4-Unit Play. #575. Take Seattle -3 over Texas State (Tuesday @ 9pm est).

Seattle is the better team here. And, ironically we get the better team who has lost to Texas State twice. I like taking teams who have lost to their opponents twice heading into conference tournament play. It makes for the uglier team typically to step-up as a big underdog such as your South Carolina State for example as they are less likely to be intimidated. Though Seattle is favored here and not that typical ugly dog, they will play the dog role facing Texas State having lost to them twice by a bucket each time essentially. This is a team that has good senior leadership and it is very difficult for a team to lose to another team 3 straight times without a cover. Even in the NBA when you look at it, you would have noticed Washington destroy the Bobcats to avoid losing to that team 3 straight times. That is the case here likely as Seattle is a bit better in the power rankings and though their straight up wins won't impress you, they certainly have had the goods to stay in contests against quality teams this year. For example, this team covered against Texas San Antonio as a 4 point underdog winning outright by 16, or covering against Idaho losing by 4 points as a 7 point underdog or losing to New Mexico State by 3 points as a 14 point underdog. I like Seattle here as Texas State comes off a huge win in their last game and could be in for a let down here as it is also difficult to get up to play a team that you have beat twice already this year in close contests.

4-Unit Play. #551. Take Boston Celtics -10.5 over Charlotte Bobcats (Tuesday @ 7:05pm est).

The Celtics always seem to remember which teams they had lost to previously. They face a Bobcat team who they shockingly lost to on the road and now seek revenge. Plus, we get the Celtics off a rare loss as they try to make the playoffs and secure their standing in the East despite Rondo's injury. The C's came up short against the Thunder in their last game losing by 12 and although we keep hoping that the Bobcats show some heart and bounce-back, with so many teams playoff futures on the line including seeding, they are taking the grunt of it. The Bobcats have now dropped more than 10 straight ATS covers and things might not be getting easier with a Celtics team that rolls in a foul mood. With the C's coming off a double-digit loss on the road, not having back to back losses of late in quite some time and with revenge against the Bobcats with Jordan in the stands, look for the Celtics to step up here with a big double-digit win on the road as this game will likely be defensive and I like the Celtics by somewhere in the teens here this evening.

Edmonton is on the final leg of a nine-game road trip on Tuesday in the Pepsi Center, Denver, Colorado where the Oilers are (1-4) in the last (5) meetings. The Home team is (4-0) in the last (4) meetings with the Avalanche (5-0) in their last (5) home games and the Oilers are (15-41) in their last (56) Tuesday games. Avalanche General Manager Greg Sherman reaffirmed his confidence in coach Joe Sacco by signing him to a two-year extension. The Avalanche continued to develop a very strong core of young players in 2011-12, finishing with (88) points and a (41-35-6) record. The return to the ice of Ryan O'Reilly, last year's leading scorer, who settled a contract dispute, intensifies the Colorado chances to win on a nightly basis. ?Rocky Mountain High? for Avalanche fans.

4-Unit Pick Take Over (5) New York Rangers at Buffalo (7pm, Tuesday, March 12th)
Their should be a lot of drama in this one after the Rangers Brad Richards was on the receiving end of a cheap hit from Buffalo forward Patrick Kaleta in a game on March 3rd, Kaleta is still suspended. This game for one should be called tight with penalties. In that game last week the Rangers won in a shoot out 3-2 pushing on the total of 5 goals that looked like it was a dead under despite both teams combining for 58 shots. The goaltenders were the story in that one, but this game will be minus star Buffalo goalie Ryan Miller who has a sinus infection and instead will be back up Jhonas Enroth which is a big drop off. The Rangers offense is clicking scoring three goals or more in five of their last seven games and has gone 6 for 19 on the power play over their last six games after a slow start. The Sabres give up a ton of shots per game but they can put the puck in the net and I expect this one to be played at a fast pace after the Sabres got off to a slow start in Philadelphia on Sunday. Look for this one to go over.

2-Unit Pick Take #18 Dallas (-120) over Nashville (8:35 pm, Tuesday, March 12)
Nashville has had problems scoring this year and to make matters worst they just lost two more guys on offense one being one of their top forwards Patric Hornqvist. Nashville did explode for five goals against the Stars on February 25th in 5-4 win but this was the second night in a row that Dallas played and their without their best player goalie Kari Lehtonen who has a 2.00 goals against in his last nine starts vs the Predators and has been real good in his last six starts overall with a 5-2 record and a 1.93 goals against. Dallas may be without forward Jamie Benn but this team is deeper and more talented then their we're to start the year. The minus 1.15 to minus 1.20 home favorite is cheap here.
