Utah is a top 200 team on the road against a top 275 team here. Normally there is a 50 point differential in power rankings when a team goes on the road. So, what you see here is a top 250 team catching 2 points on the road against a top 275 team. Utah won just 6 games last year and obviously their 2nd year coach had more pressure coming into this year to provide better results. And, the team has done well thus far at 4-2. Utah has won against top 175 Wright State by double-digits and beat Central Michigan who is a top 275 team (like Texas State) by 16. So, Utah has shown they can defeat teams in the top 200 and they come off a tough loss against top 125 SMU on the road by 7 points. Now, they face a top 275 Texas State on the road catching 2 points as they look to rebound. Texas State comes off a 12 point win over top 400 (including division II schools in power rankings which is what gives 400+ teams in the database). This team lost by 15 points to Loyola Marymount at home who is a top 225 team. This should be a fairly close game all the way through. But, Utah coming off a loss, showing better quality wins so far and Texas State possibly in for a let down but more importantly not having beat a top 300 team yet allows us to take Utah.

Both these teams have motivation to come out with a flurry of shooting. The last two times these two teams have met, the games have gone over. With Phoenix getting hammered by 40 points on the road 77-117 to Detroit, they will be motivated to put up more than a sub 80 performance. Detroit had revenge in that game so you can't fault the Suns too much and they were coming off a win against Cleveland so a possible let down. Toronto comes off a tough road trip losing to Houston and Memphis. Against Memphis, who I have as the number one team in the power rankings so far, they scored 82 points. That's a low output for a team that put up around 100 points at home. Look for this game to be a up and down pace especially now that Terrance Ross is getting more playing time for Toronto. The Over is 5-2 for the Suns coming off a straight up loss and the Over is 4-1 for the Raptors when facing the Western Conference.
