4-Unit Play. #661. Take Mississippi State +5.5 over South Carolina (Wednesday @ 7:30pm est).

Mississippi State has been playing a lot better coming into this tournament. Rick Ray's team has come around lately as after two horrendous losses to Kentucky and Vanderbilt, this team showed a great deal of pride in their last several games. This includes a big win over top 50 Ole Miss at home which was a monster win for a team that is outside the top 200, falling short to South Carolina on the road by 7 points (after beating them by 2 points at home) and beating Auburn at home in overtime. Both of these teams are outside the top 200 and given the level of play of Mississippi State of late, having a bit of revenge, I would not be surprised if this game is closer than most people realize. The total sits at 127 as this game is expected to be in the low 60's to high 50's for both teams and to get 5.5 points on that margin is not that bad here. The Gamecocks are 1-7 ATS in their last 8 games when facing teams with a winning percentage of less than 40% and the Bulldogs are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games when they face teams with a straight up losing record. This game should be a see-saw but at the end, getting 5.5 points is not a bad deal for us here.

4-Unit Play. #621. Take Memphis +6 over LA Clippers (Wednesday @ 10:30pm est).

The Memphis Grizzlies remember the ugly loss they took at the hands of the Clippers when this team had not gelled with the current lineup that it has currently. The Grizzlies lost that game 73-99 on the road and a 26 point loss for a team on the road that has won 43 games this year is quite striking. The Grizzlies look to avenge that loss today on the road in what is a good public fade to boot against the Clippers at Staples. This game will likely have a good defensive tone to it as it is two teams that will likely play in the Playoffs and this is a great benchmark for both teams to test itself and see where they are at. The Grizzlies are rolling right now having won 9 of their last 10 contests and they look to make it 10 of 11 here as they come off an impressive against Portland in a game that went back and forth. With the Clippers coming off a blowout win over the Pistons 129-97, they could be in for a bit of a let down as they face the Grizzlies at home today. These two teams also remember each other from last year's playoffs as well so this is indeed a rivalry. The Clippers have beat this team the last 3 times they have faced each other and I look for the Grizzlies to finally get their revenge here on the road playing well with Prince in the lineup which has added an element of toughness to this team that they did not have before.

I apologize for the 5* Dud yesterday. We'll work our way back this week with several standard winners.

4-Unit Play. #56. Take Calgary -110 over Detroit (Wednesday @ 9:35pm est).

Calgary has already beaten Detroit earlier this year and it seems they have a tendency to get up to play Detroit. Detroit comes off getting swept by Columbus which could be a shot in the stomach for this team as they ace Calgary with revenge from losing 1-4 earlier this year. Normally I would side with the team with revenge but bear in mind that Calgary comes off a long road trip as they return home. Detroit is 3-5-2-0 away from home whereas Calgary is 6-5-0-2 at home. Calgary comes off a series of tough losses including losing 0-4 to Anaheim on the road, 2-6 to LA on the road and 1-3 to LA on the road as well in back to back games. This team is better than that though and I can see them bouncing back here behind their home crowd as this is the same team that had beat San Jose 4-1 at home, beat Vancouver 4-2 at home, Phoenix 5-4 at home and Minnesota 3-1. I like Calgary on Home Ice here as they have won their last 4 home games and coming home after a tough road trip, I like Calgary to step up here for the win.
