Jeremy Plonk: Bet $100, Get $10 Horseshoe Indy Thu Key Plays

    June 10, 2026 | By Jeremy Plonk

Throughout June, Tuesdays and Thursdays heat up at 1/ST BET and Xpressbet with our Summertime Scores promotion. Bet $100, Get $10 on select tracks this month. Next up Thursday will be Horseshoe Indianapolis. Here’s how I’ll approach Indy with an assist from the Betmix Angler database.

Horseshoe Indy Race 3 | 3:12 pm ET
#2 Stormy Paradise (5-1 morning line odds) drops in class after being overmatched in Kentucky. Trainer Ed Moger Jr. has been on point with his runners spotted in Indy in recent weeks and note this one’s good third here last May over the course and distance. Prefer her on turf to Moger stablemate #4 Fancy Fascinator, who does get the barn’s local A-rider. Win bet #2. Exacta box 2-4. Picks 2-4-3

Horseshoe Indy Race 7 | 5:16 pm ET
#3 Illini (10-1 morning line odds) is a 5-time winner who could not fit the eligibility conditions of this race any tighter. Second start for Brittany Vanden Berg off the claim and should appreciate the class drop from Churchill. A winner here in April wire-to-wire and expected to show speed. Win-place bet #3. Picks 3-6-8

    Eligible tracks and days:
    • Thursday, June 11 // Horseshoe Indianapolis
    • Tuesday, June 16 // Mountaineer
    • Thursday, June 18 // Canterbury
    • Tuesday, June 23 // Thistledown
    • Thursday, June 25 // Colonial Downs
    • Tuesday, June 30 // Fort Erie

      #3
      Brian W. Spencer's Daily Picks

Santa Anita Park - Race #6
#2 Baal Nothing but a bit of chase-and-fade form going long on his page so far, but I wonder if those last couple Churchill tries last year might stack up OK here on class, and he might be quick enough to chase along early. Decent recent work available at XBTV.com -- he was hard at work in it but stayed on with a little bit of enthusiasm. Price should be right to see if he wakes up off the bench going short.
#1 Pecos River There are a couple other forward players lined up in here, but there's a real chance he shakes them all off and runs away with this. Capable underlay.
#3 Battle School He was no real threat in the debut try, but he got past a few horses that day and has some upside while trying this softer group at second asking. Not a whole lot of other finishing form lined up here.
Race Summary Nothing to get too excited about in here, but I thought Baal was worth a little swing off the bench while trying a sprint spot for the first time. Couple of interesting horses drawn far outside in here, too.
Santa Anita Park - Race #8
#1 One More Freud He came back in a tough spot last time out, and the runner-up was back to roll a good group in the Grade I Woody Stephens last weekend, so I am thinking this softer spot might give him room to bounce back while going second off the bench. Enough to like.
#3 Secured Freedom He finished in front of the top choice last out, but I think there might be less upside after a string of solid races that still left me wanting a bit more -- especially if the price is short.
#4 Decisive Win He looked like a potential talent last out when getting around two turns, and the winner he caught on debut was the same one who handled the top pair here in the Pat Day Mile. All roads run through common ties with Crude Velocity is this one.
Race Summary One More Freud never really got involved in the comeback spot, but that gives him room to come forward today with a more tactical trip.
Santa Anita Park - Race #9
#2 Druidic He is the kind of horse who seems like he's always right there at a price, and one of those times he's going to punch home. Think he's on par with the better ones in here if he brings his A-game, and he has turned in a couple quick works since the last one that I'm hoping are hints that he's ready to.
#10 Frank Bullitt He didn't miss by much last time out and figures tough if he holds the form right back, but I worry he's going to get bet again in a race where I feel like a small handful of them could win it. Obvious player.
#8 Warm Sun and Brew Considered him on top, as he hasn't done anything wrong through those six starts and might like this type of local sprint trip. Dangerous tactical threat.
Race Summary Druidic typically shows up with an honest race, and he has been working forwardly since his last run -- could see him landing this if he brings a peak try.

        #4
        Frank Carulli's Daily Picks

        Woodbine - Race #2
#3 CALL ME MISSLUCKY (6-1) Improving form, speed should carry well in this field.
#1 CLOSING APPEAL (2-1) Rallying second in return, evenly in faster-paced follow-up, gets class relief.
#4 HOW NOON IS NOW (8-1) Busy work tab for debut, gets Lasix, need not be much to contend.
Race Summary CALL ME MISSLUCKY stalked the winner through ‘moderate’ fractions while 3-wide, lacked late kick and finished fourth in a longer sprint. She posted ascending speed figures this year and gets in light-weighted in an attempt to finish in the money for the first time in nine starts. Bet to win and place and play a 20-cent trifecta with numbers 1, 3/1, 2, 3, 4, 5/ALL.
        Woodbine - Race #5
#1 MINIMUM FORTY (Even) Has done little wrong in three starts, holds tactical advantage, too.
#5 REACH FOR THE TOP (12-1) 3-year-old chased the winning favorite in her seasonal debut.
#2 WOZNIACKI (3-1) Earned most of her soon-to-be $100k bankroll at this level, sheds the blinkers.
Race Summary MINIMUM FORTY led until the closing yards in her bid to remain perfect in three starts. She can control the pace throughout at her maiden-winning distance for a 27-percent trainer-jockey duo since 2025. Bet to win and place and play 1-2 and 1-5 exactas.
        Woodbine - Race #7
#4 ELISSA’S MACHO (8-1) Plenty of things to like with this 3yo, especially the 8-1 morning-line price.
#1 CHOCOLATECROSSANT (3-1) Good 5F workout on the turf for high-percentage barn with these types.
#7 SHE REIGNS (2-1) $180k purchase was no factor in Maiden Special Weight ranks, maybe with these.
Race Summary ELISSA’S MACHO finished second in her debut to a next-out, 13-1 stakes runaway, then she lacked room on the backstretch but rallied to finish second against the boys. The added ground should suit her well if she handles the surface change. Bet to win and place and play a 4-ALL exacta.

