The Dodgers are on a roll, but this - by itself-- is no reason to play on them. The fact that they are 7-0 since the start of the 2012 season at home off two wins in which they never trailed is a reason. The SDQL text is:

Note that LA won these seven games by an average of 3.86 runs per game and that no starter has had a quality start against them in these seven games.

Over the years, the Dodgers are 28-12 in the LAST game of a series when they are off two wins in which they never trailed, including 4-0 their last four, with each win by multiple runs.

Cincinnati has been amazingly terrible in games that are close to a toss-up after a poor offensive performance. The Reds are 11-36 when their line is within 20 cents of pick-em and they are off a loss in which they had fewer than five team-left-on-base. The SDQL text is:

Note that the Reds were an average of -101 on the moneyline and that they are 0-7 in this spot THIS season, scoring a total of eight runs n the seven games. Brutal.

I am coming right back with the Cubs as underdog in your free play selection for Sunday. This perception/reality line has the defending champs with two time Cy Young winner Lincecum favored by an enormous price against a team who has more wins than they have and is throwing an All Star pitcher. The San Francisco season is turning into a nightmare. They enter on current runs of 18-35 and 1-6. In their last 10 games, they are averaging 2.1 RPG, hitting .188 with RISP. It looked like Lincecum had turned it around after throwing his no hitter. Despite 9 days rest, the toll of throwing 148 pitches in that outing resulted in a game in which Lincecum allowed 8 runs on 9 hits in 3 2/3 IP in an 11-0 loss to Cincinnati. The Giants are 2-10 in the last 12 games started by Lincecum, he has a 5.03 ERA in 10 starts from this mound and Lincecum is 1-3 with a 4.84 ERA in his last 6 starts against the Cubs. Chicago enters on a positive 18-13 run winning the first 2 games of this series. Until the effects of the trades take hold, we will continue to look their way at these value prices. In his previous 9 starts, All Star pitcher Wood has a 3.20 ERA while in 7 road starts, Wood has a 2.91 ERA and 0.92 WHIP. All numbers good enough to get us to the Cubs again today at this price!



San Diego (Ross) at Arizona (Corbin) (-185) 4:10 ET

The Padres are showing some signs of breaking out of their recent slump like the 12 runs scored last night. But they remain on slides of 9-22, 7-18 and 4-14 away. Ross is 1-4 for the year with a 3.35 ERA. But he gets another chance to crack the rotation after allowing just 1 run on 2 hits in 6 IP of a 6-2 win vs. Milwaukee. As good as that sounds, those numbers pale in comparison to Corbin. And now trailing the Dodgers by 1 ½ games, you know the DBacks will be hungry. Arizona is 18-2 in 20 Corbin starts in which he has recorded a mark of 12-1 with a 2.31 ERA, 115/36 KBB. Those numbers are even better at home where Corbin has a 1.54 ERA and 0.97 WHIP. Arizona money line only!



Tampa Bay (Moore) (-155) at NY Yankees (Hughes) 1:05 ET

Can’t remember the last time NYY was this large a home dog. But even this price is not going to get us off our Tampa Bay money train. Looking to protect a precarious half game lead over Boston, Tampa Bay enters today on positive runs of 48-24 and 21-3 in which they have outscored the opposition 115-57. That is far dichotomous to NYY who has lost their way following a solid 29-14 run up. Since that time, however, the Yankees are 23-32 including 3-8 recently. Lack of offense has been a major problem for Hughes who had gotten just 2.3 run support in his last 7 starts over which time Hughes has gone 1-5. The Yankees are just 2-8 in 10 home starts by Hughes over which time he has a 5.63 ERA. The Rays counter with Matt Moore who is 14-3 for the year with a 3.17 ERA. That includes 6 straight victories over which time Moore has a 1.50 ERA. The Rays have won 9/10 road starts by Moore where he has a 2.77 ERA. And in 3 starts vs. NYY this season, Moore is 2-0 with a 2.21 ERA.



Kansas City (Chen) at Chicago White Sox (Santiago) (-110) 2:10 ET

The White Sox continue to unravel scoring just 1 run the first 2 games of this series to enter today’s game on negative runs of 16-37 and 1-5. The poor hitting, defense and attitude have never been more evident than in recent starts by Santiago in which the White Sox are 3-10 and 0-5 recently. Despite a 4.00 home ERA, CWS is 1-4 in 5 Santiago home starts. The Royals are now 7-2 post break including 5 straight wins to pull within 1 game of .500 at 50-51 That 5 game win streak has been characterized by great pitching in which they have a 1.00 team ERA. Chen is 4-0 for the season with a 1.97 ERA. In his last 2 starts, Chen has allowed 1 run in 12 IP. Working from this mound, Chen is 4-1 with a 2.09 ERA in his last 5 starts.



LA Angels (Hanson) at Oakland (Parker) (-155) 4:05 ET

After losing 3-1 to Oakland on Saturday, the Angels are now on recent slides of 23-25 and 4-8 to fall 12 games behind Oakland for the Division lead. Hanson has dealt with bereavement time and forearm injury this season in posting a 4.75 ERA and 1.47 WHIP. He is part of the issue that LAA has had with the bottom end of their rotation. Far prefer Oakland on a field where they are 33-15, 22-6 recently, and 19-6 following a win. Oakland enters on a positive surge of 41-21 winning the first 2 games of this series. At first glance it appears troublesome that the As have lost the last 5 starts by Parker. Yet a broader view reveals that Parker is personally 4-0 with a 2.17 ERA in his last 10 starts including an American League best .175 OBA.
