We know from past history that the Pirates are not designed to go deep into these 162 game seasons. Every year they fade away and right now the Cardinals just over took their top spot. The downhill plunge is on its way. Its sad because this is my favorite team the last few years to watch. They have little talent and play harder then any other team. The pressure is on and that is never good for a team that is not used to dealing with it. Take the Brewers.
MILWAUKEE BREWERS OVER 3.5 RUNS (+105 @BOL)
First off Milwaukee does excel vs left handed pitching, as they rank 2nd in the N.L. in both .AVG & .OPS and they have gotten back key parts to their lineup recently, who rake said LH pitching. The fact is of the Pirates SP Locke, is that he has thrown a lot of innings and prolly having fatigue and has simply regressed big time over the last month. Milwaukee has already seen Locke, so no edge to him early on here, either. We need one "crooked inning" here to cash this play, and I do think we get that. Nice plus money play at a good number, IMO

double-dime bet - 904 PIT / 903 MIL - OVER 7
Analysis: I do see that there's a 40% chance of showers, and that could well be why this came off of 7.5 to begin with. According to the early radar, I don't see it yet, but I am not NOAA for sure. Either way, because the Pirates are in contention, they'll finish this game. Lohse has been simply hammered by most of the Pirates, which is reason number one. Reason number two is that Locke is simply not going to regress back to where he was a month ago, and because both teams had a day off, I don't see them not having the "A" lineup, obviously and especially the Pirates. Huge game/series for them, and I do think it's too much for Locke to handle, and the Brewers get their half here, meaning a 3-3 game is at worst a push. Brewers pen the last 7 games has an ERA of 4.88, and while the Pirates' pen has been good, it's been against San Diego and San Francisco. Most all the trends, especially the Pirates at home, point to an under, but I am not buying that tonight. It's very humid here tonight, with a slight helping breeze, and I don't see this being a pitchers' duel. Not with what's at stake for the Pirates.
