CORRECTION - On Cleveland not the Tigers

Tonight, Mr. Aitch will do the Hiroki-pokey at Camden Yards — 10 units on the Yanks to hammer Hammel. Also, he expects the Native Americans to pose problems for Zoolander and the Tigers — 10 units on Jimenez

Where the action is: Miami money not afraid of rusty Heat

Game 1 of the Eastern Conference finals finally get underway in South Beach Wednesday. Oddsmakers have tabbed the Miami Heat as 8-point home favorites hosting the Indiana Pacers. We chat with Aron Black of online book Bet365.com about the betting patterns heading into tonight’s tipoff:

Indiana Pacers at Miami Heat – Open: -8, Move: -7.5, Move: -8

Early money on the underdog budged this spread a bit but action is coming in on Miami at a 4:1 pace and has sportsbooks dealing their original line on Game 1.

However, there is concern that the Heat may be rusty after having seven full days off since eliminating the Chicago Bulls in five games. Miami fell in Game 1 to Chicago as lofty home favorites following an extended break after its Round 1 sweep of the Milwaukee Bucks.

“Could be a bit of rust again for Miami, and Indiana will need to get out of the blocks quickly,” Black told Covers. “Although Indiana has performed well against Miami this season, they showed some inconsistency on the offensive end. You have to wonder if they will have enough offense to keep Miami at bay and keep the game close. Defensively they have been impressive, but it’s the point scoring that’s the main worry for most who look at backing them.”

As for the Game 1 total, books opened the number as high as 183 and have watched that total drop to 182. According to Black, since the move down, action on the over/under is split.

The Heat have posted a 3-6-1 over/under record in Game 1 of a series since adding LeBron James and Chris Bosh to the roster. Miami and Indiana went 2-1 over/under versus each other in the regular season.

Where the action is: Public pounds Pens, books cheer for Sens

The Ottawa Senators aren’t going to let Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins walk all over them in Round 2 of the NHL playoffs. The Sens stunned the Pens with a 2-1 overtime victory in Game 3 but that isn’t enough to convince hockey bettors to back Ottawa in Game 4 Wednesday night.

We talk with Aron Black of online sportsbook Bet365.com about the betting patterns heading into tonight’s 7:30 p.m. ET faceoff.

Pittsburgh Penguins at Ottawa Senators – Open: +125, Move: +120

While Ottawa’s moneyline has slowly shortened, most NHL bettors are banking on the bounce-back from Pittsburgh in Game 4.

According to Black, action is coming in on the Penguins at an 8:1 pace to win SU and even more money is siding with them on the puckline -1.5 goals. Money on Pittsburgh -1.5 outnumbers Ottawa’s puckline handle 14:1 after what Black calls “a few heavy hits” on the Penguins.

“Betting on this series so far has been very heavy on Pittsburgh and this game is no different,” Black told Covers. “In fact, this game so far is the most lopsided of the series.”

“It’s pretty much do-or-die for Ottawa,” he continued. “It would be very hard to imagine them coming back from 3-1 down, so I expect some Ottawa money before the game, But we will still end up hoping this series goes back to Pittsburgh at 2-2.”

The total for Game 4 opened at 5.5 goals and early action has sided with the under. Two of the three games in this series have stayed below the number. Ottawa and Pittsburgh are 2-4 over/under in their last six head-to-head clashes overall.