              # 5 BENJI STAR 6/1
              # 3 PRIDE'S PRINCE 9/5
EASTBOSTONBENNY has a very strong shot to take this race. Looks decent against this group of horses in this race and ought to be one of the leaders. Is difficult not to look at given the company run in lately. Klesaris has this gelding running well and is a formidable choice based on the very strong Equibase Speed Figures recorded in sprint races as of late. BENJI STAR - Shows solid speed figures on average overall when compared with the rest of this field. Could best this group based on the speed figure - 95 - of his last affair. PRIDE'S PRINCE - Will most likely go to the lead and could never look back. Conditioner has solid win rate (19 percent) at this distance and surface.

                Thistledown - Race #8 - Post: 4:20pm - Claiming - 6.0 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $22,400 Class Rating: 74

                Rating:

                #4 AINT NO BANDLEADER (ML=5/1)
                #6 PAINT THE TOWN (ML=8/1)
                #1 ILIKETHAT (ML=2/1)

AINT NO BANDLEADER - My expertise says this is the only presser in the race. Dropped in class in the last race, and keeps in that lower class in this event. A good sign this horse is comfortable and ready to go. PAINT THE TOWN - I think this gelding could run back to his winning race from April 2nd, when he won a $15,000 Claiming race, a higher class than today's race. The rider and handler combination have a lucrative return on investment when they team up. ILIKETHAT - I took a look at this gelding's finishes. He's almost always in-the-money. Have to make this gelding a contender; he comes off a sharp contest on May 13th. Good winning percent this jock and handler tandem have been putting together. Everybody's got their favorite tracks, but if you ask this horse, I think his answer would be Thistledown. He has the topmost earnings per start (EPS). Take a long look at this one.

                Vulnerable Contenders: #3 HITE (ML=9/5), #5 INTO GOLD (ML=4/1),

HITE - Too far back on May 28th for me to bet on at the probable odds in today's sprint race. Didn't do a whole lot last time. Probably won't make an impact in today's race. Will not be easy for this horse to beat this bunch off of that last speed rating. Unlikely to improve enough to run a figure close enough to today's class rating, so put him on the likely underpriced contenders list. INTO GOLD - He had to show me more against that weaker field in the last race on May 18th to get my support today.
STRAIGHT WAGERS: Bet on #4 AINT NO BANDLEADER to win if you can get at least 2/1 odds

                  # 1 ARIJANA'S PEARL 9/2
                  # 3 CACHINNATION 2/1
                  # 6 WHERE'S MARILYN 5/1
I think ARIJANA'S PEARL is a solid choice. Has quite good Speed Figures and has to be considered for a bet here. Recorded a reliable speed rating in the most recent race. Can run another good one in this race. Looks to have a quite good class edge based on the latest company kept. CACHINNATION - Has run soundly when running a turf route race. With a very good 71 Equibase speed fig last time out, will clearly be a factor in this affair. WHERE'S MARILYN - This filly could improve with second time Lasix. Is a very strong contender based on numbers put up recently under today's conditions.

                    Belterra Park - Race #8 - Post: 4:05pm - Maiden Claiming - 8.5 furlongs on the Turf. Purse: $9,500 Class Rating: 70

                    Rating:

                    #4 SHANE FALCO (ML=7/2)
                    #8 DUAL CITIZEN (ML=15/1)
                    #6 ENGLISH BOBBY (ML=6/1)

SHANE FALCO - Not much early speed in this race other than this steed. In this race here, this horse has earned the highest Equibase speed fig at the distance, so I have to give him the edge. The morning line odds on this gelding are higher than those of the other entrant from the shedrow of handler West. Often the longer-priced part of a 'split' entry wins. I like this gelding. Has the topmost earnings per race in this contest. DUAL CITIZEN - My handicapping know-how tells me to watch out for this mount in this event ENGLISH BOBBY - Has found a great spot today.

                    Vulnerable Contenders: #5 HIGHLIGHTER (ML=5/2), #2 ONYX OUTLAW (ML=4/1), #7 DROGON (ML=5/1),

HIGHLIGHTER - This morning-line choice may be out of form without any recent drills. Finished fourth in his most recent performance with a mediocre speed figure. When I look at today's class figure, it would take an improved performance to win after that in this field. ONYX OUTLAW - Unlikely that the fig he recorded on May 28th will hold up in this event. DROGON - 5/1 is too low of a price to take on most any animal that has run poorly in back to back efforts. This gelding recorded a speed fig in his last race which probably isn't good enough in today's race.
