Indian Cowboy's Picks For College Basketball

We will likely have a bigger card on Saturday. I noted this earlier in the week but given the lack of value that presents itself during the weekdays, we will pass on those days and play to a bigger card of value on Saturday. Normally we have 7 plays (all for four and 1 of them for 5 units). We are going to reduce our regular plays to 3 units but play around 10 selections with one as a five. All selections will have to have a double-digit significant on my sheets and it will still be selective. I just dislike one selection having so much value on any given week for our full swings especially when I feel like we are leaving some winners on the table on Saturdays. Simply more value to be had on the weekends as compared to the weekdays but we end of valuing them the same with the way we are doing it now. I don't know if I will win or not, but I do like to keep you abreast on what I'm doing and thinking. Let's look forward to having a solid weekend as usual as we went 2-1 last Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

            3-Unit Play. #825. Take Charlotte +8 over Miami (Friday @ 7pm est).

I have Charlotte losing this game by three points today. I also have a lean on Central Florida to do well but the line drop in that game made me lay off. Plus, I've always believed Friday Night College Basketball plays to the favor of the Underdog - even when they were doing Ivy League Basketball which I miss on Friday evenings because they were spectacular for an underdog cover to a tune of 30-10 if you take the +5 to +7 underdogs back when Ivy League basketball were mainly featured on Friday nights. Charlotte lost to this team by 15 points last year and this is a revenge game for them. Note that the line is moving in favor of Charlotte despite the public being on Miami. Charlotte has beat several quality teams this year that has led to their undefeated season so far including beating Davidson on the road by four points which is a very tough place to play. And, if they can lose to this team by 15 last year with the team that they had, they likely will play much closer with a better team they have this year. Miami is a senior laden team that sports a big win against Michigan State by 8 points. But, believe it or not, I have both Charlotte and Michigan State as top 40 caliber teams. The key in this game is rebounding. Charlotte has one of the best rebounding teams in the country and they are top 55 in the league in offensive rebounding. This is why they beat Davidson by out rebounding them by double-digits. Miami of Florida for as talented as they are offensively (top 30), they are outside the top 200 in offensive rebounding. Look for the size of Charlotte to be a positive for them this evening. The Niners of Charlotte are 4-0 this year when facing teams with a winning percentage of 60% or more and the Hurricanes of Miami are 2-6 ATS when facing teams with a road winning percentage of greater than 60%.

Indian Cowboy's Picks For NBA Basketball

            4-Unit Play. #806. Take Indiana Pacers -5.5 over Philadelphia 76ers (Friday @ 7:05pm est).

4-Unit Play. #818. Take Under 194.5 Golden State vs. Orlando (Friday @ 7:05pm est).

The Sixers have the Lakers at home on the horizon in their next game at home. They face the Pacers here and then return home to take on the Lakers. The Sixers come off a tough loss to the Bulls and they will find it difficult to likely do well today as well as they will likely be without the services of Jrue Holiday who had 26 points in a loss to the Bulls at home. Without Holiday, the Sixers will lose their main point of attack and they face a Pacer team that remembers a loss last year to the Sixers in overtime on their home floor. With that revenge in mind and having a poor first half against Cleveland last game, I look for the Pacers to start this game off on the right foot. I have the Pacers winning by about 6 to 10 points on both of my data runs. The Sixers are 6-13 ATS when facing a team with a home winning percentage of greater than 60%. As per the Golden State game, the Warriors have revenge against the Magic from yielding 102 points to them at home in a game the Magic frankly stunned this time. The Warriors have revenge coming in and I suspect they will not overlook them in this contest. Look for the Warriors to be much more focused on the defensive end in this game and look to get revenge against the Magic. The Magic struggle against defensive minded teams such as their 80-86 loss to Atlanta and look for this game to be relatively low scoring here as the Warriors have a strong defensive presence and although not as much as Atlanta, they definitely do have a defensive presence such as holding Miami to 95 points. I have this game around the mid to high 180's.

