            Larry Ness' 10* 28-Club Play-NBA (signature release!)
My 10* 28-Club-Play is on the LA Lakers at 10:35 ET.

The Nuggets jumped out to 13-0 lead in Game 6 over the Lakers and never looked back. Denver led 54-45 at the half and then won the third quarter, 36-23. An 11-0 spurt to open the 4th-quarter was "all she wrote," as both benches were emptied. The Nuggets, who fell behind the Lakers 3-1 in this series, now get a chance to make some history. Just EIGHT teams in NBA history have come back to win a seven-games series after trailing 3-1. It should be noted that it was the Lakers, back in 2006, who were the last team to lose a 3-1 series lead, against the Suns. A Denver win in Game 7 would be something, as the Nuggets are desperately looking to turn around the team's poor playoff history over the last 2 1/2 decades. Denver has been to the postseason in 13 of the the last 24 years (going back to 1988-89) but heading into this year’s series with the Lakers, had been eliminated in the first round, 10 of 12 times (SIX of seven times under Karl). The Nuggets have stared down back-to-back elimination games with a sense of purpose and calmness, not seen in previous Denver teams. Could this be Denver's breakthrough year? If one believes in karma, Saturday is Karl's birthday. "I'm nervous already," Karl said Friday before the Nuggets caught another flight to Los Angeles. "I am 61 years old and I haven't been nervous, this nervous, for a game this early in a long time." PG Lawson (18.2-6.0 APG) has been Denver's best player in the series and after going 2-of-16 from behind the arc in the first five games of the series, he had a playoff career-high 32 points (including making five of six three-pointers) in Denver's wire-to-wire Game 6 rout. Rookie Kenneth Faried had his third double-double of the series Thursday night and is averaging 11.2-10.0 in the series, against the Lakers’ big front line. However, it's Lawson's backup, Andre Miller (12.7-4.7-5.7), who just may be the team's second-best player this series. Reserves like Brewer (9.0) and McGee (9.0-8.8) have also played well but Denver will need big games from Gallinari and Afflalo. Both have shot poorly this series, with Gallinari making 38.8% and Afflalo, 38.1%. Then there is Al Harrington, who came off the bench this season to average 14.2 PPG on 44.6% shooting, but is averaging only 7.3 PPG on 26.3% in this series. LA could use a 'spark' and it may come in the return of Metta World Peace. He had averaged 16.3 PPG over a nine-game run leading into his “vicious elbow” to the head of Oklahoma City’s Harden and was handed a seven-game suspension, which lasted through the first six games of this series. LA hardly missed him in taking THREE of the first four games in teh series but in the last two, Denver has out-worked and out-hustled the Lakers. While the Nuggets have showed a nerve rarely seen by this franchise in the past, the Lakers have stopped doing the "dirty work" that got them a 3-1 series lead. LA's obvious lack of urgency hasn't reflected well on their new coach, Mike Brown, who's best known for coming up short in Cleveland, despite the presence of LBJ. Considering the Lakers had made SEVEN Finals appearances in the previous 12 years under Phil Jackson, Brown knows the consequences will be HUGE, if LA can't respond here. LA has a HUGE advantage up front and it showed in never trailing at any point in Games 1 or 2. However, both Bynum and Gasol have been relatively quite since. Both seemed 'asleep' in Game 6. Bynum did have 11 points and 16 rebounds but he and Gasol combined for just FIVE points in the first half Thursday. Gasol scored a season-low three points in Game 6 and has seen his point production drop in four straight games. Kobe's had 43 and 31 points the last two games (both losses) and has averaged 31.2-5.2-4.5 for the series. He's 4-1 in Game 7s in his career and I fully expect him to bring his "A game" in this one. Kobe played through diarrhea in Game 6 and didn't mince words when asked if his teammates matched his heart in Game 6. 'No, of course they didn't,' he said. LA opened this series 34-2 all-time when owning the home court edge in a first-round series. LA is also 42-1 all-time after taking a 2-0 lead in any playoff series (11-0 with Kobe). History counts for something and all those edges line up on LA's, NOT Denver's side. It all comes down to a Game 7 and I'm betting on Kobe.

            Good luck...Larry

Big Al Mcmordie National Leage Total of the Month!!!!!

Game: Washington Nationals at Cincinnati Reds May 12 2012 7:10PM
              Prediction: under
Reason: At 7:10 pm, our selection is on the Washington Nationals and Cincinnati Reds 'under' the total. After a bit of a rough start, righthander Mat Latos is finally starting to pitch like the starter that Cincinnati thought it was getting when it shipped off Edinson Volquez, Yonder Alonso, and two others to San Diego in the off-season to acquire the hard-throwing ace. Latos went 0-2 (the Reds were 0-3) in his first three starts of the season with an ERA over eight runs, but in the three starts since then, Latos has completely reversed those numbers, going 2-0 with an ERA of 2.33 and WHIP of 1.09 and the Reds have won each of those last three outings. His last start was his best, as Latos struck out 11 Pirates in six scoreless innings, allowing just two hits and walking three. The Nats' Jordan Zimmermann has been more consistent than Latos throughout his six starts, although Zimmermann has won just once so far, but he has an outstanding 2.29 ERA and a WHIP under 1.0. The biggest problem for Zimmermann has been run support (or lack thereof) as the Nats have scored three or less runs in five of his six trips to the mound, including his second start of the season against this Reds ballclub in which his hitters plated just two runs the entire game. But ironically, that's one of the three games that the Nats won with Zimmermann on the mound this season (2-1) and Zimmerman wouldn't mind at all if today could be a repeat of that one. The under is 19-9-1 in Washington's last 29 road games, 6-2-1 in Cincy's last nine overall, and 6-3-1 in the last 10 meetings. Take the 'under.'
