Jeremy Plonk: Bet $100, Get $10 Parx Key Plays | Tuesday, June 2

                  June 2, 2026 | By Jeremy Plonk

Throughout June, Tuesdays and Thursday heat up at 1/ST BET and Xpressbet with our Summertime Scores promotion. Bet $100, Get $10 on select tracks this month. First up Tuesday will be Parx – and note Thursday’s offering will be the Belmont Stakes Festival card at Saratoga. Here’s how I’ll approach Parx with an assist from the Betmix Angler database.

                  Parx Race 8 | 3:49 pm ET
#3 Global Steve (15-1 morning line odds) looked like a good thing in winning both juvenile starts in 2024, but made only 3 starts in 2025 and 1 in February this year before going to the sideline again. Trainer Butch Reid adds first-time Lasix and note this barn has done nearly everything right the past 3 weeks at Parx going 11: 6-1-1 during that span. It’s a very tough field, so let’s work this price play with a small win bet and an exacta key-box 3 with 1,2,6 trying to pair up with 1 of the talented logical contenders.

                  Parx Race 9 | 4:16 pm ET
#2 Fast Bob (9-5 morning line odds) just missed against tougher last out and drops in class off the claim for Parx’s hottest trainer, Ernesto Padilla-Preciado. That barn has won 30% with nearly 50% in the exacta from 30 starters over the past 3 weeks locally. Well-drawn and gets the nod over Jamie Ness’ favored Walk Away Joe. Win bet. Use daily doubles from Race 8 to get to this one and single in the late-day multi-race bets.

                  Eligible tracks and days:
                  • Tuesday, June 2 // Parx
                  • Thursday, June 4 // Saratoga
                  • Tuesday, June 9 // Finger Lakes
                  • Thursday, June 11 // Horseshoe Indianapolis
                  • Tuesday, June 16 // Mountaineer
                  • Thursday, June 18 // Canterbury
                  • Tuesday, June 23 // Thistledown
                  • Thursday, June 25 // Colonial Downs
                  • Tuesday, June 30 // Fort Erie

                    #10
                    Brian W. Spencer's Daily Picks

Presque Isle Downs - Race #1
#4 Hardly Ready Worried the price is going to be an underlay here, but the two-back run checks a lot of boxes -- especially the proven synthetic form and the ability to class up with a cheaper claiming group. Think she'll handle these.
#2 Starship Legacy she's capable of something better than the last one, and there are a couple of tries on her page here last season that might put her in the frame at an OK price.
#1 Lost Kitty Nothing to write home about through two starts, but she showed a little bit of tactical pace in the debut and gets into a softer spot than she has seen in those Tampa tries.
Race Summary Hardly Ready looks tough in here while dropping and getting back on a synthetic surface, and I wonder if Starship Legacy might be the right one to boost the gimmicks a bit with the likely chalk on top.
Presque Isle Downs - Race #7
#3 Grounded Another spot today where the price probably won't be that appealing, but I think you can lean on this guy. He looks like the controlling pace in this spot and was very good here last season. The recent form isn't all bad, and he's probably got better here in the return to the local footing.
#6 He's a Mess He shows up with a couple of big races every season, but I do worry that he might need the race off the bench. I'm torn.
#2 Twilight Dancer The last couple were nothing to write home about, but he goes off the claim while returning to the scene of a couple stakes placings last year. Rebound potential.
Race Summary Grounded should be tough here with some sharp recent form and a pace edge over these -- suppose #4 Lincoln Highway fits on his baseline stuff, but I think the race flow is tough to overcome.
Presque Isle Downs - Race #8
#1 Violenta She moved forward in the second lifetime start when racing fresh last time out, and that leaves her with some reasonable upside in the second start back. Might get an OK trip from the fence in a race with a few forward players but not a ton of serious early burn.
#5 Fozzer She's quick enough to sit up on the splits with this group, and she might be better with this local kind of crew while getting back on synthetic footing. In the mix.
#6 Tiz Her Law She stayed on for third in the debut after forcing the issue early, and that might set her up for something better in a spot where some speed might get her in the game early here.
Race Summary Could also make a cutback case for #3 Aporia, as her tactical route pace might be just enough to keep her from having to close from downtown here, but I think Violenta is the right one with any step forward. Decent lean.

