      Saturday Daytime College Opinions
SOUTH FLORIDA (+4 ½) over Notre Dame
      Rotation #528 – 9 am Pacific
Notre Dame has been a streaky team under coach Mike Brey and right now the Irish are not playing well, winning just 1 of their last 4 games while going 0-4 ATS. Notre Dame is only 24-52-5 ATS as a favorite following a loss under coach Brey, including 11-33-5 ATS as a conference favorite after a conference loss. South Florida is once again a good defensive team and the Bulls’ normally inconsistent offense should perform at a decent level against a Notre Dame that is just average defensively on a national scale. My ratings favor Notre Dame by 3 points, so there is some line value to go along with the team trend. I’ll lean with USF at +4 or more.

OKLAHOMA STATE (-9 ½) over West Virginia
      Rotation #532 – 10 am Pacific
Oklahoma State is a team that tends to beat up on the teams that they are supposed to beat while struggling against other good teams. In 5 seasons under coach Travis Ford the Cowboys are 45-17-4 ATS as a favorite and only 24-40-2 ATS as an underdog or pick. Oklahoma State’s sweet spot is as a favorite from 3 to 10 ½ points (25-4-2 ATS) and West Virginia has had trouble against good teams this season and the Mountaineers, who are coming off an easy 21 point win over TCU, are not as good after a win as they’ve been after a loss under coach Bobby Huggins. Huggins’ teams have always been good after a loss but West Virginia is just 24-39-2 ATS in conference games after a victory under Huggins, including 3-13-1 ATS recently. My ratings favor Oklahoma State by 12 points with the standard letdown factor included. However, the Cowboys don’t letdown against lesser teams, they play better. I’ll lean with Oklahoma State at -10 or less and I’d take Oklahoma State a 2-Star Best Bet at -9 or less.

      Boston College (+9) over VIRGINIA
      Rotation #533 – 10 am Pacific
Boston College is just 1-4 in ACC play but all 4 of those losses were by 5 points or fewer and Steve Donahue’s teams is 4-0 ATS as a conference dog of 3 points or more. Donahue’s teams have always been good as a dog and especially on the road. In fact, Donahue’s career record (at Cornell prior to coming to BC in 2010) on the road is now 84-46-3 ATS, including 18-7 ATS with BC. Donahue is 45-18 ATS in road games following a loss and his Eagles are 11-1 ATS as an ACC road dog of more than 8 points. Virginia is also blessed with a very good head coach in Tony Bennett, but Bennett is at his best when he has time to prepare for an opponent. Virginia is 52-37-1 ATS in all regular season games under Bennett, but the Cavaliers are 32-12 ATS if Bennett has had 3 or more days off between games to prepare and only 20-25-1 ATS with 2 or fewer days to prepare, including 8-16-1 ATS in ACC play (1-7-1 ATS since the beginning of last season). My ratings favor Virginia by only 7 ½ points and I’ll lean with the Eagles based on the coaching trends. I’d take Boston College in a 2-Star Best Bet at +10 points or more.

Indian Cowboy's Picks For College Basketball

3-Unit Play. #593 Take DePaul +17 over Pittsburgh (Saturday @ 4 pm est)
Pittsburgh has does not to be this heavy of a favorite. Also consider DePaul is scoring in the mid 70s in points per game, so I see them being able to hang in against the Panthers, even against their tough defense. Plus consider the fact that Pitt isn't an overwhelming strong team offensively. If they don't get 80, which they have shown they aren't use to doing so, I see them struggling to open this one up beyond ten points or so. DePaul is an underdog that can cash here. We'll grab the points and the Blue Demons in this Big East clash.

3-Unit Play. #613 Take San Francisco +19.5 over Gonzaga (Saturday @ 8 pm est)

Letdown game for the Bulldogs, but also a good spot for an above average Dons team to make its mark against the league's best team. 10-5-1 ATS this season is San Francisco, and they are 24-8-1 ATS in their last 33 games dating back to last season. San Francisco has also gone 20-8-1 ATS in their last 29 WCC games. Even more so, San Francisco has covered seven of the last eight meetings v. the 'Zags. I see the underdog coming to play and giving the Bulldogs an unexpected game here in The Kennel. Let's take the points and look for a more competitive game in Spokane.

