Jeremy Plonk: Bet $100, Get $10 Finger Lakes Key Plays | Tuesday,

    June 9, 2026 | By Jeremy Plonk

Throughout June, Tuesdays and Thursday heat up at 1/ST BET and Xpressbet with our Summertime Scores promotion. Bet $100, Get $10 on select tracks this month. Next up Tuesday will be Finger Lakes. Here’s how I’ll approach Finger Lakes with an assist from the Betmix Angler database.

Finger Lakes Race 1 | 12:55 pm ET
#3 Rosie Lisa (6-1 morning line odds) makes her first Finger Lakes appearance after 8 starts on the NYRA circuit. Trainer Linda Dixon’s 6-for-13 mark at the meet is obviously remarkable, but note she’s had 3 starters via Aqueduct – a winner at nearly 18-1 odds, a runner-up at 9-2 and a fourth-place effort at 13-1. All have outperformed expectations in allowance/stakes races. Win-place bet #3.

Finger Lakes Race 4 | 2:22 pm ET
#3 Blame It On Daddy (7-2 morning line odds) steps up in class in a confident move by trainer Chris Englehart, who is doing everything right at the FL meet. The barn is a 9: 6-1-0 in allowance races at FL this year. The sprint-to-route move should suit the route runner who closed with interest in his local dash unveiling and survived the claim box. Could hold a fair price with a few others expected to get well-backed. Win bet #3.

      Brian W. Spencer's Daily Picks

Presque Isle Downs - Race #1
#7 Princess Honor She's out of excuses at this point, but she is capable of showing some attacking pace from out here in a race without a ton of serious speed, and that would make her a threat to plug along late and land this. Decent price in a modest enough field.
#5 Starship Discovery Her local debut was solid enough and set her up for something better in this second start back off the layoff, and she has the positional pace to be in a good spot turning for home. One of the ones.
#2 Gus's Gal She ran on with some interest when facing a similar cast last out, and that at least stamped her as a good fit at this local class level after dropping off the claim. Wouldn't surprise.
Race Summary Princess Honor has been a bit cheap even for this spot, but I think she gets the right kind of trip, and I'm not super enthused about anyone else in here.
Presque Isle Downs - Race #4
#6 Fillyrules She did decent work sprinting here last season, and the two Tampa turf routes weren't totally terrible, so I think she might be worth a look while likely getting a good tracking trip from here.
#2 Band on the Run She is probably tough here -- she has the pace to sit right up on the splits in a race without a ton of pace, and she gets a bit of class relief in the second start off the layoff. She could roll these, but the price probably gets short either way.
#5 Nuts and Bolts She's another with some tactical speed and form with better on her page, so she's not out of the question with a similar profile to Band on the Run. Should stay better today.
Race Summary Taking another one who might be a touch cheap for the group, but Fillyrules might get an OK trip and is worth a look going long over a surface she seemed to like well enough last season.
Presque Isle Downs - Race #5
#6 Shannonia He made a mild wide move in the last one, but I wonder if he can sustain that kind of rally a bit better today with that comeback run under his belt. He's tactical enough to sit close in a race without a ton of serious sprint pace. Maybe.
#3 King Mendelssohn He's quick enough to be right up on the splits, but he does tend to get bet and often settles for underneath shares. Wouldn't be a surprise here, but I wouldn't be that excited if the price got short again.
#1 Inmate He showed route pace in the good runs to end his 2025 campaign, but he also turned in a couple of solid sprint tries to open his career and nearly landed a stakes race here going short last season. Capable.
Race Summary Shannonia has some upside in the second start back, and that may allow him to carry his interest a bit farther today. Think the price will be OK.