                      Frank Carulli's Daily Picks

                      Parx - Race #4
#4 ACCLERATED DATING (7-2) Can’t seem to avoid wide trip, Paco gets aboard for the first time.
#3 CHUBASCO SAUCE (4-1) Plays to a steady beat, shook duel in mid-stretch and edged clear in latest.
#2 CHANGE YOUR NAME (5-2) Ran away from five rivals in maiden win with blinkers on for second time.
Race Summary ACCELERATED DATING, 3- to 6-wide chasing the favorites, finished fourth at one mile. He got beat a nose by recent winner CHUBASCO SAUCE when they met last month in a long sprint. He returns to his maiden-breaking distance a month after he was claimed. Bet to win and place and play 4-2 and 4-3 exactas.
                      Parx - Race #8
#2 NO EASY DAYS (4-1) Gave way chasing buzzsaw at Laurel, value play in today’s featured race.
#6 DURATION (5-2) Won three straight long sprints at odds-on by a combined 14-1/4 lengths.
#1 FIRE PIT (8-5) Has speed and the rail and Paco off bullet 4F breezing workout in :46 flat.
Race Summary NO EASY DAYS couldn’t stay with the odds-on winner and drifted to finish third in a sizzling 1:09 time for 6F at Laurel Park. He returns to Parx at a distance which he finished first or second six consecutive times. He’s worth a win and place bet at 4-1 on the morning line.
                      Parx - Race #9
#2 FAST BOB (9-5) Steady upper-60 Beyer type can return quick claim dividend on class drop.
#7 WALK AWAY JOE (8-5) Second to 1-to-5 fave Amity Road (8-44, $289k) at same distance.
#6 CHELONIAN (3-1) Stopped, now drops after voided claim and gets in light, towers over field on best.
Race Summary FAST BOB ran his two best races at this level since the December 2 eligibility cutoff date, but he lost both races by a head. Now he drops in price for a 27-percent barn off the claim. Bet to win and place and play 2-6 and 2-7 exactas.

                            RECOMMENDED CHOICES
                            # 1 SUTTON BREEZE 2/1
                            # 4 STORMIN SAMMY 5/1
                            # 6 MAX FOSTER 3/1
SUTTON BREEZE appears to be the bet in here. Is hard not to consider based on Equibase Speed Figs which have been strong - 76 avg - of late. Could best this group of horses based on the speed fig - 79 - of his last race. The average class fig alone makes this entrant a solid choice. STORMIN SAMMY - This gelding is a solid choice based on his earnings per start in dirt sprint events. The conditioner wheels this horse back quickly to race again. MAX FOSTER - Has to be considered versus this group of horses displaying very strong figures lately and an average speed rating of 69 under similar conditions. This gelding has a strong winning percentage in dirt sprint races.

                              Mountaineer Park - Race #6 - Post: 9:05pm - Maiden Claiming - 6.0 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $12,000 Class Rating: 57

                              Rating:

                              #6 SAGCY (ML=4/1)
                              #1 PRINCESS AZARA (ML=5/2)

SAGCY - This jockey/trainer duo has been producing a high win pct, right around 40. Ran last time out against a better field at Mountaineer Park. The move down the ladder based on class rating points should suit her well. PRINCESS AZARA - Note that although this filly finished runner-up in her last race, she was well ahead of the third place horse. This is a classic positive angle. This campaigner coming off a strong try in the last month is a serious competitor in my humble opinion. Ranked the highest in earnings per race. Another notice that this horse is the class of the race.

                              Vulnerable Contenders: #4 SPERRY CHALET (ML=3/1), #7 BAYTOWN MUNNY (ML=5/1), #5 MAZARN (ML=6/1),

SPERRY CHALET - If you keep selecting these sort of 'bridesmaid' types, you're going to be disappointed regularly. Unlikely that this animal will finish better than she did last time when finishing fourth. The fig last time out doesn't fit very well in this affair when I look at the class rating of today's affair. Mark this animal as a likely underlay. BAYTOWN MUNNY - Today's race is 6 furlongs. Hasn't finished in the money in a short distance race in the last couple months. Not the best of signals. This animal hasn't been close in either of her last couple of races. MAZARN - This horse hasn't been close at the finish line lately. This horse ran a somewhat easily forgotten speed rating last out. She shouldn't improve and will likely suffer defeat today running that figure.

GUEST COMMENTARY: Hal - PRINCESS AZARA - Comparing last speed ratings in this field, nobody beats this filly. Tops in the field with a last speed rating of 51 on May 11th.
