    CFB THURSDAY TRIPLE DIME TAPOUT!

Scott Spreitzer | CFB Side Thu, 09/06/12 - 8:00 PM
    triple-dime bet 301 Pittsburgh 4.0 (-110) 5dimes vs 302 Cincinnati
    Analysis:

I'm taking the points with the Pitt Panthers on Thursday night. Pitt has a new HC in Paul Chryst and the new era certainly got off to an inauspicious start, losing to Youngstown State. The team didn't spend enough time on the YSU spread attack in camp and weren't ready for the Penguins. And let's not forget the game against Pitt was a "bowl" game for the team from Ohio...and YSU is a top-notch FCS program. But the Pa‰nther offense returns nine starters in 2012, including QB Tino Sunseri, who didn't play well, but is a type of player who "manages" games. Let's also remember the Panthers finished last season with a +55 yards per game margin in Big East play, which is the best mark of all teams returning to the conference this season. While Pitt has had a chance to iron out the wrinkles and work on some opening game issues, the Bearcats will be playing their first game of the season tonight. Cinci returns just four starters on offense and will feature new starters at center, QB, and RB. This is something I look for every season at this time of year -- a team with an entire new "middle," if you will. Defensively, the Bearcats' strength is their back-seven...and I do believe Pitt will be able to establish the ground game against Cinci's defensive front. The Panthers enter this one on an 11-3, 79% ATS run in conference play and they're on a 16-5 ATS run off a SU loss. Pittsburgh fits a 37-9, 80% spot playing on road underdogs of 3 1/2 to 10 points in conference games, provided they're off a double-digit SU loss as a home favorite. And finally, the Bearcats have covered just 5 of their last 17 conference contests. I'm taking the points with Pittsburgh on Thursday. Thanks! GL! Scott.
