.
#2 VANAKA (5-1) Can stalk and pounce for barn on 5-for-19 run with similar layoff types.
#4 WINE AND ROSES (9-5) Starts fresh with new rider, seeks duplicate of race two starts ago.
Race Summary CALISA broke her maiden at 6-1/2F to become one of two entrants to win at this distance. She hasn’t won in five starts since then, but she met two odds-on favorites, three other winners at 3-to-1 or less and rivals who are a combined 32/5-8-8 since then. Bet to win and place and play 1-2, 1-4 and 2-1 exactas.
      Parx - Race #5
#4 BREEZETHRUTIME (5-2) One to beat despite record, should sit ideal trip on class drop.
#1 FIVE NINE FIFTY (3-1) Speed and rail, hit board in 4 of last 6 but was well-beaten in route.
#7 ELEANOR RIGBY (8-1) Third at distance, outrun in nw/3 route, took money but had no fire in latest.
Race Summary BREEZETHRUTIME, second in her last two route attempts at one mile, figures tough on the class drop despite an 0-for-8 record at Parx. She met a 3-to-5 winner three back and was slowed considerably by the pace two back, which shouldn’t be a problem today. Bet to win and place and play 4-1 and 4-7 exactas.
      Parx - Race #9
#7 AMERICAN PEACHES (4-1) Showed enough in latest to end looooong winless drought.
#6 TO BE LOVED BY YOU (5-1) Dueled into lane, held second despite drifting late in improved effort.
#4 NOHAI (9-2) Swept past the field on the turn in slow-paced maiden win at 6F.
Race Summary AMERICAN PEACHES raced far back in a six-horse field for her new connections and got up for third behind the two favorites. The extra half-furlong should help as she tries to win for the first time in 24 starts since a debut victory. Bet to win and place and play a 4-6-7 exacta box.

            Race 4 - SA - 5.5f on the Dirt. Purse: $16000 Class Rating: 90

FOR FOUR YEAR OLDS AND UPWARD WHICH HAVE STARTED FOR A CLAIMING PRICE OF $7,500 OR LESS IN 2024 - 2026. WEIGHT, 125 LBS.
            RECOMMENDED CHOICES
            # 2 BOBWHITE BOBBY 2/1
            # 3 KNICKS STORY 7/2
            # 1 BEN DIESEL 12/1
BOBWHITE BOBBY is the most competitive wager in this race. Wethey has been scorching the last month, winning at a nifty 19 percent rate. Could beat this field given the 78 Equibase speed fig recorded in his last outing. Is difficult not to look at based on speed figs which have been solid - 73 avg - of late. KNICKS STORY - Should keep the good string of finishing positions intact this time around. Ran a strong last race. BEN DIESEL - Is difficult not to consider given the company run in as of late. Earnings per start in dirt sprint races is reliable for this equine.

Mahoning Valley Race Course - Race #7 - Post: 3:03pm - Allowance -8.0 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $25,900 Class Rating: 72

              Rating:

              #4 COWGIRL CHIC (ML=5/2)
              #1 THE MONEY MONKEY (ML=7/2)

COWGIRL CHIC - Oliveros is up for another contest today after racing atop this animal for the first ride on Feb 16th and ought to know the ropes to this one a little better. Another way to judge class is earnings per race entered. This horse has the highest in the group. I think she'll be close at the end. THE MONEY MONKEY - Always watch out for the longer priced animal when a trainer has an 'uncoupled' entry in a race. I like this mare a lot here. She shows a lot of consistency, finishing in the money frequently. This horse ran off the board at Mahoning Valley Race Cour last time out on a muddy track. She should improve in this race on a non-sloppy track.

Vulnerable Contenders: #6 PRIVATE MO (ML=2/1), #5 TALE OF LEMONBELLE (ML=4/1),

PRIVATE MO - The probable favorite is vulnerable here with the lack of morning drills. TALE OF LEMONBELLE - Last rating of 60 may not be legitimate since it was in the slop.
STRAIGHT WAGERS: Bet on #4 COWGIRL CHIC to win if we can get at least 3/2 odds

                # 1 PERIMETRO 4/1
                # 3 CABO INTERINO 3/1
I lean toward CALLATE ALEJANDRO here. Trainers don't bring racers back this quickly just for fun. Last time out, this colt faced a rougher field.PERIMETRO - Players get an edge when playing this trainer in a dirt sprint race. With Velez getting the mount, watch out for this racer. CABO INTERINO - With Gonzalezsanche on top him, this colt should be able to break out early in this event. Have to suppose this pony will do well again this time around.

                  Turf Paradise - Race #4 - Post: 2:47pm - Claiming - 5.0 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $10,000 Class Rating: 74

                  Rating:

                  #3 CHOCOLATE FRECKLES (ML=5/2)
                  #6 ALLURING ALI (ML=8/1)

CHOCOLATE FRECKLES - Mare is a few starts into a come back here. Should give a top effort today. Woolley brings her back again. I suggest you stick with this live mare. I like when a thoroughbred has dropped in class at least 5 class ratings pts like this one did last race out and then runs against a similar field right back. Woolley must've found the right level. ALLURING ALI - Based on this filly's recent efforts, she should benefit from this shorter trip. Lasix can take some getting used to, especially for a filly. They usually hit stride the second time using it, like we have with this horse.

                  Vulnerable Contenders: #4 LULA BELLA (ML=2/1), #2 HAPPY CHAPPY (ML=5/1), #7 BACALAR (ML=6/1),

LULA BELLA - Couldn't make up ground at all on February 24th. Hard to wager on in today's event at the expected odds. HAPPY CHAPPY - Hard to keep stabbing at this sort of 'bridesmaid' horse. BACALAR - I'd like to see more conducive recent efforts with morning line of 6/1. The Brain tells me to keep my distance from horses in short distance events that haven't hit the board in sprint contests lately.
STRAIGHT WAGERS: #3 CHOCOLATE FRECKLES is going to be the play if we are getting 7/5 or better

                        # 4 CHECKERS LEGACY 4/1
If you want a competitive play in here, feast your eyes on WHATCHAGONNADO. His 93 avg has this gelding among the most compelling speed figures in here. Surely the class of the bunch with an average rating of 90. A nice play. Certainly should be given a look based on the respectable TrackMaster Speed Rating achieved in the last affair. ROCKINPOPPIN - This solid standardbred and Haynes have some sort of connection going. In the money figure for this team is high. Has the look of a profitable play, averaging a rather good 91 speed fig. CHECKERS LEGACY - Performing well, earned a bang-up speed rating in his last contest (86).

Hard not to support VEGAS STRIP N as the top pick in this one. Pace makes the race is a favorite saying of this group. Pace rankings here point to a formidable play. This trainer, and the driver Bartlett, go together like spaghetti and meatballs. Their results together are top notch. The handicapping group has Bartlett on its list of drivers who are tough as nails most recently. Last 30 days win statistic is exemplary. SPEAKER OF PEACE - Have to strongly consider a harness racer coming out of the Yonkers Raceway 4 position. The win percentage is very good, way above normal. That 89 speed rating clocked in the most recent race puts this fine animal in the mix today. CHURCHVIEWFRANKL IR - Composite pace ratings show this solid standardbred has what it takes to score today. Take a long look at making this horse your win play based on high win percentage alone.