3-Unit Play. #659 Take Florida Atlantic +8.5 over Arkansas State (Saturday @ 8 pm est)

Here is another underdog with bite. This is a match-up for Florida Atlantic that they have found success in over Arkansas State. The Owls have covered seven of the last eight in this series, including winning four of the last five. FAU also comes into this game 5-1 ATS in its last six overall. The Red Wolves have lost three of the last four overall, and so the underdog is looking good in our eyes. Two fairly even teams here, and the points will be good for the Owls in this one.

3-Unit Play. #667 Take Texas State +8 over Seattle (Saturday @ 10 pm est)

More value to be had with road underdogs this weekend, and here we turn to perhaps an unfamiliar face. Texas State has gone 13-3 ATS in their last 16 road games, including winning its last two away from home coming into conference game. Plus, with Seattle going 1-7 in conference play, no way they should be favorites of this many. Seattle has lost its last four games at home, and I think there is a better chance that Texas State can come through with an outright win than Seattle does of winning big. This wouldn't be an upset to see the road Bobcats win. Go with them over the Redhawks.

3-Unit Play. #708 Take Morehead State -3.5 over Tennessee State (Saturday @ 7 pm est)

Look out for the Eagles! Morehead State may just be 10-11 overall, but they are cashing in right now against OVC play. 4-0 ATS in their last four games overall, I think they take care of business against Tennessee State team that will struggle without one of its best players. 17 ppt scorer Robert Covington is out for the Tigers. The home team has won the last four games in this series and eight of the past ten. Here is another where home cooking comes through, this being the fifth straight cover for Morehead State in the process.

                          (6pm) Take #617 Temple +5 over BUTLER

There is about 82% of the public on Butler so hold your nose with this one. Even with G Rotnei Clarke back from his recent neck strain in time for this one, Owls can fluster the Bulldogs, much as did the Explorers, and Fran Dunphy’s well-balanced strike force, led by G Khalif Wyatt (17.5 ppg), was enough to outscore Syracuse in December. Temple is no pushover, even in a hostile road environment like Hinkle Fieldhouse. The Owls handed Syracuse the Orange's only loss of the season, and led at Kansas for a good portion of the second half before falling short in a spread-covering defeat. Wyatt will be the most dangerous scoring threat on the floor for either team in this game, and the Temple bigs can bang the boards effectively against Butler's low-post players.

                                Director’s Football Picks: 5-2, +361 Profit

Last weekend, our expert made only one pick and he got it right. As such, he is now 5-2 the past five weeks with an incredible +361 in profit, just reinforcing his mantra that if he double his money with a pick, it is not worth his money. This weekend, he’s back with another members only picks and a quick look at the fixture list. This week, he likes a match in the German Bundesliga, and he's made his pick.

                                1. Eintracht Frankfurt vs TSG Hoffenheim: Frankfurt to win at 2.020

First of all, Frankfut is fourth in the table and in position for the Champions League next season and Hoffenheim is third from bottom and on pace for the relegation playoff. Frankfurt lost 3-1 away to Leverkusen, but this is a home match for Frankfurt.

Frankfurt only has one loss at home in nine matches while Hoffenheim has six losses in eight away matches. With odds providing better than even money, this is a no-brainer. Pick the better team at home and double your money. Yes, please!

                                What does the computer say?

Well, the computer says that Frankfurt has a 64.7 percent chance of winning. The oddsmakers currently only give Frankfurt a 48.5 percent chance, meaning the computer agrees with me that there is value on this match.

European Football Preview: Jan 26, 2013

This weekend features the FA Cup in England, so the Premier League takes a break for the magic of upset, etc. The FA Cup makes for wonderful stories, but it also includes some rather mismatched opponents. Stoke City hosting Manchester City and Manchester United hosting Fulham are the two matches on Saturday that feature Premier League sides battling it out. Both Manchester clubs should walk away unscathed based on their respective opponents’ poor form of late.

All in all, Europe does not provide anything that is worth starving one’s self over in the way of fixtures, but the German Bundesliga does probably feature the best two fixtures of the weekend with Stuttgart hosting German giants Bayern Munich on Sunday. Hamburg also hosts Werder Bremen on Sunday.

In Serie A, a struggling Juventus hosts Genoa after starting slow following the winter break. Juve has only won two of its five fixtures across all competitions. With Andrea Pirlo expected to miss the weekend’s clash, Juve may be exposed on Saturday.

In Spain, Athletic Bilbao hosts Atletico Madrid in what should be an athletically entertaining fixture.