        Frank Carulli's Daily Picks

        Horseshoe Indianapolis - Race #1
#4 COLLECTED BOND (8-1) Ideal spot for return, changes riders again, works indicate readiness.
#1 MUSCLE MOMMY (5-2) Dueled with 2-to-5 shot two back, earned top speed fig in field in latest.
#6 BORDER (2-1) Stablemate of ‘Bond’ blew clear stretch leads on fast and sloppy tracks recently.
Race Summary COLLECTED BOND fired a :59.2 bullet workout for her return after nine months away. She gets class relief, gets pace to rally into and gets the nod for a win and place bet for a 25-percent barn with similar layoff types. Also play a 1-4-6 exacta box.
        Horseshoe Indianapolis - Race #2
#2 TOY’STROUBLEDHERO (9- Exits allowance company, holds tactical advantage at winning distance.
#6 CHISEL (4-1) Rallied for second in 3 of 4 routes since second half of 2025, then again in 6F return.
#1 MACHTS NICHTS (6-1) Worked forwardly but faded in comeback sprint, expect better from rail.
Race Summary TOY’STROUBLEDHERO broke his maiden at the Horseshoe in his lone start for a claiming price as a 3-year-old, ran second in a long-distance allowance test and should sit a good trip from just off the pace in his third start this year. Bet to win and place and play 2-1, 2-6 and 6-2 exactas.
        Horseshoe Indianapolis - Race #5
#8 PICKLE SHOES (6-1) Can use her speed to return quick claim dividend at a tempting price.
#3 DON’T CROSS ALEXIS (8 Third to next-out stakes victor Hot Middles (6-17, $256k) two back on dirt.
#6 WHAT’S UP DOG (2-1) Won at Churchill, ran second twice at Oaklawn – all for $50k at 6F.
Race Summary PICKLE SHOES dueled outside the 7-to-5 winner and held second on a sloppy track last out. She steps up in class off the claim and can make maximum use of her speed from the outside post in a field that is a combined 3-for-35 at 6F. Bet to win and place and play an 8/3, 6/ALL trifecta.

              Louisiana Downs - Race #6 - Post: 6:26pm - Maiden Special - 6.0 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $26,000 Class Rating: 61

              Rating:

              #2 DECKHAND (ML=3/1)

DECKHAND - The 'x-factor' at work here is that this colt has been working over this track getting ready for his first start. Gets help from Wilson with the addition of Lasix.

              Vulnerable Contenders: #4 BAYOU TIME (ML=8/5), #7 GARY P (ML=5/2), #1 ALOTLIKECHOCOLATE (ML=5/1),

BAYOU TIME - Didn't meet expectations as the public's choice in back to back races. GARY P - The speed ratings are going downward. I'm not throwing a few bucks at this entrant off of that trend. This vulnerable equine ran a pedestrian speed rating last time out. He shouldn't show signs of improvement and will likely suffer defeat in today's race running that number. ALOTLIKECHOCOLATE - Just cannot bet on this less than sharp equine. Didn't show me anything in the last race or on February 7th.
STRAIGHT WAGERS: #2 DECKHAND is the play if we get odds of 1/1 or better

                # 4 JOHNNYFRENCHFRI 15/1
                # 2 PETESOLDFASHIONED 9/2
I think COOL COUPLE is a respectable choice. Earned a very strong speed fig last time out. This gelding has a good win percentage in dirt sprint races. Looks like a strong player for the exotics. JOHNNYFRENCHFRI - Hard to pass on this gelding with Batista in the irons. Has posted sound Equibase Speed Figs in dirt sprint races in the past. PETESOLDFASHIONED - Trainer has strong win rate (20 percent) at this distance and surface. With a nice class rating average of 96, has one of the top class advantages in this group.

                  # 9 MAKOA 8/1
                  # 4 D'ORO LEMON 7/2
VIA DELLA SPIGA is my choice. He has very good class ratings, averaging 87, and has to be given a chance in this competition. Spieth should be able to get this gelding to break out sharply for this event. Could best this group of animals based on the Equibase speed fig - 80 - of his last effort. MAKOA - Recent figs for the jockey - 22 win percent - make this gelding stand out in this field. The average class rating alone makes this one a solid contender. D'ORO LEMON - Has been racing soundly and has among the best speed in the race for today's distance. Overall the Speed Figures of this racer look decent in this competition.

                    Rating:

                    #7 SIOFRA (ML=2/1)

SIOFRA - Based on this filly's recent efforts, she should benefit from this shorter trip. This filly is rounding her way back into shape. Should run well today. Lead horse at every call in last race at Thistledown. Pretty good opportunity to repeat that effort in today's race. This filly's last speed figure is strong enough to win here, I'll invest in her right back this time around. Ranked the highest in earnings per race entered. Another notice that this horse is classy.

LADY LOVES MONEY - 5/2 is not worth the risk for any horse in a sprint of 5 1/2 furlongs that hasn't hit the board in a sprint contest lately. Doubtful that the speed rating she recorded on May 18th will be good enough in this contest. ANGEL I'M NOT - Last raced on May 19th at Thistledown, finishing fourth. Not likely to perk up off of that try in today's event. Not easy to invest in any animal in a sprint event at 3/1 when she hasn't shown any positive results in sprints in the last couple months. Pace is so important, and this speedy one is going to have an early speed duel on her hands. ROSETTA - Pace makes the race. Tough for this speedball to be able to manage the pace pressure from the rest of this group.
STRAIGHT WAGERS: Have to go with #7 SIOFRA on the win end if we get at least 1/1 odds
