“1 UNIT” LATE NIGHT NBA TOTAL (Pacers at Lakers UNDER 196 in a 10:35 eastern tipoff): This is a rather low total considering that the Lakers are now operating with new head coach Mike D’Antoni and his up-tempo system made famous in Phoenix. Back on Saturday the Lakers offense exploded in a 115-89 triumph at Dallas. While D’Antoni had to be proud of the point production the big news for Lakers fans was that the defense showed up after permitting 100+ points four times in the prior five outings. It is imperative that the Los Angles defense shows up again this evening as Indiana is holding the opposition to an average of only 92 points per contest. The big news from the Pacers in the early going has been the injury absence of star Danny Granger (knee) which is one of the reasons why the team is scoring just 87 points per outing on the highway so far. The most recent Pacers/Lakers clash was back in January when the two played above the total, but it most be noted the closing spot that particular evening (180) was substantially lower than tonight’s figure. Indiana is 6-2 UNDER/ROAD so far and I look for that trend to continue late this evening
