4-STAR NEW YORK over Detroit - New York has dominated Detroit the last two seasons, losing each of the last five meetings by at least 15 points. Making things worse, Detroit went all in yesterday to try to catch up to the Lakers in the second half, falling just short. They're not a particularly deep team to begin with and will struggle with no rest against an uptempo team after going all in, in yesterday's game.
Saturday night, New York destroyed Sacramento, 120-81. They went heavy on threes in that game shooting 19-of-43 from behind the arc. Teams which attempted at least 34 three pointers last game and shot more than 38% are 69-56-2 ATS.
Amazingly they won in such big fashion despite committing 17 turnovers. The Knicks are 8-0 ATS (13.4 ppg) since January 04, 2009 with at least one day of rest after a game at home in which they had at least five more turnovers than their season-to-date average.
It was nice they were able to rest up in that game having played Friday and Saturday. The Knicks are 11-0 ATS (4.7 ppg) since January 19, 2009 at home on Monday playing a team with a winning percentage above .250 after playing on Friday and Saturday.
One Knick who got plenty of rest was Amare Stoudemire who played just 21 minutes. The Knicks are 9-0 ATS (10.8 ppg) since March 16, 2012 after a win at home in which Amare Stoudemire played fewer than 30 minutes.
They were quite productive minutes however as Amare went 10-of-10 from the field with 21 points. The Knicks are 6-0 ATS (5.3 ppg) since April 03, 2011 at home after a win in which Amare Stoudemire shot better than 66% from the field.
When these teams met in January in a 102-87 Knicks win, it was Carmelo leading the way with 10 points. Tyson Chandler took just four shots in that game but scored 10 points. The Knicks are 8-0 ATS (8.4 ppg) since March 20, 2012 at home after winning the previous matchup in which Tyson Chandler took fewer than 10 shots. The Jazz are 17-5 at home this season, are 8-1 in their last nine there and have been bolstered at home where they play lockdown defense. Throw out a freakish 45-point loss to the Houston January 28 and the Jazz have allowed just 93.4 points in their last eight home games. Now they meet a Kings team that has lost three straight on the road while averaging 80.7 points while shooting 39.7% from the floor in those games. Everything points to a big Utah win.Comment
