Rotation # 502
Pistons -10.5 over Magic
The Magic are not your typical #8 seed, and I mean that in a good way. The Pistons are not your typical #1 seed, and I don’t mean that in a good way. Detroit struggles to score, and if their defense isn’t on point, they can’t beat anyone. Detroit has a few advantages tonight. The most obvious is that the game is being played at Little Caesars Arena, where they had the best record in the Eastern Conference. The Pistons might get a break as Magic forward Franz Wagner is questionable with a calf injury. Orlando would miss his scoring ability. I don’t think the Pistons can win this contest for all four quarters, but their defense is elite enough to have the one big quarter to create separation and take control of the game. There is a reason why the oddsmakers set the line for tonight as high as they have. Look for the Pistons’ defense to control the game by forcing turnovers and limiting the Magic’s three-point shooting. Take the Pistons.

Phillies -1.5 runs over Giants +150
Sanchez/Webb
The Phillies probably aren’t going to make a drastic comeback this year to get within flirting distance of any playoff hopes, but what they have is a clean slate after the firing of manager Rob Thomson. The Phillies looked like a different team yesterday as they limited the Giants to just two hits, as Jesus Luzardo finally put together an outing he is capable of. The Phillies starters should feed off that momentum, as Christopher Sanchez is another player who has not played up to his pay grade. Philadelphia has been much better against right-handed pitching than against lefties. Look for the momentum to carry over. The money line is too high. We will take the run line. Take the Phillies -1.5 runs +150.