4-Unit Selection. #316 Take Over 48 Denver Broncos vs. Baltimore Ravens (Sunday @ 1pm est).

              Memphis Grizzlies vs. Denver Nuggets

The Memphis Grizzlies (14-5, 12-6-1 ATS) are coming off their first two-game losing steak of the year while the Denver Nuggets (11-12. 13-10) are just happy to be home at the Pepsi Center in Denver, CO when the teams meet Friday night at 10:30 ET on ESPN. The Nuggets are 5-1 at home this season but they are returning home from a five-game road trip and have played eight of their last nine games on the road, where they are just 6-11. Thus, Denver is one game under .500 overall Still, is just being home enough to knock off one of the better teams in the league in a revenge spot?

The Grizzlies had the best record in the NBA at 14-3 before losing their last two games vs. the hot Atlanta Haws at home and to the Phoenix Suns on the road, and one of those first three losses came back home in Memphis to these Nuggets 97-92 on November 19th. The Grizz would now like nothing better than to repay that favor on the Nuggets' own home floor in the altitude. And they are certainly capable of doing it too as the Memphis defense is allowing the fewest points in the NBA at just 90.7 per game while ranking fourth in field goal percentage against and eighth in three-point defense. Even during the two-game losing streak, the defense has continued to be great as the Grizzlies have lost by scores of 93-83 and 82-80 respectively. It is the Memphis offense that has hit a bit of a lull, but the team is still averaging a commendable 97.2 points overall led by Rudy Gay and his 19.1 points per game, and the Grizzlies have a chance to bounce back here vs. a Denver defense that is allowing a generous 101.0 points per contest to rank 25th in the league in that department.

Although the Nuggets play so much better at home, teams returning home from long road trips vs. mostly the opposite conference are often a bit lethargic in their first game back home, making this a rather tricky spot for Denver especially having only one day off since ending its trip with a back-to-back at Detroit and Minnesota on Tuesday and Wednesday. Granted Minnesota was a conference game but the trip began in Atlanta and the first four games of the trip were all vs. Eastern Conference opponents. All that recent travel may negate the edge that the altitude usually gives the Nuggets in this building. Besides, the Grizzlies are 5-3 on the road and they did win on their last trip to Denver last season.

While the Nuggets have been good a home generally, they have been far from automatic vs. the better teams in the league going a disappointing 3-8-1 ATS in their last 12 home games vs. teams with winning road records. Denver ended its trip with a 108-105 loss in Minnesota, and the Grizzlies are 15-7 ATS in their last 22 games when their opponent had scored at least 100 points in its previous game.

Memphis at Denver (Fri): Both teams are considered contenders in the West with Memphis off to a much better start, winning 14 of its first 18 games. Denver has plodded its way to a 10-11 start, largely due to a schedule that has seen the Nuggets play 15 (5-10) of its first 21 games on the road.

Denver is 5-1 at home, highlighted by a win over defending champion Miami. Denver returns home following a 3 game road trip and both teams play on the road on Saturday. Denver is likely to be favored by a couple of baskets and should take advantage of being at home before heading out on yet another 5 game road trip. The Nuggets already lost at Memphis by 5 points in mid November. DENVER.

                    Pick: Sacramento +13 (-110)

There is nothing about the 7-14 Sacramento Kings, who are also 1-8 on the road, that is going to get the blood thumping for the Thunder in this one. The betting public sees otherwise with nearly 70% in the Oklahoma City camp. While the Kings have posted just seven in the win column, three of those have come in the last five games. Oklahoma City should be on cruise control tonight as they are on a nine game winning streak, and will be eyeing their next contest vs. the Spurs who they consider their biggest threat in the West. The Thunder are just 3-7 ATS vs. losing teams in their last 10, and an even worse 2-6 ATS vs. a team under .400 in their last eight. Sacramento will stick around here against a big number. Back Sacramento in this game.
