The Spartans greatly underperformed against a bubblicious Iowa team on Friday Night. Izzo’s boys got the victory despite shooting just 39% from the field, just 3/15 from the arc with a 9/13 assists/turnover ratio. If that is all the better they can do against a middle of the pack Iowa team playing with 5 days rest, they figure to have some issues with a still improving Buckeye contingent. Under HC Matta, the Ohio State defense has never been in question. They had an easy win last night against Nebraska leaving them far fresher for this game. Key to the Ohio State improvement is that other offenses scorers are evolving to compliment main man Thomas. Last night, Thompson had 19 and Ross had 11. With Craft and Smith contributing from the guard position, this is a quickly evolving offensive team on whom there may be value in the weeks to come. Never easy to fade Izzo in March, but I believe Ohio State is the right side in this one.
