At 7:05 pm, our selection is on the Charlotte Bobcats + the points over Cleveland. Charlotte has lost three straight games, including back to back blowouts at the hands of Orlando (100-79) and Miami (129-90). And those two blowout losses set up Charlotte in a 73-49 ATS system of mine which plays on certain teams off back to back poor games. Also, when comparing the results of Charlotte and Cleveland to date, what jumps off the page is that Charlotte has faced the much more difficult competition, as it's played Miami twice, and Milwaukee and Orlando once each. In contrast, Cleveland is 2-2 this year, but has faced a creampuff schedule consisting of Toronto, Detroit, Indiana and New Jersey. Certainly, Charlotte will be licking its chops to finally have a game against a non-playoff contender such as Cleveland. The Bobcats have won five of the last six meetings vs. Cleveland by an average of 4.5 ppg (and are also 5-2 ATS their last seven, covering by an average of 5 ppg). And Cleveland is a poor 11-25 ATS as a favorite vs. .334 (or worse) teams. Take Charlotte. Good luck, as always...Al McMordie.

At 8:30 pm, our selection is on the Virginia Tech Hokies + the points over Michigan. Yesterday, we had a disappointing day in football, as our only winner was Stanford, and even though it covered the spread 100% of the game, it was a somewhat fortunate winner, as Oklahoma St. easily could have chosen to run the football in for a touchdown in overtime rather then win by a field goal. Our selection on Virginia Tech is cut from a cloth similar to our play on Stanford. The Hokies have a great defense, as they ranked 13th nationally this season, by allowing 313.9 ypg, and they gave up just 17.2 ppg. Unfortunately, they were upset in the ACC Title Game when they surrendered 457 yards and 38 points to Clemson. I look for Va Tech to rebound tonight, as Bowl underdogs off a upset loss, that give up less than 21 ppg, are a super 32-9 ATS vs. foes off a win. And the Hokies are 33-15 ATS as underdogs vs. an opponent which won its previous game, and scored more than 30 points in that win. Finally, Michigan is a poor 0-7-1 ATS off back to back wins if it scored more than 34 points in each of those two victories. Besides the technical analysis, I like how Virginia Tech matches up against Michigan. The Hokies boast one of the best running backs in the country in David Wilson (ACC Player of the Year; 1627 yards), and Michigan has been vulnerable to strong tailbacks this season. MSU's Edwin Baker (167 yards), Notre Dame's Cierre Woods (134), Iowa's Marcus Coker (132) and SDSU's Ronnie Hillman (109) all had big games vs. Michigan. U-M has also been vulnerable to big passing plays, and Va Tech's two big receivers (Danny Coale and Jarrett Boykin) should do a lot of damage. And Va Tech's aggressive defense (38 sacks; 15th nationally vs. the run) will be able to contain Michigan's dynamic QB, Denard Robinson. Take the Hokies. Good luck, as always...Al McMordie.
