4.5-STAR Cincinnati over ST LOUIS - No matter who does or doesn't play in this game, the big factor is motivation. With St. Louis locked into traveling to Atlanta for Friday's one game playoff, they are going to be looking ahead to far more important things than this game. Cincinnati meanwhile still has the best record in baseball and home field advantage throughout the playoffs to play for in this game. Look for them to give a nice effort here with more time to stay fresh after this game.

Cincinnati won yesterday's game as well, 3-1. The Reds are 9-2 since May 24, 2012 when playing a night game after scoring 3 runs or less and winning and it is not the first game of a series for a net profit of $682.
St. Louis had just six hits in that contest. The Reds are 17-8 since April 25, 2012 after a win in which they allowed 6 or fewer hits in a night game for a net profit of $758.
Homer Bailey is coming off of his no-hitter last start. Usually that's a good reason to play against pitcher's next start because of the media whirlwind that comes with it and increased expectations, but doing it at the end of the season with far bigger stories going on in pennant races has escaped Bailey from that. The Reds are 16-1 since May 18, 2010 when Homer Bailey starts after more strike outs than hits allowed and they won in his previous start for a net profit of $1478.
Bailey struck out 10 while throwing 115 pitches in that outing. The Reds are 8-0 since April 20, 2012 when Homer Bailey starts on the road after throwing more than 100 pitches for a net profit of $880.
It's no surprise he's been pitching some of his best baseball in September. The Reds are 15-5 since September 23, 2009 when Homer Bailey starts after August for a net profit of $900. SPORTSBOOK BREAKERS PREDICTION: Cincinnati 5, ST LOUIS 2

4-Unit Play. #957. Take New York Mets +100 over Miami Marlins (Wednesday @ 4:10pm est).

The Mets give Hefner another opportunity to impress them today and I like his chances to do so. Hefner pitched a gem in his last game giving up 0 earned runs in 7 innings and gave up just 3 hits in that game. He was coming off the worst start of his career against Philadelphia and it was a huge bounce-back game for him. Now, he can continue to leave an impression with a quality start today as he faces the Koehler who makes his debut today. Koehler faced the Mets a couple times in relief work this year and in about two innings has given up 4 hits and 1 run. I think the Mets have an advantage over the young starter here and will likely bounce-back as well from yesterday's loss. Both as a bounce-back but also the edge in pitching will make the difference here as I think the Mets end the season on a positive note. The Mets are 4-0 when Hefner starts against a team with a losing record and the Marlins are 3-8 when they face a pitcher with a total set at this range.
