Brooklyn had a fine start to the season, but that is in the rear view mirror as they are on a 6-5 SU, 3-8 ATS run. They've lost three of the last five (1-4 ATS), including a one-sided defeat at Washington and a loss to the Lakers as a favorite on this floor, 92-83. Deron Williams has struggled to 37.5 percent shooting over the last five games and Joe Johnson has been even worse at 35.2 percent in that span. The Nets are 5-11 ATS in their last 16 games following a loss. San Antonio had an 11-game winning streak come to an end on Friday, but this team is deep and playing great. The Spurs are 23-6-1 ATS in their last 30 against the Eastern Conference! When these teams meet the Spurs are 14-5-1 ATS in the last 20 meetings and the favorite is 11-5-1 ATS in the last 17 meetings. The Nets have not fared well against the Spurs in recent years, dropping 17 of the last 18 meetings and were crushed in San Antonio 104-73 on December 31. The road team is 15-5-1 ATS in the last 21 meetings and the Spurs are 10-1 ATS in the last 11 meetings in Brooklyn. Play the Spurs.

4-STAR Houston over SACRAMENTO - It's been nearly a month since Houston's been able to play a rested vs. unrested game. They are a team uniquely set up to benefit from that situation. Sacramento meanwhile has lost by 39 and 28 in their past two unrested games. They are a team which doesn't always bring effort and we wouldn't be surprised to see that here.
Houston has been playing impressive ball lately including a 140-109 win over Golden State earlier in the week. They have the Warriors on the schedule again Tuesday. The Rockets are 7-0 ATS (6.8 ppg) since December 09, 2008 before playing the Warriors on the road.
Friday night, Houston defeated Portland, 118-103. James Harden led them with 35 points in the game. The Rockets are 7-0-1 ATS (12.8 ppg) since November 02, 2012 with at least a day of rest after a win in which James Harden scored at least 30 points.
Last night, Sacramento upset Utah, 120-109. That was 21.2 points more than expected. The Kings are 0-8 ATS (-14.1 ppg) since November 16, 2006 with no rest when their DPS was at least plus 15 points in their previous game.
That also followed scoring 91 points in their game before, also against Utah. The Kings are 0-5 ATS (-12.9 ppg) since November 04, 2009 as a home dog after a game at home in which they scored at least 25 more points than in the game before.
Sacramento shot 51% from the field in yesterday's win. The Kings are 0-9 ATS (-11.4 ppg) since November 01, 2003 with no rest playing a rested opponent after a game at home in which they shot at least 50% from the field. SPORTSBOOK BREAKERS PREDICTION: Houston 118, SACRAMENTO 104

3 Unit Play Take #829 Northern Iowa -3 over Bradley (3:00pm est):

Most college hoops handicappers want to look for home teams in mid-season conference play but that isn't the case here in this one as Northern Iowa is just the much better of these two teams. This team is playing much better than most realize despite being just 6-6 right now in the MVC. Their last loss was a tough road defeat at Evansville in overtime and this came the game after a crushing one point defeat at red hot Indiana State which was also on the road. Overall all of their 11 losses this year have come against teams rated better than 111th in CBB and now they face a Bradley team (ranked worse) here they hammered a month ago by 31 points at home.

One thing I like to look closely at is how teams are faring in two point shooting as once the luck and variance is taken out of play from three pointers, you start to get a better idea of how good a team is by looking at their two point offense and defense. With Bradley it's an ugly sight as they are dead last in conference play in both categories right now. They also have just one win this year in seven tries against teams rated in the top 75 teams in CBB (UNI is 64th rated). Bradley is 14-10 overall but don't be fooled by this as they played the 338th toughest non-conference schedule in CBB this year.

3 Unit Play Take #847 Colorado +1 over Oregon State (9:00pm est):

Once again same type game as above as we have another home team getting a little bit too much credit here in this one due mainly to the fact they roared out of the gates this season winning 10 of their 13 non-conference games while doing so playing another schedule rated in the bottom ten or so in all of CBB. Now in conference play the Beavers have been exposed as a team nowhere near as good as their overall record shows as they are just 2-8 in the PAC-12 this season.

Really like this Colorado squad as they have played what amounts to the 5th toughest schedule currently in CBB and despite that they have a solid 15-7 record on the year. They have only one loss against a team ranked worse than 82nd this season in CBB and overall are 8-1 against teams at this level.

Colorado is the much better of these two teams and should show it here in this one. Play Colorado. My NBA season started off a little slower than I expected but things have really picked up of late with a solid start to the 2013 year overall, winning at a 60% rate during this year. I have a big week planned here before the break as I feel this can be a great time to take advantage of some teams having mailed it in before their vacation. Stay tuned as I have a huge play coming this week early on also in the NBA.

Chris Paul and Blake Griffin returned to the lineup for the Clippers on Friday in Miami but Paul was rusty and the Clips were blownout 89-111. That loss sets up Los Angeles in a very good 34-9-2 ATS subset of a 92-41-3 ATS bounce-back situation today and my ratings favor New York by just 2 points if Paul is 100%. However, it’s unclear if Paul’s poor play in Miami was a case of negative variance or if he’s not at 100% effectiveness. I’ll pass on making this game a Best Bet for that reason but I’ll lean with the Clippers plus the points.

Wanted to take time to apologize for yesterday's dud of a day. Let's try to bounce-back today:

Canisius lost to Niagara 66-65 at home earlier this year and there is a reason why the Oddsmakers have set this line short as Canisius looks to get some revenge on the road with the short line. After all, underdogs on Friday and Sunday do particularly well given that there are fewer games on the board and it favors the Underdog with the fade of the public. Canisius is a top 50 offense and this is a team that beat Rider on the road and nearly beat a very good Detroit team on the road as well and I suspect they will have revenge in mind and make the necessary changes today. Niagara is a top 20 team in turnover percentage but bear in mind that they have lost their last 2 conference games as more teams are taking shots at them here as they are getting their second shot at this team making the necessary changes. Wouldn't be surprised to see Canisius likely win this game here on the road Outright and also fade the public in the process. UL Monroe is 3-16 overall and that is the type of team that is a pure beauty. Those are the type of teams that we wager on that have great value and under the radar. This team nearly beat Florida International on the road and are playing better overall and given that if they nearly beat a team that is about 50 spots better than La Lafaeytte, don't be surprised to see a decent cover today with a strong effort on the road. USC just beat UCLA on the road and Washington State at home and they are starting to put together a decent effort here as they are 5-5 in conference play. This is a team a Washington team that is on the down swing a bit who is also 5-5 but have stumbled to 5-5 of late and if this team struggled against Oregon State on the road don't be a bit surprised to see them struggle against a USC team who is in fact better and who has shown they can beat teams like Stanford and Dayton at home which are difficult tasks to do. Finally, Boston College is just 2-7 in conference play, but coming off an ugly loss to Miami on the road by a score of 72-50 it places them in a good opportunity to bounce-back here. This is a team that only lost by 1 to Miami at home and with Duke coming off a huge win against NC State and at times struggling on the road such as against Wake with these mid-major teams in the ACC at best in an effort to get up for such teams, I like Boston College to hang tough this evening as they lose but likely fall inside the cover.
