    Brian W. Spencer's Daily Picks

Presque Isle Downs - Race #3
#1 Fleur Delacour She scratched from a tougher open spot yesterday in favor of facing this group, and she's one of only two horses with proven sprint pace, so she should be in the action throughout while going second off the bench. Lots to like.
#3 A Case Of You Her best game last season came going long, but there are two pretty good sprint tries on her page that suggest she is good enough to hang with this group today while cutting back fresh. Dangerous, but I wonder if she's too late.
#4 Thank You Amy She has some dangerous pace and drops out of a chase-and-fade run at 50/1 in Grade III company last time out, and she might get a great run hassling the top choice early.
Race Summary Could see Fleur Delacour taking the initiative from the fence here, but she can also tap the brakes a touch if needed, and she can be tough if she's able to deal with Thank You Amy early on.
Presque Isle Downs - Race #5
#1 Busker She rises off the good run at 50/1 going long on the grass last time out, but everyone else in here is kind of off form and looking for something better, and she might just need to hold that form on the new footing to land this. Forward trip awaits.
#4 Alluring Beauty First reaction when coming across her in this race was to say 'yea, I guess.' Her better stuff fits, and she was fine in her one local try here last season going short, but I'm just not that excited at what might not be a particularly appealing price.
#6 Lady Lydia She was flat in a short field last out at Laurel, but she should get the right kind of trip from out here while tracking a potentially mild pace.
Race Summary Busker should have a run for it from the fence, and something like her last might do the trick here. Synthetic footing also offers hope for #3 More Than Hope off the dull debut.
Presque Isle Downs - Race #8
#3 Come Out Tonight He beat a soft group to graduate here last fall, but I like the way he moved forward that day when getting over the local footing for the first time, and I wonder if he could potentially come back with something better as a 3-year-old getting Lasix for the first time. Might just like it here.
#6 Revolutionnaire He's probably supposed to win this with his baseline stuff -- there's a stakes placing on his page behind Zulu Kingdom last year -- and he may still have some better form to find while racing third off the bench for the new barn.
#4 Jes See Me I like the way he has been finishing up his recent races, and I'm interested to see him try a two-turn run locally. He handled the surface last season but seems to be a better horse now. Not impossible.
Race Summary Come Out Tonight looked good rolling a claiming group to graduate when last seen here in October, and I'm willing to give him a look to handle this better group off the layoff at what should be an OK price.

      Frank Carulli's Daily Picks

      Delaware Park - Race #1
#3 AZURE SKY (9-2) Bad record offset by good company lines in Florida and projected livelier pace.
#4 MAJESTIC TIGER (7-2) Winless at Delaware but averaged 66 Beyer in 10 of 12 starts in the past year.
#6 REAL TALENTED (6-5) Upset romp at proven distance two starts back from post 10.
Race Summary AZURE SKY ‘improved’ while tracking a slow pace in a higher-tagged route race. He makes his second start since arriving from Tampa, where he also improved and just missed in his second start off a layoff at this level. He met $441k earner American Farmer and back-to-back repeat winners after the runner-up finish. Bet to win and place and play 3-4, 3-6 and 3-7 exactas.
      Delaware Park - Race #3
#1 REVEREND MOON (8-5) Been facing quality rivals, takes magnified class drop, todays Best Bet.
#3 MAGIC SPIN (15-1) Once-classy 8yo has had trouble at the break in 5 of last 9 starts.
#7 CAPT. CANDY (2-1) Won 3 of last 4 at Penn National, can use his speed well from the outside.
Race Summary REVEREND MOON gave way chasing the 1-to-5 favorite Liberte de Bayeux (4-17, $163k) in the stretch for a $10,000 claiming tag last out. He met similar fate while stalking odds-on stablemate Guapo Again (8-26, $140k) in the race prior. He figures up close throughout with Paco aboard and his class should prevail in this spot. Bet to win and place and play 1-3 and 1-7 exactas.
      Delaware Park - Race #8
#3 BAHA SECRET (8-5) Adapted well to ‘lead’ role at Tampa, can rate, still eligible under nw/4 condition.
#2 COMPASS FIRE (5-1) Won 3 of 4 and earned top speed fig around this time last year at Delaware.
#6 FOXY LADY (2-1) No factor off claim on return to town, too much back-class to ignore.
Race Summary BAHA SECRET sped off win two sprint victories at Tampa Bay Downs this year after a three-year winless drought. He remains eligible for this race under the non-winners-of-4 condition, but picks up 9 pounds with Rios aboard for the first time. Bet to win and place and play 3-2 and 3-6 exactas.

