3* BALTIMORE -7.5 over Houston (1pm et)
You have to be impressed with everything that the Texans have accomplished this season. They finally knocked off the Colts and won the AFC south and made their very first playoff appearance. They won their 1st playoff game this year despite losing their top defensive player and losing their top two Qb's along with other injuries. Last week had to be a thrill for them in front of their home crowd but asking a young 3rd string QB to go on the road and beat by far the best defense he will have faced is asking a bunch. The Ravens, who seem to be a playoff regular finally get a home game and this team should be sky high. The Ravens faced this Texans team back in week 5 and won 29-14 as 6.5 point favs that day and now the line is 7.5 today. I do believe that the loss of Qb Shaub is worth more than a point here. The Ravens were just one of three teams to hold the Texans running game to less than 100 yards. The Texans had less than 300 yards of total offense while the Ravens had more than 400 yards when the 2 met. Since Qb Yates took over the Texans have not scored more than 20 points on the road. I expect the Ravens defense to force Yates into mistakes as I see the Ravens who are ranked #2 vs. the run slowing down Foster and company. That puts all the pressure on Yates and look for the Ravens to pull away in the second half.

2* N.Y GIANTS +8 over Green Bay
1* N.Y GIANTS ML +300 (4pm et) If a road team is going to break thru and win a playoff game then the giants are probably our best bet. This Giants team fought through injuries and a very tough schedule down the stretch to even make the playoffs. They have been playing playoff football for the last three weeks. The Giants are as healthy as they have been all year. The running game has got it together rushing for over 100 yards in 5 of last 6. In the eleven game before that they had only rushed over 100 yards four times. Qb Manning and the wideouts are playing their best ball right now and they have been staying away from turnovers which is very important. These two teams faced one another back on December 4th and the Packers came away with the win 38-35 on the final play. The Giants know they can play with them and that is important. I'm not taking away anything from the Packers they have been terrific 8-0 SU and 7-1 ATS at home averaging 40 points at home. I know that this can get away from the Giants quickly if they turn the ball over or do not finish drives and settle for field goals instead of touchdowns. If the defensive front cannot put pressure on Qb Rodgers and make him uneasy, then the Giants will go down and go down hard. The packers defense allowed over 400 yards of offense to every playoff team they faced so if the Giants do not turn the ball over are make any silly mistakes, I expect them to not only be right there but have a very good chance at winning. It is very hard to repeat in this league and I just think the Giants have and excellent shot here at the big upset. Remember 2007, the last year the Giants won the Super Bowl? The G-Men are playing a lot like that team right now. They gained confidence from a late season battle with the Patriots and rode that confidence all the way to the championship.
