Over bettors sizing up Lincecum's start after no-hitter
In his last start, Tim Lincecum of the San Francisco Giants became the second pitcher this season to throw a no-hitter after Homer Bailey accomplished the feat on July 2.
Lincecum's was the 36th no-hitter since 1999. During this time span, and excluding two collective no-no's involing more than one pitcher (Houston 2003, Seattle 2012), starters making their first appearance since their no-hitter make for a solid over bet, having gone 19-13-1 over/under.
The Giants currently own an o/u record of 49-43-4 and are 11-8 o/u in Lincecum's 19 starts thus far in 2013.
The Cincinnati Reds and Milwaukee Brewers kept the scoreline under the total in Bailey's first start after his no-no. The Reds lost 4-3 and the total was 8.Comment

Why we like the Twins on Monday at +145...going to fade this Angels team on Monday for a few different reasons. The first reason being that the Twins will be offering up fair value with Deduno on the mound who is coming off of his last start against the Yankees IN New York where he picked up a W as a +135 underdog where he allowed just 1 run through 7 innings on 6 hits, 3 BBs, 3 Ks & 0 HRs. The second reason being Blantons lack of success as a whole this season, specifically as as of late where he has allowed 14 runs through his last 14 innings on 22 hits, 8 BBs, 12 Ks & 6 HRs. The final reason being the bullpen edge that the Twins have with a 2.94 road era compared to the Angels home era of 4.29. The Twins will be pitching Sam Deduno who has posted a respectable 3.61 era on the season. Deduno is a contact pitcher that has shown that when he limits his hits allowed can be very effective and quietly can put together a nice outing. With the quality start that he is coming off of before the All-Star Break, matched with the Angels being shutout on Sunday and their 3.5 rpg over their past 7 games, we look for Deduno to keep the Twins in this Monday matchup. Another key for Deduno is that he is averaging 6.2 innings per start this season which is a good sign for this young pitcher on the road with a quality bullpen. This Angels team has also never seen Deduno which should play to his favor even more. The Angels will be pitching Joe Blanton who as we mentioned before has posted an 8.59 era over his last three starts where he allowed 6 HRs and averaged just 4.9 innings per start compared to his 5.9 innings per start throughout the season. Blanton has also been a disappointment at home this season where he has posted a 5.17 era where he has allowed a whopping 77 hits through 55 innings. Another interesting trend with Blanton is the numbers that he has posted on 6 days or more of rest since 2011. Since 2011, Blanton has a posted a 5.67 era through 53 innings on 71 hits when pitching on 6 days or more of rest which he will be doing on Monday. This Twins lineup has a combined 91 ABs against Blanton where they have a .286 average with 5 HRs. Blanton has faced this Twins team once this season where he took the L while allowing 4 runs through 4 innings on 9 hits, 1 BB, 4 Ks & 2 HRs. The Twins are 2-0 against the Angels this season. Play on the Twins at +145.Comment
