5-Unit Play. #717. Take St. Mary's +1 over Memphis (Thursday @ 2:45pm est).
I probably made a mistake by not taking St. Mary's over Middle Tennessee State in their first contest of the tournament and we won't make that same mistake again. St. Mary's is a team that has won 28 games this year and their only losses this year come to the likes of Gonzaga (who is a number one seed in this tournament) three times and losing to Pacific, Georgia Tech and Northern Iowa. If you ever wonder why the 6th seed is favored by just 1 point here there is good reason why and one of the main reasons is that St. Mary's just beat a good Middle Tennessee State team who is basically 80th in the nation in offense and 20th in the nation in defense. Now, they face a team who is 70th in offense and 25th in defense in a similar makeup of Memphis. St. Mary's is one of the toughest teams in the country frankly as they have beat the likes of Creighton and faced competition such as Gonzaga trice this year. This is a team that is ranked top 10 in offense and 70th in defense and are led by upperclassman Dellavedova and Beau Levesque. Randy Bennett's team is top 20 in effective field goal percentage and top 80 in the nation in turnover margin whereas Memphis is top 30 in effective field goal percentage (basically the same) but outside the top 200 in turnover margin which could make a difference in a possession type of contest seen in NCAA Tournaments typically. St. Mary's is a top 20 caliber type of power ranking and they have yet to beat a team in the top 50 in power rankings this year losing to the likes of VCU and Minnesota. Let's go with the team with the better turnover margin efficiency, better offense and overall better effective field goal percentage.

4-Unit Play. #706. Take Sacramento -5.5 over Minnesota (Thursday @ 10:05pm est).
Ever wonder why the Kings are favored once in a while? Its because when they are expected to do well, Vegas does not have a problem with making them favorites. For example, you'll see really small lines on the Kings vs. Clippers such as the other night when the Kings won that game Outright only to see the Clippers take their anger out on Philadelphia in their next game. Sacramento has lost to Minnesota twice this year which plays into their hopes of avoiding to losing to them three times in a row (similar to the Celtics not wanting to lose to the Bobcats 3 times in a row which we made a 7* selection). Minnesota has beat this team by 8 and 12 this year but the Kings are good enough for spot wins and they have 3 of their last 5 to their credit beating the likes of the Clippers by 15, the Bulls by more than 40 at home and Phoenix by 9. The Kings are also 6-4 ATS to their credit over their last 10 games as well. I'm not thrilled with the fact that Minnesota comes off a loss to Memphis on the road but then again it will be tough to get up for the Kings one has to think here after beating them twice this year. The Timberwolves are 3-13 ATS when they face a team with a home winning record as the Kings have a winning record in Sacramento at (18-15) and the Kings are 4-0 ATS when they face teams with a winning percentage of less than 40% on the road.
Leans: Sixers off ugly loss and Over in that game if Lawson is Out.

3-1 Hockey Run of late. Let's make it 4-1 with a winner Today: 4-Unit Play. #55. Over 5 Goals New Jersey vs. Carolina (Thursday @ 7:05 pm est)Hurricanes general manager Jim Rutherford knew something had to be done in an attempt to instill some sense of pride and optimism for fans and players. The Hurricanes upgraded their offense by signing free-agent forward Alexander Semin to a one-year deal. Carolina has a better offensive team now with Jordan Staal and Alex Semin in the mix. New Jersey head coach Peter DeBoer has a stable of skilled forwards led by Ilya Kovalchuk. The Over is (3-1-1) in the last (5) meetings in Carolina, (19-7-3) in Hurricanes last (29) facing the Atlantic, (5-2-1) in Devils last (8) road games and (18-7-7) in Devils last (32) versus the Southeast. It's a ?Red Light Special? at the PNC Arena, Raleigh, North Carolina.
6-Unit Pick Take Over (5.5) Washington at Winnipeg (8pm, Thursday, March 21) Please note this is our "Total Of The Month" Both teams come in here off tight games with Washington losing 2-1 at Pittsburgh while the Jets came from behind and beat Boston at home 3-1 with a empty net goal. The Jets have been on a roll winning eleven of their last sixteen games including three straight at home with their last home loss coming against this Washington team losing and being shutout 3-0 back on March 2nd. In that game the Jets came out flat but still manage to put 35 shots on net but couldn't solve goalie Braden Holtby. Both goalies are off strong performance and both are off big rivals. It is very hard for both teams to come right back at it and play that tight defensive hockey even with this being a division game.
These two teams will play right here in Winnipeg on Friday again which makes this two games crucial for a Washington team that is quickly falling out of the playoff picture. Washington doesn't win on defense, the Cap's are built on offense and I expect them to dictate the pace is this important game. I think this one could be played on the sloppy side which will help out chances of cashing here. In the other meeting this year Winnipeg won 4-2 in Washington with both teams combining for 73 shots on net which cashed for over betters, I think we will see the same type of offensive game tonight and at plus a small price has me on this one big !
