GamingToday’s Consensus Picks October 08, 2013 3:01 AM by GT Staff
BASEBALL Divisional Playoffs
930 Tampa Bay Rays EVEN: The Rays won a hard fought game yesterday 5-4, but need to win today in order to get this series back to Boston. They have no give up in them and with a win today they have a big shot to get the momentum on their side, the price is right and we will be on them.
936 Detroit Tigers -150: Detroit is in big trouble in more ways than one but the baseball team Tigers are looking at getting their walking papers if they lose tonight as they are down 2-1 and need to win this game in order to get to the final in Oakland.
NHL Hockey
59 Tampa Bay Lightning +110: Tampa skates into Buffalo off a good win and catch the Sabres on a three game losing streak.
64 Vancouver Canucks -180: Vancouver has won two straight games while the Devils are still looking for their first win of the season as they have dropped three straight games.Comment

NHL Hockey Play of the Day October 08, 2013 3:01 AM by GT Staff
New York Rangers at San Jose Sharks at 7:35 p.m. PST
New York was in a tough game last night in Los Angeles and now skate into San Jose in what could turn out to be a low tempo affair if we look at past meetings between the two as these two teams have gone under in six of their last eight meetings and the under is 4-0 here in San Jose the last four times the Rangers have been here.
65 New York Rangers / 66 San Jose Sharks UNDER 5Comment

Two for Tuesday October 08, 2013 3:00 AM by GT Staff
2 for Tuesday by Richard Saber
1) Oakland at Detroit (AL playoffs)
No matter what happened at Comerica Park on Monday night, the advantage will be with the home team. The game could feature Max Scherzer again in a possible close out. DETROIT.
2) Athletics at Tigers (Game 4)
This figured to be a pitcher’s series and thus far it has been. Game 2 was a classic with the A’s rookie matching zeroes with Verlander. We see more of the same with Cabrera hurting. UNDER.
Richard Saber: Last week 0-2 ATS; 2013 record: 41-35.
2 for Tuesday by Mark Mayer
1) Colorado at Toronto (NHL)
Both teams off to strong starts for different reasons. The Avs riding the emotion of new coach and Denver icon Patrick Roy. Leafs playing with passion after Game 7 meltdown in Boston. OVER.
2) Phoenix at NY Islanders (NHL)
The young Islanders off to a nice start after being a surprise playoff team a year ago. Tavares becoming a superstar and the supporting cast is getting better. NY ISLANDERS.
Mark Mayer: Last week 2-0 ATS; 2013 record: 48-30.Comment

2 UNIT = Phoenix Coyotes @ New York Islanders - ISLANDERS TO WIN (-125)
(Note: I'm risking 2.00 units to win 1.60 units)
The Coyotes have opened their season 1-1 with a 4-1 win at home vs the Rangers and then a 4-1 loss in San Jose on Saturday night. Phoenix was outshot 51-23 against the Sharks on Saturday and now head out for their second road game against the Islanders. New York is 1-0-1 as they beat New Jersey in a shootout and then lost to Columbus in their home opener in a shootout. Evgeni Nabokov is confirmed for the Islanders and he has looked good so far this year with a .914 SV% starting both games for the Islanders this year. Mike Smith can be expected to start as the Coyotes come into this game with two off days. He has also started both games for Phoenix, allowing just 1 goal against in their opener and then 3 goals against in San Jose when he was peppered with 50 shots. Note that the Coyotes are just 5-15 in their last 20 road games dating back to last season. The Islanders have looked pretty good so far two games into the season, and I like the price we are getting them on home ice vs the Coyotes. Take New York for 2 units.
Kyle's Pick(s):
2 UNIT = New Jersey Devils @ Vancouver Canucks- Canucks to WIN in REGULATION (-108)
(Note: I am risking 2.00 units to win 1.85)
I took a couple days off on Sunday and Monday because of a pretty scarce NHL card. The last time we left off was Saturday, as the Tampa Bay Lightning and Chicago Blackhawks failed to get the number over the total, falling just short with a 3-2 Lightning final. Both of my losses have been by .5 this year, so pretty frustrating, but it is still a feeling out process this time of the year. NHL betting is a marathon, just like baseball, a sport in which I got hotter as the season progressed. Same thing I see happening with hockey. Let's start the fire tonight and cash a winner.
The New Jersey Devils lost a tough one last night, as they allowed the Oilers to come back from a 3-0 deficit and take a 5-4 winner in a shootout. It was a frustrating loss for a Devils team that needs to get off to a good start, however, it has been anything but that. New Jersey has started 0-1-2, and now need to come back tonight for a matchup with one of the better teams in the NHL. Starting the year off with two overtime losses is always frustrating. Say what you want about the Canucks, but now that the goalie situation is cleared up in Vancouver, I think you're going to see them have a much better season this year. Will they choke again in the playoffs? Well, maybe, because I see them finishing as a top-3 team in the west, so they should have big expectations once again. The Devils season will go with how their goaltending does, most notably Martin Brodeur. I'm a big fan of Brodeur, but the wheels may be falling off as he gets up there in age. The Devils did acquire Cory Schneider, from the Canucks, who was a part of the goalie fiasco in Vancouver, who I could see starting tonight. I don't think it matters who starts in goal for the Devils, because I see the Canucks winning this one. They have won three straight over the Devils, and I can see it being four after tonight. I fully expect New Jersey to be a little hungover, in a sense, losing the way they did last night. The Canucks get to 3-1 on the year tonight, backed by a big performance from Roberto Luongo. I'll pass on the big moneyline with OT included, and take them to win in regulation with a 2 unit play.Comment
