Robert Ferringo's Picks For NHL Hockey
1-Unit Pick Take #15 Vancouver (+1.05) over San Jose (8pm, Sunday,
January 27th)
The Sharks are off to a hot start sitting at 4-0 here early on after beating Colorado 4-0 at home yesterday. The Sharks play their third in four games but more importantly after watching yesterday game where the Sharks played hard from start to finish might work against them here. San Jose is older team and back to back games especially after a physical one which yesterday was will work against a team like this. Vancouver after losing their first two has rebounded nicely winning their last two games and head into this one rested, I think in terms of talent both teams are on the same level it's just that I'am backing the rested talent here. Plus the small money is worth the play .
2-Unit Pick Under (6) Philadelphia at Tampa Bay (6pm, Sunday, January
27th)
The Flyers offense came to life last night putting seven goals on the\board in Florida beating the Panthers 7-1 winning consecutive games forthe first time this season. Quick turnaround to play a Tampa team thatis built on offense that has scored six goals twice this year andhasn't scored less then three goals in a game yet this year. TheLighting are coming off a 6-4 win over Ottawa, that score in misleadingas the Lighting gave up all four goals in the second period but played
well defensively in the first and third periods. I understand that Tampa has a young kid in goal getting a crack at his first starting job in the NHL and that Tampa is more geared to the offensive end but that is built in this number. Look for the Flyers to have their backup in the net which teams tend to play tighter in their end. I think this number is dictating a pace that we won't see here today.
1-Unit Pick Take Over (5) New Jersey at Montreal (6pm, Sunday, January
27th)
This play would have been rated higher but the minus money to go over here held me back . New Jersey has played all three games this year to the under following their 3-2 overtime win that stayed under the 5.5 total. Montreal has done the same despite scoring four goals in each of their last two games, Montreal has been outshot in two of their three
games this year and while both teams don't look to have the power on offence that other teams have they do each have some scores, usually when you put two team that don't score you get scoring. Not having Montreal Max Pacioretty in the lineup as he sits with the flu is a hit, but both teams are rested and I expect a up and down pace to this one.
