Bulls try to Finish off Nets in Thursday's Game 6

                      Eastern Conference Playoffs First Round
                      Game 6 - Chicago leads series 3-2
                      Tip-off: Thursday, 8:00 p.m. ET
                      Line: Chicago -2, Total: 184

The Bulls will have a chance to close out their first-round series Thursday with a win at home over the Nets.

Brooklyn was able to keep the series alive with a win at home in Game 5, but will need a road victory in order to push this series back to Barclays Center. On Monday, Nets C Brook Lopez was unstoppable inside as he finished the game with 28 points and 10 rebounds. So far in this series the Nets are 3-2 ATS despite being down 3-2 SU. During the regular season, Brooklyn was a strong 23-18 ATS (56%) on the road. Chicago, on the other hand, was not nearly as good at home, going 13-28 ATS (32%) at United Center during the season. The Bulls are going to have to rebound the basketball better in Game 6 if they are going to close out the series. They were out-rebounded by the Nets 44-33 in Game 5. Chicago could also be missing PG Kirk Hinrich for the second straight game due to a calf injury. He's listed as questionable.

The Nets shot the ball extremely well in Game 5, making 50.0% FG, 35.3% threes and 87.0% free throws as a team. C Brook Lopez had 28 points (11-of-20 FG) and 10 rebounds (six offensive), and completely owned the paint on both sides of the ball for Brooklyn, posting a +20 rating. PG Deron Williams played magnificently in this game too, finishing with 23 points (6-of-14 FG, 9-10 FT) and 10 assists in 38 minutes of play. Yet again, SG Joe Johnson played a very passive game for the Nets. He took just 11 shots (5-of-11 FG), scoring 11 points in 39 minutes of play. He pumped in 22 points in Saturday's Game 4 loss. SF Gerald Wallace was solid though, tallying 12 points (5-of-8 FG), three assists, two steals, two blocks and a +20 rating. The Nets got a huge boost off the bench from C Andray Blatche. He played 20 minutes and recorded 13 points (5-of-8 FG) and five rebounds. Reserve PG C.J. Watson also played well, scoring 11 points (4-of-8 FG) in 23 minutes.

The Bulls could have closed out the series with a win in Brooklyn in Game 5, but they struggled without their point guard, Kirk Hinrich. PG Nate Robinson was brilliant offensively for Chicago, but they missed the defense of Hinrich. Robinson played 44 minutes and finished the game with 20 points (9-of-19 FG) and eight assists. This came just two days after Robinson's super-human effort in Game 4 with 24 fourth-quarter points. SF Jimmy Butler had a series-high 18 points (5-of-9 FG, 3-of-4 threes) while also playing great defense. Butler finished the game with four steals and made the game very tough on Joe Johnson. PF Carlos Boozer played a very efficient game for Chicago, finishing with 10 points (4-of-8 FG) and 10 rebounds. He has been the team's best player this series with 18.2 PPG and 10.8 RPG, and Boozer will need to find a way to get more looks, which could be possible if Hinrich is able to return to action. SF Luol Deng and C Joakim Noah both had off-nights in Game 5. Deng scored just 12 points (6-of-14 FG, 0-for-3 threes) and eight rebounds, but failed to get to the foul line at all, finishing with a minus-11 rating. Noah had a team-worst rating of minus-23, posting pedestrian numbers of 11 points and four rebounds.

Warriors try to Close out Nuggets at home Thursday

                        Western Conference Playoffs First Round
Game 6 - Golden State leads series 3-2
                        Tip-off: Thursday, 10:35 p.m. ET
                        Line: Even, Total: 211

After snapping a three-game losing skid with a must-win in Game 5, the Nuggets will try to extend their season Thursday with a Game 6 victory versus the Warriors in Oakland.

