Reason: I'm playing on the LAKERS. Daylight savings snuck up on me and has me running a bit short on time today. As a result, my writeups may be a little more brief than usual. Rest assured. the same amount of time was spent researching the plays, as always. Neither of these teams has been very good this season, from an ATS perspective. Neither has fared very well against teams from the opposite conference either. The Lakers are in one of their better roles though, as we find them at 4-2 ATS (5-1 SU) as home favorites in the 3.5 to 6 range. I expect them to improve on those stats here. While they haven't been covering consistently, the Lakers are winning games. They're 2-0 their last two, 4-1 their last five and 7-2 their last nine. The Bulls are 0-3 their last three on the road. While the Bulls are averaging 90.6 points and hitting 41.2% of their field goals the past five games, the Lakers are shooting 46.7% and averaging 109.2 points. For the season, they're averaging nearly 10 more points per game on this floor than the Bulls are on the road. With the Bulls at 0-5 SU/ATS their last five against teams that average 99 or more points per game, I'm expecting the Lakers to avenge an earlier loss at Chicago, picking up the cover along the way. 9* annihilator

814 NOH3.0(-110) 5dimes vs 813 POR double-dime bet
Analysis:Early money has moved Portland into the favorite's role in this matchup. I'm not buying that.
Yes, Portland did pull a major surprise destroying the Spurs in San Antonio, 136-106, this past Friday. That was the Spurs' second-worst home defeat in their franchise history.
It was a very impressive road win for Portland. But it doesn't erase the fact that the Trail Blazers are not a good road team. Until that shocker, the Trail Blazers had dropped seven straight outside of Rose Garden and 11 of their past 12 away matchups. This is Portland's third road game in five days. The Trail Blazers lack a strong bench to combat fatigue.
Portland also isn't very good when dropping down in competition failing to cover 13 of the last 18 times when taking on an opponent with a losing mark. New Orleans crushed the Trail Blazers, 99-63, when it last hosted them on Feb. 13. The Hornets accomplished that despite not having Eric Gordon.

triple-dime bet 813 POR -2.5 vs 814 NOH
I'm laying the points with Portland on Sunday. The Blazers are in much better shape right now than they were when they lost to New Orleans 99-63 right before the all-star break. Portland was right in the middle of a 7-game losing streak when these teams last met and they weren't healthy. Adding to the situation was an injury to Wesley Matthews just 90-seconds into the game. But the Blazers are healthier now and they're playing much better basketball, currently on a 4-2 SU run, while going 6-0-1 ATS in their last seven. It's New Orleans who's struggling this time. The Hornets are 2-8 SU/ATS since the win over Portland and they have dropped three in a row. The Hornets lost by 11 points in Memphis last night and they have covered just 3 of their last 10 when playing without rest. They're also 8-18 ATS when the line is in the +3/-3 range. With these teams heading in the opposite direction and with a now healthy Portland team looking to exact some revenge for a 36 point loss, I'll back the Blazers minus the points on Sunday. Thanks! GL! Scott Spreitzer.
Game: Cleveland at Toronto (6:00 PM Eastern)
Pick: Cleveland +5.5 (-110)
Overachieving Cleveland continues to surprise, on a 7-3 ATS run. This young team hustles and has Kyrie Irving back, off a 24-point game against Memphis. The Cavaliers are 6-1 ATS against the Eastern Conference and 10-2 ATS in their last 12 road games vs. a team with a losing home record. Toronto has a losing home mark and is home from a four-game road trip, losing three of them. The Raptors are 2-5 ATS in their last seven games overall and 1-4 ATS in their last five home games. The Cavaliers are 14-6 ATS in the last 20 meetings in Toronto, the road team is 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings and the underdog is 5-0 ATS in the last 5 meetings. Play the Cavaliers.
