Prediction: Temple by 9-10
Comments: I have had the opportunity to see Detroit play its last two games—48 hours ago with a draining all-out one-point home win, 76-75, over Loyola-Illinois on a last-second shot and this past Saturday with a 94-79 loss at Wichita State, and believe they will come into this game drained physically and emotionally. For certain, they had no gas left in the tank in the win over Loyola. A team with less than a full tank of gas should be a sitting duck for talented and experienced Temple team that is going for its 4th straight win. This one may be close for the first half but after intermission I expect the Titans to crash and burn.

Prediction: BYU by 4-5
Comments: The unexpected has played a prominent role in college basketball this season and I am looking for that to happen again tonight. BYU has had an up-and-down season and has struggled against the good team on its schedule but I just have a gut feeling the Cougars will take a stand tonight and take a giant step towards getting invited to the NCAA Tournament. A win over 2nd-ranked Gonzaga would almost certainly put them over the top and they do have a team with enough talent to do just that. A near-sellout crowd of more than 20,000 will be on hand for the game—and the crowd is always a major factor in Provo. BYU is never an easy out in Provo and my money says the Cougars will get it done tonight with a major upset of a team over what probably is the best Gonzaga team ever.

Prediction: Northern Arizona by 11-12
Comments: This is as much a play against Idaho State as it is a play on Northern Arizona. For reasons that remain unexplained the folks at Idaho State just can’t seem to attract enough quality basketball players to compete with success even at the lower levels of college basketball. The Bengals have no offense and are trying to win with defense—and it just has not worked. Idaho State averages just 56.0 points per game while giving up 63.5 and even the most mathematically challenged can understand the results of those numbers. Northern Arizona is no world-beater but has all the edges on its senior night against an Idaho State team that is 1-15 on the road this season.

The Blackhawks take their perfect regulation record on the road into St. Louis to face a rested Blues team. The Blues after losing five straight games have recovered nicely winning four of their last six games with three of those wins coming on the road during a hectic schedule. Chicago plays their first road game in more then two weeks
and they couldn't get a tougher opponent then the Blues. St. Louis is loaded with talent and now have their goalie back with Jaroslav Halak back, not to take anything away from the other two goalies that has started for the Blues but how far St. Louis goes depends on what they get from Halak. Halak has been tough against the Hawks in this building posting a 3-0 record with a 1.00 goals against in his last three vs Chicago at home. The Hawks are off to a historical start but they have the target on their backs right now as they have become the measuring stick for every team they play. I think this is a important game as it gets for the Blues almost like a playoff game despite it being February. This line doesn't show how talented the Blues are because of the success of the Blackhawks early on, cheap price equals great value here on the Blues.

2-Unit Pick Take Over (5.5) Detroit at San Jose (10:35 pm, Thursday, February 29)
I find myself on the Wings over more and more lately, I think Detroit offense is picking up while they have short coming on the defense. The Sharks offense went cold but this team has plenty of talent up front and was buzzing in their last game vs Colorado putting 41 shots on net but ran into a tough goalie with the Ave's Simeon Varlamov standing on his head. I think the 5.5 is right here but I think the under juice attached is too much. I think we will see a wide open game after Detroit played a tight one last night in Los Angeles, plenty of offense tonight and I think this one will get over and at plus money it is value.
