LADY GAMBITA - Took a significant drop in class rating last time out at Santa Anita. Returning to a similar class level in this event. Should perform well. I think this filly is ready to run a good one. She's had enough efforts since the vacation and should be fit. Personally, I wouldn't worry about where she finished in her last race (fourth). Should rebound in this race, with some pretty good odds.

Vulnerable Contenders: #3 POCKET VENUS (ML=1/2), #5 ANGEL BABY (ML=9/2), #1 HONEY BUCKET (ML=5/1),

POCKET VENUS - Difficult to play any questionable contender in a short distance race if she hasn't finished in the money in a sprint in the last 60 days. Earned a somewhat easily forgotten speed figure in the last race in a non-classified race race on March 6th. Unlikely to see an improved performance off of that figure. ANGEL BABY - This horse just hasn't looked fit of late. Won't be easy for this racer to beat this field off of that last fig. Not likely to improve enough to run a figure close to today's class rating, so put her on the possibly overvalued equines list. HONEY BUCKET - Tough to bet on any animal to turn things around if there is no large gain to taking the stab.

Appears to have a respectable class edge based on the latest company kept. Ward has this filly racing well and is a solid pick based on the formidable Speed Figures recorded in route races recently. YAU MAJESTY - Mena has a win percentage of 17 over the last month. MOMAXIE - This filly ought to be given a chance just off the earnings per start in dirt route events alone. Has to be considered against this field displaying competitive numbers recently and an average speed figure of 74 under similar conditions.

Can run another good one in this affair. No strangers to the winner's circle, Blacker and Berrios will almost certainly have this gelding breaking away from the field. SORRENTO SKY (IRE) - Could provide positive dividends based on solid recent Equibase Speed Figures with an average of 110. The speed rating of 110 from his most recent affair looks respectable in here. UNCONQUERABLE KEEN (IRE) - Win percentage under similar conditions may be the key for this gelding. Kimura has recent return on investment figures which make this horse a good bet.

BLURT - Faced tougher last race out at Mountaineer Park. Based on class figures, this is a weaker group, so I will put this horse on my list of choice plays. Lone speed horses can be tough to run down. Here's a lone speedy sort facing sluggish sorts today. Personally, I wouldn't worry about where he finished in his last race (fourth). Should rebound today, with some decent odds. REGIMENTAL - Have to give this gelding a chance. Ran a solid race last time around the track within the last thirty days. Rodriguez gets a break on this entrant carrying 7 lbs less than last out. Should be helpful in this race.

Vulnerable Contenders: #3 ELECTRIC CHARGE (ML=9/5), #1 LUCKY BOSS (ML=5/2), #2 HIGHLY PERFECT (ML=4/1),

ELECTRIC CHARGE - A stretch-runner like this one needs a speed duel to set things up and he isn't likely to get one in this one. This horse likes to finish in the money, but doesn't usually finish on top. Forget the top spot. LUCKY BOSS - 5/2 is too low of a reward to take on most any mount that has run poorly in back to back races. Tough for this closer horse to get up today. Without a hot pace to stir things up, the lone pace is going to make it awfully hard to get the job done. The rating last race out doesn't fit very well in this affair when I look at the class rating of today's contest. Mark this horse as a likely underlay. HIGHLY PERFECT - I cannot play this repeated non-winner. Gets the assignment done from time to time. Improbable that the speed figure he recorded on Apr 23rd will be good enough in this contest.
