Indian Cowboy's Picks For College Basketball
It has been a tough stretch for us in college basketball of late. But we will stick to our reduced plays and solid write-ups and it will lead us back to a solid stretch of winners soon. I'd rather have a bad day being 0-1 rather than a 0-3 with multiple plays. Let' just stay consistent and put together a solid streak together as obviously a 2-0 day is better than a 4-2 day and so forth just in reduced juice alone. It might take us a day or two to get in the swing, but we will put a solid streak together very soon:
4-Unit Play. #540. Take Virginia -1 over Duke (Thursday @ 9pm est).
Virginia needs this game much more than Duke. Virginia lost to Duke by 3 points last year on the road if you remember in a game in which they were 10.5 point underdogs going into that game. Look for them to have a much better effort today against Duke this time around as they will be more than motivated for this game. Duke is a fantastic team but they have been vulnerable at times on the road losing to Miami by 27 points and NC State by 8 points. I like the fact Duke comes off a big win against Boston College at home and this is the same Virginia team that lost by just 4 points to Miami on the road which not even Duke could do. Coming off a big win against Georgia Tech at home and having the goods to beat NC State, North Carolina and Wisconsin away from home shows that this team does have the caliber to defeat quality teams and in particular at home. Its not easy going against the Blue Devils but Duke is 1-4 ATS when facing teams with a winning percentage of greater than 60% and the Cavaliers are 8-2-1 ATS when facing teams with a winning percentage of greater than 60%. And, just like Minnesota over Indiana, this team needs a big win to punch their ticket to the dance and this win itself could likely do it.

4-Unit Play. #503. Take Philadelphia +7.5 over Chicago Bulls (Thursday @ 8:05pm est).
The Sixers come into this game having lost to the Bulls twice this year and its very difficult for a team not to get up for an opponent once they've lost to them twice. Such is the case here with Philadelphia as they are on the road against a Chicago team that is coming off a pair of losses themselves. The Sixers have covered their last 3 of 4 from Philadelphia and in a game that is expected to be your typical half-court and slow paced type of contest, grabbing 7+ points here is well worth it considering the low scoring affair this is likely to be. Plus, on a Thursday night with limited action, everyone will be wanting to take the favorite here and the obvious play which many figure will be Chicago at home coming off a loss. This is a good public fade, Philly has not had much to be excited about this year and they will get up for this game against a Bulls team they are looking to avoid 3 straight losses from. The 76ers are 5-0 in their last 5 games coming off a straight up loss of more than 10 points and the Bulls are 7-22 ATS in their last 29 home games.

4-Unit Play. #7. Take Pittsburgh -140 over Carolina (Thursday @ 7:05pm est).
Pitt has played well doing the bounce-back role on the Ice this year and today should be no different. This is a team that is 8-3 away from home and as they come off giving 6 goals to Florida on the road losing 4-6, look for them to bounce-back here as they have not lost back to back games over the last 7 contests. Carolina has struggled of late losing its 4 out of its last 4 contests, including having a tough road trip getting shutout 0-3 at Washington. Pitt has beaten Carolina the last 3 times they have hooked up and note that for this team to give up 6 goals is a lot and this team will undoubtedly look to bounce-back this evening after such a poor performance. The Penguins are 6-2 in their last 8 road games and 8-2 as they come off 1 days rest. The Hurricanes have struggled of late against the Eastern Conference as they are 1-4 in their last 5 contests and the Penguins have gotten the better of this team of late winning their last 6 of 8. Though both teams are on bounce-backs, I like Pitt here given that they come off giving 6 goals which is a far cry for a team that has much higher expectations of itself especially on the defensive end.