Denver was able to come away with a 107-100 victory on Tuesday despite shooting a paltry 42.7% from the floor. But Golden State also shot poorly (43.2% FG), committed 17 turnovers and was outscored 50-24 in the paint. The Warriors did cover the spread again though (+7.5), and are now 8-0 ATS in their past eight games, including 5-0 ATS in this series. They shot lights-out in their two home games this series, averaging 112.5 PPG on 54.1% FG and 41.3% threes in the pair of wins at Oracle Arena. However, the Nuggets also shot well in their two trips to Oakland, making 46.5% FG in each game. Denver is just 19-24 SU (21-22 ATS) on the road this season, where it has allowed 104.8 PPG on 45.0% shooting. Golden State is 30-13 SU and 25-18 ATS at home this season, scoring 102.3 PPG in Oakland. Even with Tuesday's non-cover, Denver is still 31-19 ATS (62%) with exactly one day off in between games, while the Warriors are an even 24-23-1 ATS with one day of rest this season.

Despite being down 3-2 in the series, the Nuggets have played well offensively in the postseason with 106.0 PPG on 46% FG and 33% threes. Although they have committed 16.0 TOPG, they have also generated 8.8 SPG and 21.8 APG. The big problem for Denver has been its lack of rebounding, as Golden State holds a +3.2 RPG margin in the series. PG Ty Lawson has been the club's best player, averaging a team-high 22.2 PPG and 8.4 APG in the series. After distributing the ball poorly in Game 4 (6 Ast, 5 TO), Lawson had 10 assists and just one turnover on Tuesday. This helped make up for his 5-for-14 shooting night. The best Nuggets player in Game 5 was clearly SG Andre Iguodala, who scored 25 points (10-of-17 FG) with 12 rebounds, seven assists, two steals and a game-best +16 rating. For the series, Iguodala is averaging 16.8 PPG, 7.8 RPG and 5.2 APG. Four other players reached double-figures in Game 5, including SG Wilson Chandler, who had 19 points (5-of-11 threes) and a +12 rating. SF Kenneth Faried had his best game of the series with 13 points (5-of-8 FG) and 10 rebounds before fouling out, and C JaVale McGee thrived in a starting role with 10 points, eight boards and three blocks in just 20 minutes of action. PG Andre Miller scored 11 points with five assists and is averaging 15.2 PPG and 4.0 APG in the series. But he shot horribly in the two games at Golden State, making just 5-of-22 FG (23%). SF Corey Brewer entered Game 5 with 14.8 PPG (35% threes) in the series, but he was atrocious on Tuesday, scoring just four points on 1-of-11 shooting (0-for-5 threes).

The best player on the court in this series has been Golden State PG Stephen Curry, who is averaging 24.8 PPG (47% FG, 42% threes), 9.6 APG, 4.4 RPG and 2.2 SPG. But he was held to a series-low 15 points (7-of-19 FG) on Tuesday, as the Nuggets got very physical -- a little too physical according to Warriors coach Mark Jackson -- in trying to stop the shooting star. Curry scored 60 points (10-of-18 threes) with 18 assists in the two home wins this series. PG Jarrett Jack has also been incredible this series with 20.0 PPG on 58% shooting with 7.6 APG and 5.4 RPG. On Tuesday he had 20 points (7-of-16 FG), six rebounds, five assists and six turnovers, but in Games 3 and 4 at home, Jack averaged 22.0 PPG on a blistering 18-of-23 FG (78.3%). SG Klay Thompson scored just 9.5 PPG at home this series, a far cry from his 20.7 PPG in Denver. Thompson had 19 points (8-of-17 FG) and six boards on Tuesday. SF Harrison Barnes bounced back from a horrible Game 4 showing (5 fouls, 4 points) with 23 points (7-of-17 FG), nine rebounds and two steals. This helped make up for C Andrew Bogut's lackluster performance of two points and five rebounds in 18 minutes. PF Carl Landry and SF Draymond Green provided a nice spark off the bench in Game 4 with a combined 30 points, but the duo had just 12 points (4-of-6 FG) and a minus-15 rating in Tuesday's loss.
