2 UNIT = Tampa Bay Rays @ Kansas City Royals - ROYALS TO WIN (-132) *AFTERNOON GAME*
Listed Pitchers: Hernandez vs Santana
(Note: I'm risking 2.00 units to win 1.52 units)
The Royals have taken the first two of this series with a 8-2 win on Tuesday and a 9-8 come from behind win last night. With the victories the Royals improve to 15-10 on the season and 8-4 at home, while the Rays fall to 12-15 overall and just 4-11 on the road. Tampa Bay has Roberto Hernandez on the mound this afternoon and he is 1-4 with a 5.28 ERA, .246 OBA and 1.30 WHIP. Although he has pitched well at home, he is 0-3 with a 6.50 ERA on the road. HIs last time out he gave up 8 hits and 5 earned runs over 6 innings. The Royals will go with Ervin Santana today who is 3-1 on the season with a solid 2.00 ERA, .235 OBA and 1.03 WHIP. His first start was his worst (although now too bad giving up 4 earned runs in 6 innings) and since then he has allowed just 4 earned runs over 30 innings of work. On the year he has struck out 31 batters and walked just 5. Also note in his three home starts he is 2-0 with a 0.78 ERA. Kansas City has won 6 of their last 8 meetings with Tampa Bay and they are a perfect 4-0 in Santana's last 4 starts. Give me KC this afternoon at a good price.
2 UNIT = Boston Red Sox @ Toronto Blue Jays - RED SOX TO WIN (-125)
Listed Pitchers: Dempster vs Happ
(Note: I'm risking 2.00 units to win 1.60 units)
The Red Sox won last night's game between these two teams 10-1 and have moved to 19-8 on the season and 8-3 on the road. The Blue Jays are 10-18 on the year and 6-9 at home. The hitting struggles continue for Toronto who now ranks last in the MLB with a team .228 batting average. They also rank 26th in OBP at .293. Boston ranks 3rd and 1st in those two categories. Canadian Ryan Dempster will take the mound for Boston and pitch for the first time at the Rogers Centre in his 16 year career. Dempster is 1-2 on the season although he has a good 3.30 ERA, .187 OBA and 1.13 WHIP. He has struck out 7+ batters in each of his 5 starts this year. Last season Dempster was 12-8 with a 3.38 ERA between time spent with the Cubs and Rangers. Toronto will counter with southpaw J.A. Happ who is 2-1 on the season with a 3.86 ERA, .224 OBA and 1.25 WHIP. Last season he was 10-11 with a 4.79 ERA in time spent between Houston and Toronto. Note that the Red Sox are 5-0 in their last 5 vs left handed starters, 8-2 in their last 10 as a favorite of -110 to -150, and 6-1 in their last 7 as a road favorite. The Blue Jays are just 8-21 in their last 29 divisional games dating back to last season, 1-5 in their last 6 overall and 4-9 in their last 13 as a home underdog of +110 to +150. I'll take the Red Sox, who lead the MLB with 19 wins, again tonight vs a struggling Toronto team.