            # 6 O G MR. BRIGHTSIDE 8/5
            # 5 DRILL CITY 7/2
ATLAS FALLS has a formidable shot to take this race. Going in a dirt sprint race gives this horse a strong shot. Has to be given a chance based on the very good speed figure earned in the last competition. Appears to have a quite good class edge based on the latest company kept. O G MR. BRIGHTSIDE - Lately Rivera has been hot which may give the edge to this gelding. Has to be carefully examined based on the respectable Equibase Speed Fig recorded in the last affair. DRILL CITY - Has raced solidly in dirt sprint races.

              Presque Isle Downs - Race #4 - Post: 4:51pm - Claiming - 8.0 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $16,000 Class Rating: 77

              Rating:

              #1 COCKTAIL KISSES (ML=5/2)

COCKTAIL KISSES - This mount could be tough this time, especially since Martinez rode last time around the track and now should be plenty familiar with this one. This jockey and trainer's horses have been producing a profitable return on investment. Believe in this pony. Coming off the pace, I think she'll be in a wonderful spot to bury them in the stretch. Just look at her latest speed figure, 79. That one looks good in this bunch.

              Vulnerable Contenders: #6 ROCK TUNE (ML=2/1), #4 BAYTOWN STORM (ML=3/1), #5 SUMMER FOREVER (ML=9/2),

ROCK TUNE - Hasn't been close to winning at all recently. This chalk horse probably needs at least one race to get back into shape. Skip her today. Mediocre speed rating in the last race at Laurel at 1 mile. Don't think this vulnerable equine will improve too much in today's race. BAYTOWN STORM - If you keep playing these sort of 'bridesmaid' types, you're going to be dissatisfied often. Mediocre speed figure last out at Turfway Park at 1 mile. Don't feel this racer will improve too much in today's event.

GUEST COMMENTARY: Winston - COCKTAIL KISSES - That bullet move should put this racer on edge versus the rest of the field. Worth a bet today.

STRAIGHT WAGERS: #1 COCKTAIL KISSES is the play if we get odds of 1/1 or better
              EXACTA WAGERS: 1 with 2

                # 9 HEZA HIGHER FIRE 12/1
                # 4 SWIFTIE 6/1
JRS SHA BOO CARTEL has a very strong shot to take this race. Rodriguez has recent return on investment numbers which make this horse a strong bet. Will almost certainly compete admirably in the pace battle which bodes well with this group. Win percentage with this jock and handler combo - 16 percent - reliable. HEZA HIGHER FIRE - Has formidable speed figures and has to be considered for a wager for this event. This gelding looks good in this race since Medrano has a very strong win percentage with horses going this distance.

                  Parx Racing - Race #9 - Post: 4:16pm - Claiming - 8.3 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $18,000 Class Rating: 59

                  Rating:

                  #6 LULLABY LAND (ML=6/1)
                  #8 UMBRAL (ML=3/1)
                  #10 AMY MULE (ML=5/1)

LULLABY LAND - Last time this mare ran today's distance she got a speed figure that would probably win today's race. The way this clash sets up this mare will be in the 'garden' spot when they dash for the finish. Finished fourth at Parx Racing last out. Was close at the end and at odds of 6/1 in this field, she looks like a possible contender. UMBRAL - I like that most recent race on May 11th at Parx Racing where she finished second. Dandy drops her down to this class. You don't need too much more handicapping knowledge to think this thoroughbred should have a chance to win at this level. This mare's last speed figure is high enough to prove victorious here, I'll wager on her right back this time around. AMY MULE - A thoroughbred coming back this promptly after a nice effort is a good signal.

                  Vulnerable Contenders: #1 MISS CHAMITA (ML=4/1), #9 GHOSTLY GIRL (ML=6/1), #2 SWEET MARIE (ML=6/1),

MISS CHAMITA - You always believe this animal has a shot to be victorious, but she falters most every time. GHOSTLY GIRL - Tough to put your cash on the win end of any thoroughbred that finishes second and third as often as this entrant does.

GUEST COMMENTARY: Winston - LULLABY LAND - The affair on Jan 8th had a class rating of 72 while today's class rating is 59. I got to bet this one on such a big drop.

STRAIGHT WAGERS: #6 LULLABY LAND to win at post-time odds of 3/1 or better
